Objective To investigate the clinical pathology characteristics of the p27 and C-myc protein expression in lung squamous cell carcinoma and adenecarcinoma as well as the correlation between the expressions of them. Method The expressions of p27 and C-mye protein in tumor tissue of 35 cases excised during pulmonectomy for lung squamous cell carcinoma and adenocarcinoma patients were examined using immunochemical method, and compared with 10 cases of normal lung tissue. Results The total positive rate of p27 protein was 17.1%(6/35 ) in 35 eases of tumor tissue, but 90.0%(9/10) in normal lung tissue, and there was significant difference (P< 0.05 ). Between high-moderate and low differentiated tissue, the positive rate had significant difference (P = 0.005). There was no significant difference of p27 protein expression in patients with different tumor size and histology types, as well as with or without lymph nodes metastasis (P > 0.05 ). The total positive rate of C-myc protein was 85.7% (30/35) in tumor tissue, but no expression existed in normal lung tissue (P < 0.05). There was significant difference of C-myc expressions between the tissue with and without lymph nodes metastasis (P =0.013),but there was no significant difference in various tumor size, differentiated degree, as well as histology type(P> 0.05). The expression of p27 and C-myc in lung squamous cell carcinoma and adenecareinoma showed negative correlation. Conclusions The expression of p27 protein is positive in normal lung tissue, but shows outstanding decrease in lung squamous cell carcinoma and adenocarcinoma tissue. Its expression correlates with the differentiated degree. The expression of C-myc is negative in normal lung tissue but shows significant increase in lung squamous cell carcinoma and adenocareinoma tissue and its expression correlates with lymph nodes metastasis. C-myc may be a valuable marker in evaluating prognosis.

Journal of Xi'an Jiaotong University(Medical Sciences) 1981;0(03):-
The blood supply of metatarsuses and pha-langeals in 30 cases of fetuses and infants was ob-served by microangiographic methods. The resultsdemonstrated that diaphyses and cartilages of bothends of metatarsuses and phalangeals gradually in-creased in the fetal period and appeared nourishingartery and cartilage canal. Both ends of metatar-suses and phalangeals gradually decrea.ed in the. infant period and cartilage canals gradually disap-peared also. These implied that the appearance ofcartilage canals was related to the size of cartilageblocks. Cartilage Canals were temporary bloodsystem of fetal cartilage. Characteristics of bloodsupply of metatarsuses and phalangeals: 1. Asym-metrical distribution of blood supply on metatar-suses and phalangeal, that is the blood supply ofepiphyseal end is richer than one of non--epiphy-seal end, is adapted with the difference of growthability at both ends. 2. There is distribution ofcartilage canals at the epiphyseal end of the distalphalanx, and it is adapted with having growth a-bility at the proximal end. These show that bloodsupply of metatarsuses and phalangeals is closelyrelated to their growth and development.

