Objective: To observe the influence on curative effect of aescine in curing Lumbar intervertebral disc prolapse(LIDP) before and after operation. Methods: 184 cases of patients with LIDP were divided into two groups. 96 cases in curative group began to be used 10mg of aescin by adding to infusion of iv drip bid 3 days before the operation, and contie for 6-8 days it. 88 cases in control group were only operated. Results: Curative group was superior to control group in lysis of pain, postoperative La feeling and improvement of muscle strength. The excellent and better rates in two groups are 72.91%, 91.67% and 43.18%, 85.22%. The excellent rate of curative group is higher than that of control group( P 0.05). There is no serious bad reaction of drug in curative group. Conclusion: Aescin used before and after operation is good to recovery of nervous function after LIDP operation.

PURPOSE: This study is intended to investigate the effects of plants or plant-derived antioxidants on prevention of osteoporosis through the maintenance of reactive oxygen species (ROS) at a favorable level. MATERIALS AND METHODS: In this study, a novel antioxidant, namely 3,4,5-Trihydroxy-N-[4-(5-hydroxy-6-methoxy-pyrimidin-4-ylsulfamoyl)-phenyl]-benzamide (ZXHA-TC) was synthesized from gallic acid and sulfadimoxine. Its effect on osteoblast metabolism was investigated via the detection of cell proliferation, cell viability, production of ROS, and expression of osteogenic-specific genes including runt-related transcription factor 2 (RUNX2), bone sialoprotein (BSP), osteocalcin (OCN), alpha-1 type I collagen (COL1A1), and osteogenic-related proteins after treatment for 2, 4, and 6 days respectively. RESULTS: The results showed that ZXHA-TC has a stimulating effect on the proliferation and osteogenic differentiation of primary osteoblasts by promoting cell proliferation, cell viability, and the expression of genes BSP and OCN. Productions of bone matrix and mineralization were also increased by ZXHA-TC treatment as a result of up-regulation of COL1A1 and alkaline phosphatase (ALP) at the early stage and down-regulation of both genes subsequently. A range of 6.25x10(-3) microg/mL to 6.25x10(-1) microg/mL is the recommended dose for ZXHA-TC, within which 6.25x10(-2) microg/mL showed the best performance. CONCLUSION: This study may hold promise for the development of a novel agent for the treatment of osteoporosis.

Objective:
To explore the efficacy of percutaneous vertebroplasty (PVP) in the treatment of osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures (OVCF).
Methods:
A retrospective analysis of 76 patients with OVCF treated with single and double pedicle approach PVP from April 2016 to June 2017 in the First Affiliated Hospital of He′nan University was conducted.According to the operation method, the patients were divided into unilateral group (42 patients, unilateral pedicle approach), and bilateral group (34 cases, bilateral pedicle approach). The operation time, number of intraoperative X-rays, amount of bone cement injection, height of the vertebral body and the complications were compared between the two groups. The visual analogue scale (VAS) and the Oswestry dysfunction index(ODI) score were used to assess the recovery of the patients.
Results:
The unilateral group had less operative time[(33.01±3.78)min], intraoperative X-ray number[(22.06±3.85) times]and bone cement injection[(3.53±0.42) mL] compared with the bilateral group (
