Objective To evaluate the distribution of non-motor symptoms(NMS) and dominant factors impacting on the prevalence of NMS in Parkinson's disease(PD). Methods The NMS questionnaire(NMSQuest) was administered to 128 patients(PD group) and 128 healthy adults(control group). The distribution of items of NMS was analyzed between the two groups, and clinical characteristics were also collected to assess the dominant factors impacting on the prevalence of NMS. Results There were significant differences in the prevalence of NMS between the two groups(P

In this study, we use pot experiment to evaluate the effect of plant growth regulator on plant morphology and biomass allocation of Salvia miltiorrhiza. Different concentrations of uniconazole were supplied to S. miltioohiza by means of foliar spray. Height, breadth and stem diameter were measured dynamically, the biomass of leaf, stem, flower and fruit, root biomass and biomass ratio were also examined at the harvest time. Owing to the treatment, plant morphology showed significant changes, the height had been greatly reduced and the breadth decreased largely. Meanwhile, the biomass allocation changed too. The biomass ratio of leaf and stem had been notably reduced while the biomass ratio of root had been increased remarkably. It appears that foliar application of uniconazole during vigorous growth period in S. miltioohiza has dramatic effect on dwarfing plant and improving resistant to lodging. This measure could also be applied to condensed cultivation of S. miltioohiza to increase production.

Objective To investigate whether mesenchymal stem cells can promote the recovery of acute renal tubular damage induced by mercuric chloride and to explore its possible mechanism. Methods Acute renal failure rat model was established by intraperitoneal injection of mercuric chloride.SD rats were randomly divided into three groups which were MSCs injection group, saline infusion group and normal control group.Seven days later, the changes of rat weight, survival, renal function and pathology were observed;PCNA,ED-1 and GFP were detected by immunohistochemistry; The expression of cytokines in kidney and the distribution of GFP plasmid-transfected MSCs in kidney were examined by RT-PCR.Results MSCs infusion ameliorated the decline of rat weight, survival, renal function, and pathological changes.PCNA and ED-1 positive cells in MSCs group were fewer than those in saline group.Expression of growth factors EGF,PDGF,HGF were obviously up- regulated and pre-inflammatory cytokines TNF-?was significantly reduced in MSCs-treated kidneys. GFP-labelled MSCs occurred occasionally in renal interstitium of MSCs-treated rats, but not in renal tubules. Conclusions Bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells can promote the recovery of acute renal tubular epithelial cells damage caused by mercuric chloride. The mechanism may partly depend on regulating the excretion of cytokines in renal microenvironment rather than completely depend on their differentiation to tubular cells.

Objective To investigate the influence of angelica sinenisis injection on bone marrow histology and ultrastructure in immune-induced aplastic anemia(AA) mice. Methods Female Balb/c mice were divided into normal group, model group, therapy group and contrast group. All mice were killed by cutting neck on the 12 th day, ulnas and femur were taken out. The bone marrow histology section and ultrastructure of mice ulnas were observed. The quantities of hematopoietic cells were counted. The number of femur bone marrow mononucleate cells (MNC) were measured. Results The quantities of hematopoietic cells in model group were lower than those in normal group (P

Objective To investigate the effect of leukotriene receptor antagonist montelukast on inflammatory factors in children with asthma. Methods Eighty children with moderate asthma who aged 6-14 years old were randomly assigned to 3 treatment groups:5 mg once daily montelukast,or inhaled 100 ?g twice daily budesonide and 5 mg montelukast with inhaled budesonide 100 ?g per day. Each dose group received medicine for 12 weeks. Before starting therapy and 12 months later, clinical effects were observed, and pulmonary function was measured in patients simultaneously;concentrations of serum and sputum eosinophil cationic protein(ECP), IL-5 and TNF-? were measured respectively;also the peripheral blood eosinophil (Eos)was counted. Results Following treatment, clinical evaluation was improved and there were significant increases in pulmonary function in asthmatic children.Compared with control group, the levels of serum ECP,IL-5,TNF-? and blood Eos counting increased significantly in asthmatic children. The blood Eos counting was significantly correlated with ECP concentration in serum of children with asthma(P

A new thermophilic fungus J18 isolated from the soil samples was identified as Paecilomyces thermophila. This strain produced effectively xylanase utilizing several lignocellulosic materials in the solid-state fermentation (SSF) , and wheat straw was the best carbon source. The results of single-factor-experiment showed that the wheat straw of particle size 0. 3 mm ~ 0.45 mm, initial moisture content of 83% , initial pH of 7. 0 and cultivation temperature of 50℃were the optimal conditions for xylanase production. Under the optimized conditions, it produced 18 580 U/g dry substrate after 8 days of cultivation. Therefore, xylanase production by Paecilomyces thermophila in SSF possess great potential for commercial applications.

Microbiology 1992;0(04):-
In this study, nearly 200 endophytic bacteria were isolated from different part of Huperzia serrata, over 60 bacterium with clear antifungal activity were selected from those cultures.Among them, strain H-6 exhibited the highest antifungal activity which was strongly inhibits the growth of many plant pathogenic fungi such as Sclerotinia scleroliorum,Fusarium graminearumt,Sclerotinia libertiana,Phytophthora capsici Leonia and Sesame fusarium wilt.According to the characteristics of morphology, physiology and biochem- istry tests and the comparison of 16S rDNA sequence, the strain H-6 was similar to the Burkholderia. So strain H-6 was identified as Burkholderia sp.H-6.The results also showed that Burkholderia sp.H-6 was markedly different from Burkholderia cepacia that was applied widely in agriculture as antagonistic bacteria. The medium and culture conditions of the strain all were optimized by single factor and orthogonal experiments. In the investigation of the culture condition, growth was carried out in a basal medium(potato juice)and gradually supplemented with the various ingredients to be investigated. The major ingredients be- ing investigated included carbon sources and nitrogen sources. The optimal antifungal activity production condition is growth in a medium(potato juice with 2.5%mannitol and 0.1%NaNO3),initial pH 4.0 at 28℃.
