Chinese Journal of Tissue Engineering Research 2010;14(17):3197-3200
BACKGROUND:Rib fractures are frequently treated with analgesic or compression band, which relieves pain but attenuates respiration.Memory metal chest shield as a new product has been used clinically for patients with multiple rib fractures to alleviate the pain.It displays many advantages compared with traditional approaches OBJECTIVE:To compare the effect of the memory metal chest shield versus the traditional fixation for multiple rib fractures.METHODS:A total of 104 patients with multiple rib fractures confirmed by transthoracic X-ray were selected and randomly divided into control group(n=40)treated with the traditional fixation methods(chest strap or a thick pad)and experimental group(n=64)treated with memory metal chest shield. At 1,24,48,and 72 hours after admission, the visual analog scale(VAS)at rest and cough.the incidence of pulmonary complications, and hospitalization were recorded Of them,32 from the experimental and21 from the control group rccepted pulmonary function tests.and their vital capacity was recorded at 1,24,48,and 72 hours after treatment RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:Pain intensity of experimental group was reduced at rest, while significantly reduced in forced breathing(such as cough).Of the 32 patients with use of memory metal sheeting, vital capacity continuously increased during the observation period, but pulmonary complications were significantly less, and the average hospital stay was significantly less than the control group(P<0.05).Results show that the memory metal shield displayed fixation effect on the area of broken ribs, which significantly reduced pain, increased lung capacity, reduced the incidence of pulmonary complications and shortened the average length of stay.It is a simple and effective method of treating multiple rib fractures .

Objective Stem cell therapy has been extensively used in clinical practice. However ,the methods available are unable to non‐invasively detect the distribution of cells in vivo. This study was aimed to establish a novel molecular imaging probe for stem cell labeling ,which would monitor cells via fluorescence imaging. Methods 1‐iodododecane was used to modify polyethyleneimine (PEI) to form amphiphilic macromolecules. These macromolecules encapsulated the hydrophobic quantum dots by self‐assembly to form imaging probes. Results Strong fluorescence signals of the probe occurred at 630 nm ,and the probe could be effectively endocyted by mesenchyme stem cells. In vivo imaging showed that significant optic signals occurred in probe‐labeled mesenchyme stem cells compared with the control cells (blank group:1.47e8 [p/s/cm2/sr]/[μW/cm2 ];test group:2.78e8 [p/s/cm2/sr]/[μW/cm2 ]). Conclusion The nanoprobes have good optic imaging effects ,and can be used to la‐bel cells.

Journal of Jilin University(Medicine Edition) 2001;27(1):37-38
Objective:To study the Cronassial′protective effect on brain tissue during ischemia reperfusion. Methods:The rat cerebral ischemia reperfusion model was prepared by four-vessel occulasion method. The Glu,GABA content in hippocampus during cerebral ischemia reperfusion was observed by high press liquid phase method. Results:Glu,GABA content increased during ischemia and decreased during reperfusion. Cronassial could obviously decrease the Glu content and increase neuron density. Conclusion:Cronassial can inhibit Glu and protect brain tissue during cerebral ischemia reperfusion.

Chinese Journal of Tissue Engineering Research 2010;14(26):4929-4932
BACKGROUND: Under wear particles stimulation, mononuclear macrophages, fibroblasts, and osteoblasts can produce a large amount of inflammatory factors, leading to periprosthetic osteolysis. But the precise mechanisms remain unclear. OBJECTIVE: To analyze the molecular biological mechanism underlying osteolysis induced by titanium wear particles . RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: Cleaned titanium particles stimulation induced an unbalanced ratio of RANK mRNA to OPG mRNA. Over-expressed RANK bound to RANK ligand and promoted osteolysis. No RANK mRNA expression was detected in the LPS group, but OPG mRNA expression was transiently increased at 4 hours. NF-κB/inflammatory cytokine, rather than RANK/OPG, is the main signal pathway for LPS to induce osteolysis. After LPS binding to titanium particles, these two signal mechanisms, RANK/OPG and NF-κB/inflammatory cytokine, have synergistic effects during artificial joint loosening.

Objective To investigate the clinical characteristics, treatment and prognosis of spine and spinal cord stab injury with foreign bodies retained in wound.MethodIn a group of 128 cases of spine and spinal cord stab injury that admitted to our department from January 1995 to November 2005,19 had foreign bodies retained in wound. The result of 19 cases were analyzed retrospectively.ResultOperations such as scrutinization of the spinal canal,clean-up of the hematoma, extraction of foreign bodies were performed according to different conditions for 19 cases of spine and spinal cord stab injury with foreign bodies retained in wound of 19 patients,one(5.3%) died, two happened cerebrospinal fluid leakage, one meningomyelitis and wound infection was observed.Of 14 cases with neurological injury, scores of ASIA scales of 13 patients increased after comprehensive rehabilitation treatment(P

Objective To explore the clinical efficacy of small-incision Dewar's operation for acute acromioclavicular dislocation. Methods Without exposing the a-c joint, the coracoid tip with tendon were transferred to the clavicle to reconstruct the coracoclavicular ligaments. And then the a-c joint was statically fixed and dynamically replaced. Results A 1-to 9-year follow-up(mean,4.9 years)was available in 52 patients.According to the Lazzcano Criteria,44 cases had excellent and 7 cases had good results, only one was failed because of bolt prematurity at 2 month after the operation.Roentgenogram,CT,and MRI showed that the surface of the acromioclavicular joint was smooth,no arthritic sign of cirrhosis, hyperplasia,or theca. The signal of the a-c joint was uniform. The Roentgenograms showed that,at the neutrality position, the distal end of the clavicle of the injured side was higher than that of the healthy side. The D/W of the healthy side was 0.432?0.101,which was significantly higher than that in the injured side(0.523?0.083,t=2.188,P=0.042).The difference between the neutrality and hold of the healthy side was 0.116?0.025,while that of the injured side was 0.087?0.016(t=1.114,P=0.280).The Roentgenograms of the raise position showed no impact in the a-c joint. Conclusions Small incision Dewar's operation is an effective, safe, and minimally invasive method for the treatment of acute acromioclavicular dislocation.

To study changes of lung function for 10 years in the elder patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases (COPD) who have quitted smoking for more than 10 years, 45 elder patients with COPD who had quitted smoking for more than 10 years were selected, and 11 elder patients with COPD who had never smoked were enrolled too. Routine lung function tests were performed. Initial values of VC, FVC, FEV 1 , PEF, MMEF, and MVV were compared with those 10 years later, and it was found the difference was significant ( P

0.05; the holding vs neutral position, the disaster side and the healthy side all had significant difference,P0.05.This showed that the capability of stability of a-c joint were good. The Roentgenograms of shoulder elevation position raise showed that there was no impact in the a-c joint.[Conclusion]The results of small incision Dewar's operation is good in treating instability distal clavicular fracture. It has the advantages of minimally invasive, easy operation and fixation.
