Objective To evaluate the clinical effectiveness of video electroencephalogram (VEEG) in neonatal seizure. Methods Seizures attacks of 64 newborns with gestational ages 28-44 weeks were monitored by VEEG. Results Incidence of abnormal VEEG was 32. 8%. Among 64 cases found in the VEEG, 13 cases had epileptic discharge in the ictal VEEGs. Three cases showed epileptic discharge in the interictal VEEGs with normal background rhythm. Two cases presented epileptic discharge in the interictal VEEGs with abnormal background rhythm. Three cases had abnormal background rhythm only. Discharge frequency during sleeping was more quick than that during awake-ness, mostly in the quiet sleep phase. Most frequently ictal epileptic discharges were a focal onset (16/ 18) , and 13 cases happened in the temple lobe. No epileptic discharge in the ictal and interictal VEEGs were tested in 46 cases attacked with seizures, which were diagnosed as non-epileptic seizures. Conclusions VEEG plays an important role in the diagnosis and differential diagnosis in epilepsy and non-epileptic seizure in newborns, and is valuable to perform early to improve prognosis.

Objective To investigate the protective effect of GSH on lung injury in rats with severe acute pancreatitis(SAP) and investigate the mechanism of severe acute pancreatitis associated lung injury. Methods Fifty-four Spragwe Dawley rats were randomly divided into three groups: control group, model(SAP)group and herbal group. Rats in model group and herbal group were induced pancreatitis by retrograde injection of 5% sodium taurocholate into the pancreatobiliary duct. Animals were killed at 3h, 6h, 12h after injection. The serum amylase was examined at 3h, 6h, 12h after injection. Pulmonary tissue fluid content was measured. The expression of pulmonary TNF-α mRNA and LIF mRNA was detected by semi-quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR). Results The serum level of amylase was lowered significantly in herbal group in comparision with that in model group (P<0.05) and pulmonary tissue fluid content in herbal group was reduced compared with model group (P<0.05). Similarly, the level of pulmonary TNF-α mRNA and LIF mRNA expressions was both significantly reduced in herbal group compared with model group (P<0.05). LIF mRNA was not examined in normal control group. Conclusion Treatment with GSH can prevent lung injury of rats with SAP.

OBJECTIVETo analyze the relationship between the ictal onset zone and dominant interictal epileptiform foci in tuberous sclerosis complex (TSC) patients.
METHODClinical data of 20 patients with TSC which had epileptic seizures during Video-EEG monitoring was assessed. Consistency and dominance of focal interictal epileptiform activity and the ictal onset zone were identified. Concordance between interictal and ictal findings was analyzed.
RESULTOf the 20 patients, 7 were female, and 13 were male. The age of epilepsy onset was from 15 d to 6 years. The Video-EEG monitoring age was from 6 months to 11 years. Family history was found in three cases. Abnormality in neuroimaging existed in 17 of 18 patients who were examined. Interictal EEG showed hypsarrhythmia in 3 patients, multifocal epileptiform activity with a dominant focus in 12 patients, both focal and generalized discharges in 2 patients, and only focal discharges in 3 patients. The seizures types during EEG monitoring included epileptic spasms, partial seizure, atypical absence, and generalized or focal myoclonic seizure. The most common seizure type was partial seizure and then epileptic spasms. EEG in 4 patients with epileptic spasms showed ictal generalized discharges and interictal hypsarrhythmia or generalized discharges. Clinical manifestation of epileptic spasms was asymmetric in 3 patients. Lateralization and location of interictal and ictal discharges were consistent in 2 of the 3 patients, while only lateralization consistency in 1 of the 3 patients. Partial seizures as the only seizure type were monitored in 13 patients. Of the 13 patients, lateralization and location of interictal and ictal discharges were inconsistent in 2 patients (15%), consistent in 8 patients (62%), lateralization or location consistent in 2 patients (15%). One case could not be analyzed because of uncertainty of lateralization and location of seizure onset.
CONCLUSIONIn the majority of patients with TSC, multifocal interictal epileptiform activity is present, in which a most dominance of focal epileptiform activity could be found. For some epileptic seizures or the majority of partial seizures, the ictal onset zone is concordant with the dominance of focal interictal epileptiform foci. The concordance might have positioning reference significance for preoperative evaluation of epilepsy surgery.

