1.Sonographic features of carotid body tumor
Chinese Archives of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery 2006;0(01):-
OBJECTIVE To describe the sonographic features of carotid body tumor(CBT), and determine the utility of ultrasonography as a diagnostic study in the preoperative patients. METHODS Sonograms of 60 patients with 65 CBT were reviewed with gray scale and duplex Doppler sonography. The evaluated features included the location, size, margins, shape, internal echogenicity, the relationship between the tumor and the carotid artery, and blood flow velocity. RESULTS All carotid body tumors were located at the carotid artery bifurcation. Well-defined, solid, weakly hypoechoic masses were noted on gray scale sonography in the carotid bifurcation. Color Doppler sonography showed hypervascularity in 61 masses. Pulsed Doppler analysis of blood flow within the tumor mass was possible in 61 CBT, and low-resistance waveforms were obtained from multiple sites within the mass in all cases. CONCLUSION The ultrasound characteristics of the CBT possess specificity to some extent. Duplex Doppler ultrasound can provide the relationship between the tumor and the carotid artery, and provide important information of intratumor blood flow, which has important value in the diagnosis of CBT.
2.Breeding of Arachidonic Acid Producting Strain with Mortierella Sabellina by Ultraviolet Mutation
Microbiology 1992;0(06):-
In order to gain the strain which has high growth vigor and whose biomass concentration satisfy further fermentation to produce arachidonic acid, we took the yield of microbes olein and arachidonic acid as evaluative index, adopted twice ultraviolet mutation, determined the time of ultraviolet irradiation by single factor expriment, and then the content of the arachidonic acid was measured by GC. The results of this experiment showed that the power of viltalight lamp was 20 W, exposure distance was 30 cm and exposure time was 80 s, lethality of spores of Mortierella isabellina was 76.4%. After twice ultraviolet mutation and repeatedly screen, a mutation of Mortierella isabellina Z80s2-109 whose arachidonic acid concentration in biomass were 3.77 times of the control strains was obtained and genetic stability.

Journal of International Oncology 2016;43(9):715-717
Bone marrow microenvironment is a complex network consisting of hematopoietic stem/pro-genitor cells (HSPCs),non-hematopoietic cells, extracellular matrix and various cytokines. Its components interact to support normal hematopoiesis.Emerging evidence indicates that the dysfunction of mesenchymal stem cells,myeloid-derived suppressor cells, cytokines and the epigenetic alterations of HSPCs in the bone marrow microenvironment could influence normal hematopoiesis.Abnormal hematopoiesis contributes to the occurrence of hematological malignancies, such as myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS).Animal models have confirmed that bone marrow microenvironment plays an important role in the original generation and maintenance of malignant diseases of hematopoietic system.

5.Phylogenetic Tree and Function Analysis of Inflorescence Meristem Identity Gene TFL1
China Biotechnology 2006;0(01):-
TFL1 homologs play important roles in maintaining vegetative growth and inflorescence meristem identity. The plants without the function of this gene usually are flowering earlier. Their normal inflorescence development is inhibited, the inflorescence meristem eventually acquired floral identity, which producing a terminal flower. Up to now, the TFL1 homologs have been isolated from 28 species of plants, including Arabidopsis, Snapdrogen and Tomato. The phylogenic tree of TFL1 proteins is almost accordance with the relative of those plants. The inflorescence identity gene TFL1 interacted with floral meristem identity genes LFY and AP1, so as to retard the transformation from inflorescence identity into floral identity. These meristem identity genes such as TFL1 and LFY can be applied in breeding of earl-flowering cultivars, there also have plenty of potentials in breeding fruit-free plantanus, popular or willows.

This study was designed to discover filovirus entry inhibitors in a drug library of commercial medicines. One thousand and six hundred drugs were screened using the ZEBOV-GP/HIV model, a pseudovirus formed by an HIV-core packed with the Zaire Ebola virus glycoprotein. We identified 12 gonadal hormone drugs with inhibitory activities in ZEBOV-GP/HIV entry at final concentration of 10 μmol x L(-1). Among them, three drugs exhibited strong activities with IC50 < 1 μmol x L(-1), such as toremifene citrate (IC50: 0.19 ± 0.02 μmol x L(-1)), tamoxifen citrate (IC50: 0.32 ± 0.01 μmol x L(-1)) and clomiphene citrate (IC50: 0.53 ± 0.02 μmol x L(-1)); seven drugs had moderate activities with IC50 between 1 and 10 μmol x L(-1), such as estradiol benzoate (IC50: 1.83 ± 5.69 μmol x L(-1)), raloxifene hydrochloride (IC50: 3.48 ± 0.07 μmol x L(-1)), equilin (IC50: 4.00 ± 9.94 μmol x L(-1)), estradiol (IC50: 5.26 ± 9.92 μmol x L(-1)), quinestrol (IC50: 6.36?5.37 gmol-L1), estrone (IC50: 6.87 ± 0.03 μmol-L1) and finasteride (IC50: 9.94 ± 0.45 μmol x L(-1)); two drugs, hexestrol (IC50: 14.20 ± 0.55 μmol x L(-1)) and chlormadinone acetate (IC50: 24.60 ± 0.36 μmol x L(-1)), had weak activities against ZEBOV. Further, toremifene citrate, tamoxifen citrate, clomiphene citrate, raloxifene hydrochloride and quinestrol could block both pseudovirus type Sudan ebola virus (SEBOV-GP/HIV) and Marburg virus (MARV-GP/HIV) entries.

Journal of Central South University(Medical Sciences) 2009;34(7):576-581
Objective Using mouse autoimmune premature ovary failure (POF) model to seek theoretical evidence for a possible clinical therapy of autoimmune POF with glucocorticoid (GC) or an-drogen. Methods After autoimmune POF was induced in 60 mice by Pzp3, the mice were randomly as-signed into 3 groups (n=20) : Two groups were treated with GC or androgen and the control group was treated with distilled water. We observed the changes in the sexual cycles of the mice, the serum level of AzpAb, infiltration of cells positively expressing CD45 in the ovary, and pathological alterations of the ovary. Results The sexual cycle of each therapy group was significantly different from that of the control group. The mean serum level of AzpAb of each therapy group was significantly lower than that of the con-trol group, and the mean serum level of AzpAb in the GC group was significantly higher than that of the androgen group. The percentage of growing follicles in the ovary of each therapy group was significantly higher than that of the control group. Ovaries infiltrated by cells positively expressing CD45 of each thera-py group were significantly fewer than those of the control group. Conclusion GC or androgen in mice with autoimmune POF could obviously ameliorate the pathogenetic conditions of the disorder, and both treatments have similar therapeutic efficacy.

It is to observe the therapeutic action of Guizhi Fuling capsule and the combination of active ingredients on model rats with uterine leiomyoma. The hysteromyoma rats models was established in rats by loading eatrogen, to observe the effect on pathological condition of uterus, uterus wet weight, the content of estradiol and progesterone. Guizhi Fuling capsule and the combination of active ingredients remarkably decreased uterus weight, restrained the excess proliferation of the smooth muscle of uterus, decreased the estraiol and progesterone in blood serum. Guizhi Fuling capsule and the combination of active ingredients can restrain the formation of hysteromyoma in a dose-dependent manner. Perhaps the combination of active ingredients is the material foundation of antihysteromyoma.
