Chinese Journal of Geriatrics 2003;0(07):-
Objective To determine the reliability of the tooth wear index in representing the profile of tooth cervical defect. Methods One hundred and ninety-three teeth with wedge-shaped defects were selected in 69 plaster casts. The sizes of every wedge-shaped defect were measured by using vernire caliper and the volumes of those were calculated. Otherwise, by weighting the restoration of defects, the real volumes of the 9 teeth defects were calculated by formulating. Results The formulation for calculatin of the real volume of the defects was presented as: volume = 0.4735 + 2.5948 X (deep of profile X height X broad of defects)/6. The profile of the defect was strongly related to the volume. Conclusions The value of one dimension measure of the wedge-shaped defects may present the tooth wear index.

Journal of Medical Postgraduates 2003;0(09):-
Objective: To study the effect of moist therapy on dermal radio lesions. Methods:13 located dermal radio lesions about Ⅲ-Ⅳ stage from 12 cases were treated with moist therapy. Wound managing steps for each time: The first step was to measure the size of wounds and take photos, and then evaluate individual pain level by a numeric pain scale. The second step was to assess and analyze the factors affecting wounds healing, including nutrition, sleeping, activity, psychological condition. After that the individualized plans about nutrition, activity, and psychological care were made. While exchanging dressings, the implementation and effects of the plans must be evaluated and adjusted. The mechanical debridement combined with autolyzing debridement was used for wounds managing. Then the wounds were saturated with bFGF and normal saline, and wetly covered with occlusive dressings. Wounds were managed every two days until wounds healed. Results: All 13 wounds were cured. The average healing time was (10?6)d and the average cost was (202?48)yuan. The pain level after moist therapy was significantly lowered than before(P

Objective To investigate the prevalence of endemic fluorosis in Guide county of Qinghai province, in order to provide appropriate measures to monitor and control the disease. Methods Damo, Wenquan, Baoning villages(water source has been changed) and Taiping village(water source has not been changed) in Guide county were involved in the study in 2008. One tap water sample was collected in dry and rainy seasons, respectively. Water fluoride was tested in accordance with the "Standard Test Methods for Drinking Water" (GB/T 5750.5-2006); of all the children aged 8 to 12, dental fluorosis was diagnosed using Dean criteria; 6 copies of urine samples were collected in each age group, urinary fluoride was measured using fluoride ion-selective electrode (WS/T 89-1996). According to the "Clinical Diagnostic Criteria of Endemic Skeletal Fluorosis "(WS 192-2008), clinical skeletal fluorosis was determined in adults over the age of 16 by X-ray examination for 10 people in each selected village. Results The mean water fluoride was 0.58,0.38,2.28,0.37 mg/L in Damo, Wenquan, Taiping, and Baoning villages, respectively, and that of Taiping village exceeded the national standard(1.0 mg/L). One hundred and ninety-three children aged 8-12 were checked, the detection rate of dental fluorosis was 49.74% (96/193); urine samples of 116 children were tested, median urinary fluoride was 1.49 mg/L A total of 1503 adults over the age of 16 were examined, the clinical detection of skeletal fluorosis was 51.63%(776/1503); a total of 82 people were X-rayed, X-ray detection of skeletal fluorosis was 20.73%(17/82). The characteristic of X-rays were degeneration and ossification of interosseous membrane. Conclusions Prevalence of dental fluorosis of children and adult clinical skeletal fluorosis are higher. The endemic fluorosis is still comparatively serious. Prevention efforts need to be further strengthened.

Objective To explore the qualification and consuming of iodized salt at wholesale and household levels after Salt Iodization. Methods Iodized salt surveillance at wholesale and household levels every year by detecting iodine content.Direct titration method(GB/T 13025.7-1999)was used for salt iodjne detecting and arbitration method was used for Sichuan salt and special salt. Results Five thousand six hundred and seventy five samples of 227 batches from 3 wholesale industries were detected during 1996-2000,batch qualification rate was 60.79%(138/227)and iodized salt qualification rate was 61.83%(3509/5675).During 2001-2007,2556 samples of 252 batches from wholesale levels were detected. The batch qualification rate and iodized salt qualification rate were 1 00%(252/252)and 99.88%(2553/2556),respectively.At household level.1583 samples from 236 villages were detected during 1996-2000.Iodized salt qualification rate was 74.24%(1 170/1576)and consuming rate of qualified iodized salt was 73.91%(1 170/1583)and iodine median was 45.14 mg/kg.During 2001-2007,13 140 samples from 1656 villages were detected.Iodized salt qualification rate, consuming rate 0f qualified iodized salt and iodine median were 98.03%(12 830/13 088),97.64%(12 830/13 140)and 30.13 mg/kg,respectively. The most difference of iodine content was 3.46 mg/kg in 3 wholesale industries. At household level there was a 4.95%reduction in comparison with at wholesale level. Conclusions Salt iodization level and edible iodine salt reach the national requirements of iodine deficiency control from the starting stage. The quality 0f iodized saIt at household level related to the exclusive wholesale industry and loss phenomenon maybe existed when salt was sold from wholesale industries to residents.

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the therapeutic effect of Yihuo Qingxia method, a traditional Chinese medicine therapeutic method for replenishing qi to activate blood, clearing away heat and dredging intestines, in treating hyperlipoidemia-related severe acute pancreatitis (SAP) in early stage. METHODS: One hundred and four patients with hyperlipoidemia-related SAP were divided into two groups: early group (admitted to hospital within 3 days after onset) and late group (admitted to hospital from 3 days to 7 days after onset). There were 52 cases in each group. All the patients were treated by Yihuo Qingxia method. RESULTS: There were no statistical differences in 48-hour Ranson scores, CT scores, 24-hour acute physiology and chronic heath evaluation II scores (APACHE II scores), and the levels of 24-hour serum triglyceride (TG) and serum glucose in the two groups (P>0.05). At the 10th day after onset, the serum TG level in early group was lower than that in late group (P<0.01). The incidences of acute respiratory distress syndrome, acute renal failure, hepatic inadequacy, congestive heart failure, shock, encephalopathy, infection and alimentary tract hemorrhage in early group were higher than those in late group (P<0.05). The mortality in early group was lower than that in the late group (P<0.05). The length of hospital stay in early group was shorter than that in late group (P<0.05). CONCLUSION: Yihuo Qingxia method has a good efficacy in treating hyperlipoidemia-related SAP in early stage.