The clinicopathological data of 10 patients who underwent local laparoscopic resection of liver tumors located in superior part of central liver lobe at the Affiliated Hospital of Qingdao University from January to June 2020 were collected. There were 6 males and 4 females, aged from 41 to 63 years, with a median age of 54 years. Preoperative triangular model was constructed for all patients to plan approach of laparoscopic local resection of liver tumors located in superior part of central liver lobe. Observation indicators: (1) preoperative general situations of patients; (2) surgical situations; (3) follow-up. Follow-up was conducted by outpatient examination or telephone interview to detect tumor recurrence and survival of patients up to February 2021. Measurement data with normal distribution were expressed as Mean± SD. Count data were expressed was absolute numbers. Results:(1) Preoperative general situations of patients: hepatocellular carcinoma was found in 7 cases, inthahepatic cholangiocarcinoma was found in 2 cases and ovarian cancer with liver metastasis was found in 1 case. Three cases had tumors located in S4a segment, 2 cases had tumors located in ventral subsegment of S8 segment, 2 cases had tumors located in dorsal subsegment of S8 segment, and 3 cases had tumors across the ventral segment of S4a+S8. The diameter of tumors was (3.4±1.0)cm. (2) Surgical situation: all the 10 patients underwent R 0 resection successfully, with no intraoperative blood transfusion or conversion to open surgery. The operation time of 10 patients was (149±59)minutes, the volume of intraoperative blood loss was (294±163)mL, the minimum surgical margin of specimen was (1.1±0.2)cm. The alanine aminotransferase was (324±151)U/L on the postoperative first day, the aspartic aminotransferase was (401±113)U/L on the postoperative first day, and the duration of postoperative hospital stay was (9±4)days. No bile leakage, hemorr-hage, reoperation or other complications occurred in all patients. (3) Follow-up: 10 patients were followed up for 7?13 months, with a median follow-up time of 11 months. All patients had no margin recurrence or distant metastasis. Conclusion:It is safe and feasible to construct triangular modal for planning approach of local laparoscopic resection of liver tumors located in superior part of central liver lobe.

Journal of Prevention and Treatment for Stomatological Diseases 2024;32(4):287-295
Objective:
To explore the treatment options for congenitally missing teeth in patients with ectodermal dysplasia and provide a clinical reference.
Methods:
A patient with ectodermal dysplasia with a concave midface, anterior protrusion of the chin, and underdevelopment of the lower third of the face presented with congenital loss of multiple maxillary teeth, malocclusion of the remaining teeth, congenital loss of mandibular dentition, small dental arches, and upper and lower alveolar bone hypoplasia. The patient was treated by means of a removable partial maxillary prosthesis, implants in the anterior region of the lower mandible designed with the assistance of digital guides, and bar-clamped implant-overlay prostheses. A literature review of the protocol for the treatment of this condition was also conducted.
Results:
In addition to good retention and stability after denture wear, an excellent occlusal relationship, improvement of the patient's facial appearance, including upper and lower lip fullness, more equal balancing of the lower and middle 1/3 of the face, and improved masticatory function were achieved. The results of the literature review showed that patients with ectodermal dysplasia who are congenitally edentulous usually have a complex intraoral situation that makes restoration difficult, and common restorative modalities for these patients include fixed bridges, removable partial dentures, complete dentures, overdentures, and implant prostheses, which need to be selected according to the actual intraoral situation of each patient. Currently, there is no consensus on the treatment of congenitally missing teeth in patients with ectodermal dysplasia, and some scholars have suggested that fixed restorations be recommended for patients with fewer missing teeth, while the option of removable or implant-covered denture restorations should be given to patients with more missing teeth, with removeable prostheses for underage patients that are replaced with permanent fixed prostheses when the jaws have stabilized.
Conclusion
In patients with ectodermal dysplasia with congenital tooth loss, all factors should be taken into account, and an individualized restorative plan should be developed.

AIM: To evaluate the safety and efficacy of ultrasonic cycloplasty(UCP)combined with anti-vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF)+ panretinal photocoagulation(PRP)in the treatment of advanced neovascular glaucoma(NVG).METHODS: Retrospective study. A total of 45 patients(45 eyes)with advanced NVG who received surgery in our hospital from August 2020 to September 2022 were collected and divided into UCP+ anti-VEGF +PRP group(16 patients, 16 eyes), transscleral cyclophotocoagulation(TCP)+anti-VEGF+PRP group(20 patients, 20 eyes), UCP alone group(9 patients, 9 eyes). The intraocular pressure, pain scores, postoperative medication, effective rate, total success rate and the incidence of complications of the patients in the three groups were compared before surgery and at 1 d, 1 wk, 1 and 3 mo after surgery.RESULTS: There was no significant difference in preoperative intraocular pressure, pain scores and preoperative medication of patients in the three groups(all P>0.05). While there were statistical significance in the intraocular pressure and pain scores at 1 d, 1 wk, 1 and 3 mo after surgery(all P<0.01). The intraocular pressure of the UCP alone group(31.78±10.23 mmHg)was found to be higher than that of both the UCP+ anti-VEGF +PRP group(19.44±8.23 mmHg)and the TCP+ anti-VEGF +PRP group(20.80±10.27 mmHg)at 1 mo postoperatively(all P<0.017). The pain score of the TCP+ anti-VEGF +PRP group at 1 d and 1 wk postoperatively was higher than both the UCP+ anti-VEGF +PRP group and the UCP alone group(all P<0.017). The effective rates of UCP+ anti-VEGF +PRP group, TCP+ anti-VEGF +PRP group and UCP alone group were 81%(13/16), 75%(15/20)and 67%(6/9), respectively,(P=0.675), and the success rates were 69%(11/16), 50%(10/20), and 0(0/9), respectively(P=0.003). There was no significant difference in complications of patients in the three groups(P>0.05).CONCLUSION: UCP combined with anti-VEGF +PRP and TCP combined with anti-VEGF +PRP showed comparable efficacy in reducing intraocular pressure in advanced NVG. UCP combined with anti-VEGF+PRP was more effective in relieving pain and with no serious complications in advanced NVG. UCP alone can effectively control intraocular pressure and alleviate the pain of patients in the early postoperative period, but long-term control still requires anti-VEGF+PRP.