BACKGROUND: Resin-modified glass ionomer (RMGI) cements have higher bond strength, especially can release fluoride. But there are fewer reports of the clinical application for the prevention of decalcification.OBJECTIVE: To test the benefit from using RMGI cement instead of a conventional composite resin in bracket bonding for patients with malocclusion, and observe bracket-failure rates and decalcification on enamel surfaces at pretreatment and at debonding.DESIGN: Observational and comparative trial.SETTING: The Second Hospital Affiliated to Hebei Medical University.PARTICIPANTS: Forty successive patients (358 teeth) with malocclusion admitted to the Department of Orthodontics in the Second Hospital Affiliated to Hebei Medical University, were selected for the study from July to August in 2002. All the patients (21 females and 19 males, mean age 16 years) had normal and complete anterior teeth, good oral hygiene. There were no obvious differences in bilateral teeth. Informed consents were obtained from all the subjects. The experiment was also approved by the ethical committee of the hospital. Experimental materials were RMGI adhesive (Fuji, GC, Japan, Lot 0005111) and composite resin cement (enamel adhesive of Beijing and Tianjin, Tianjin product, Lot 020402). Brackets produced from Hangzhou 3B and 37% phosphoric acid were used.METHODS: ①Bonding brackets: Subjects selected according to random procedure were divided into two groups, each with 20. GroupⅠ: The left buccal surfaces bonded with light-cure RMGI were etching for 30 seconds with 37% phosphoric acid, rinsed with water; the right buccal surfaces bonded with composite resin cement were etching for 60 seconds with 37% phosphoric acid, rinsed with water and dried; Group Ⅱ: After etching for 30 seconds with 37% phosphoric acid, the right buccal surfaces were rinsed with water and bonded brackets with light-cure RMGI. The left buccal surfaces were bonded brackets with composite resin cement after etching for 60 seconds with 37% phosphoric acid, rinsing with water and drying; Attachment of 0.036-cm NiTi wires with ligature to the brackets was conducted 10 minutes after light-curing. The information about differences in bilateral bonding materials was not told to patients. To ensure an equal bonding materials containing fluoride and minimize the error, all the patients were instructed to use toothpaste containing fluoride, a fluoride mouthwash was not prescribed. The treatment period was 9-26 months (mean 18 months).②Patients were rechecked at intervals of 4 weeks postoperatively. Each bonded tooth was checked for loose or missing brackets, and failures were recorded. A color transparency of anterior teeth area was taken using a standardized photographic technique. The enamel surface conditions were classified at a magnification of ×10. The condition of enamel surface recorded was made according to the scoring system by Geiger before treatment and at debonding.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: ①The number and site of bonding failures.②Enamel surface conditions at before treatment and debonding.RESULTS: Forty patients were all involved in the result analysis. Eliminating 4 teeth occurring bond failure and 4 teeth of opposite side at anterior teeth, a total of 232 teeth were evaluated.①The number and sit of bonding failures: There was no significant difference between the failure rates of RMGI adhesive and composite resin cement (P > 0.05). Significantly more premolar brackets failed than incisor brackets.②Decalcification of enamel surface: At debonding after treatment, the incidence rates of white spots in the surfaces bonded with the RMGI were significantly lower than that in the composite resin (25.9%, 38.8%, P < 0.05).CONCLUSION:The use of RMGI for brackets bonding results in a significant reduction in the incidence of white spot at debonding. Reducing etching time may obtain a similar survival rate with the routine etching time.

Objective: To study left ventricular diastolic function (LVDF) in patients with coronary artery disease(CAD) by tissue Doppler imaging (TDI) and color Doppler echocardiography. Methods: The maximum velocity ( V max ) and time velocity integration(TVI) in early and late diastolic stage of mitral valve orifice of 80 patients with CAD and 79 normal subjects were measured by color Doppler echocardiography at apical 4 chamber view. Meanwhile, the V max and/or TVI of the myocardial motion spectrum of left ventricular lateral wall near the mitral valve annulet were measured by TDI. These data were compared and analysed by statistical method. Results: In the normal subjects, the older the subject, the lower the V max and TVI of early diastolic stage, the higher the V max and TVI of late diastolic stage. In CAD group, changes were not associated with ages and were affected by the degree of the myocardial pathology. The LVDF couldn't be exactly judged by color Doppler echocardiography when pseudonormalization blood flow spectrum appeared, but TDI technique was relatively sensitive. Any regional myocardial motion could be measured by TDI according to the examiner's design. Conclusion: LVDF by color Doppler echocardiography is simple and convenient. TDI technique can be used for determining overall LVDF and left ventricular systolic function. [

OBJECTIVE:To study the improvement effects of polydatin on renal fibrosis in rats and its mechanism. METH-ODS:50 rats was were randomly divided into sham operation group, model group, positive group(benazepril,5 mg/kg)and poly-datin high-dose and low-dose groups(100,50 mg/kg),with 10 rats in each group. Except for sham operation group, renal fibrosis model was induced by unilateral ureter obstruction. After modeling, administration groups were given relevant medicine intragastri-cally,and sham operation group and model group were given 0.5%sodium carboxymethyl cellulose solution once a day for consec-utive 4 weeks. The pathological change of renal tissue was scored. 24 h urinary protein and serum levels of urea nitrogen and creati-nine were determined, and the content of hydroxyproline,mRAN expression of TGF-β1 and FN were detected in renal tissue. RE-SULTS:Compared with sham operation group, pathological score,24 h urinary protein, serum levels of urea nitrogen and creati-nine,the content of hydroxyproline in renal tissue,mRNA expression of TGF-β1 and FN were all increased significantly (P<0.01). Compared with model group,24 h urinary protein, serum levels of urea nitrogen and creatinine and mRNA expression of FN in renal tissue decreased significantly in administation groups;the pathology scores, the content of hydroxyproline in renal tis-sue and mRNA expression of TGF-β1 of positive group and polydatin high-dose group were all decreased significantly(P<0.05 or P<0.01). CONCLUSIONS:Polydatin can prevent kidney fibrosis induced by unilateral ureteral obstruction, the mechanism of which may be associated with the mRNA expression down-regulation of TGF-β1 and FN in renal tissue.
