Acta Nutrimenta Sinica 1956;0(01):-
Weanling rats and mice were fed on an iron-deficient diet. By the end of the 4th week, the rats were sacrificed for the determination of immune function and the mice were infected with S. typhimurium. The rate of peripheral blood lymphocytes transformation, total serum complement activity (CH50) and splenic tissue cAMP levels in the iron-deficient rats were 26.3? 5.86%, 58.39?14.79u/ml and 0.93?0.48 pmol/mg respectively, but that in the controls were 38.3?4.61%, 75.17?19.51u/ml and 2.69?1.17pmol/mg respectively. The former were significantly lower than the latter. The serum hemolysin (HC50) and serum lysozyme in the iron-deficient rats were 330.62 ?21.90 and 29.50 ?16.85ug/ml respectively; and that in the controls were 353.24?29.77 and 30.08?10.39ug/ml respectively. The differences between these two groups were not significant. Gross histological changes were found in the spleen of the iron-deficient rats, but no changes in the thymus. After the intraperitoneal injection of S. typhimurium, the mortality of iron-deficient mice were significantly higher than the controls.

BACKGROUND:Percutaneous vertebraplasty is a new means for the treatment of vertebral compression fractures and bone metastases. The multiplaner reconstruction with digital substraction angiography (DSA)-Innova 3D plays an important role in guiding the percutaneous vertebraplasty puncture, which can effectively prevent the leakage of bone cement. OBJECTIVE:To explore the value of DSA-Innova 3D in the guidance of puncture of percutaneous vertebroplasty. METHODS:From March 2014 to September 2014, a total of 72 patients with 94 vertebras were selected for percutaneous vertebraplasty, of whom 36 (48 vertebras) with Innova 3D (experimentalgroup) and 36 (46 vertebras) without Innova 3D (control group). Spiral CT scan was performed in al patients to assess the distribution of bone cement. The imaging quality in the two groups was compared by Mann-Whitney U test. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:CT showed bone cement leakage occurred in 7 of the 36 patients in the control group. Leakages were into the lumber disc in two cases, paravertebral space in two cases, vertebral pedicle in onecase or veins in two cases. However, only one case of bone cement leakage was observed in the experimental group. With the guidance of DSA-Innova 3D, the experimental group had signficantly lower leakage and fluoroscopic time than the control group (P < 0.05). The multiplaner reconstruction with DSA-Innova 3D plays an important role in guiding the percutaneous vertebraplasty puncture, thereby effectively reducing the leakage of bone cement.

OBJECTIVE:To study the effects of scorpion’s proteins with different molecular weights on angiogenesis of the transgenic zebrafish. METHODS:The vascular fluorescence transgenic zebrafish models were established. Scorpion’s proteins were separated by ultrafiltration and ion exchange chromatography to obtain the scorpion protein fractions with different molecular weights (3-10 ku,>10-50 ku and>50 ku). The embryos of transgenic zebrafishes were cultured in the above 10,100 and 500 μg/ml scor-pion’s proteins. Intersegmental vessels of the transgenic zebrafishes were counted under the fluorescence microscope to optimize the most suitable scorpion’s protein molecular weight. The vessels were counted again with >50 ku scorpion protein component 1 and 2,so as to select suitable component.RESULTS:The >50 ku scorpion’s protein fraction component 1 with the mass concentration of 500 μg/ml had the highest inhibitory activity for the angiogenesis of the transgenic zebrafish, with inhibitory rate of 92.59%. CONCLUSIONS:Scorpion’s protein and its fractions have the activity of angiogenesis inhibition, which may be one of anti-cancer mechanisms of scorpion.
