2.Significance of Detection of Level of Serum Sex Hormone in Healthy Children
Journal of Applied Clinical Pediatrics 1986;0(01):-
Objective To build a normal value of serum sex hormone in the healthy children in favour of the diagnosis of children precocious puberty and the evaluation of the growth of the children.Method Serum of 462 healthy children(aged from 1 month to 14 years;205 females,257 males)was collected, and the level of testosterone(T) and 17-estradiol(E2).Results There were no significant deviation in the levels of E2 of deferent genders between 1-12 months, but the level of T in boys and girls were obviously different. The puberty of boys was la-ter than girls. There was no significant deviation in the level of E2 of the boys in different periods, but the levels of T in boys at different ages were obviously different. Conclusions With the improvement the detection methods, the normal values of the serum sex hormone in healthy children have been changing. It is helpful for diagnosis of children precocious puberty by rebuilding normal values of T and E2 .

AIM:To investigate the protective effect of nerve growth factor combined with Ginkgo biloba extract on retinal ischemia-reperfusion (RIR) injury in rabbits with experimental high intraocular pressure.METHODS:Establishment of rabbit glaucoma ischemia reperfusion model.Twenty-four New Zealand white rabbits were randomly divided into three groups:nerve growth factor group, Ginkgo biloba extract group and combination group.Respectively, in the continuous administration of 1, 7, 14d.We observed the morphological changes of the tissues of the retina. The levels of superoxide dismutase(SOD), nitric oxide(NO) and malondialdehyde(MDA) in retinal tissue were measured.RESULTS:Respectively, first, in the continuous administration of 1, 7, 14d, the contents of MDA and NO in Ginkgo biloba extract group and nerve growth group were higher than that in combination group (P<0.05).Secondly, the SOD content of Ginkgo biloba extract group and nerve growth group were lower than that of combination group at each time point (P<0.05).At each time point, the number of HE staining of retinal ganglion cells (RGCs) showed that the loss of RGCs in the combination group was significantly lower than that in the other groups, and the ganglion cell count showed that the Ginkgo biloba extract group and the neuronal growth group were lower (P<0.05).CONCLUSION:Nerve growth factor combined with Ginkgo biloba extract has better protective effect on retinal ischemia-reperfusion injury. The mechanism may be related to the decrease of free radicals and increase the activity of SOD in retinal tissue.

Objective To investigate the incidence and possible reasons of patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) who stopped taking slow-acting antirheumatic drugs (SAADs).Methods Two hundreds and twenty-four in-or out-patients with RA were prospectively followed up for 4-year,and their demographic and clinical information and reasons of SAADs cessation were recorded. The difference between patients who stuck to SAADs and those who stopped SAADs and the factors that resulting the cessation were analyzed. Results ① Fourty-eight percent of 224 patients with RA ceased taking SAADs during 4-year period.② The main reasons of ceasing SAADs,provided by patients themselves, were side effects of SAADs,ineffectiveness, lack of knowledge about drugs, short of SAADs,concurrent diseases, and intention to pregnancy.③ There was significant difference in low income, poor educational status, number of tender joints, and rheumatoid factor level between the patients who stuck to SAADs and those who did not. Conclusion The high incidence of SAADs cessation in RA patients should rise concern. Both medical and patient factors contribute to the cessation.

The amino acid sequences of the NP,P, M, F,HN and L proteins of the paramyxovirus Tianjin strain were analyzed by using the bioinformatics methods. Phylogenetic analysis based on 6 structural proteins among the Tianjin strain and 25 paramyxoviruses showed that the Tianjin strain belonged to the genus Respirovirus, in the subfamily Paramyxovirinae, and was most closely related to Sendal virus (SeV). Phylogenetic analysis with 14 known SeVs showed that Tianjin strain represented a new evolutionary lineage. Similarities comparisons indicated that Tianjin strain P protein was poorly conserved, sharing only 78.7%-91.9% amino acid identity with the known SeVs, while the L protein was the most conserved, having 96.0%-98.0% amino acid identity with the known SeVs. Alignments of amino acid sequences of 6 structural proteins clearly showed that Tianjin strain possessed many unique amino acid substitutions in their protein sequences, 15 in NP, 29 in P, 6 in M, 13 in F, 18 in HN, and 29 in L. These results revealed that Tianjin strain was most likely a new genotype of SeV. The presence of unique amino acid substitutions suggests that Tianjin strain maybe has a significant difference in biological, pathological, immunological, or epidemiological characteristics from the known SeVs.

Abstract? AIM: To investigate changes of anterior chamber parameters after posterior chamber phakic implantable collamer lens ( ICL ) surgery and its correlation with intraocular pressure ( IOP) .?METHODS: This was a retrospective case series study. Seventy four eyes in 43 myopia patients were examined by Allegro Oculyzer anterior segment tomography to obtain the changes of anterior chamber volume ( ACV ) , anterior chamber angle ( ACA) , central anterior chamber depth ( ACD) and vault, meanwhile, to measure the IOP to analyze the correlation with anterior chamber parameters.?RESULTS: Compared with preoperative, ACV, ACA, ACD all decreased apparently ( P <0.01 ) in the postoperative period of 1, 3, and 6mo.ACV, ACA and ACD showed their stability in each period after the surgery. There were changes of vault in 1 and 6mo ( t=27.66, P=0.01).IOP had not altered when compared with the preoperative. This research revealed that IOP had no relation with ACV, ACA, ACD and vault in every phase( all P>0.05).?CONCLUSION:For patients underwent ICL, the anterior chamber parameters all decreased which included ACV, ACA, ACD, and had stabilized since early postoperative period. Correspondingly, IOP was stable and had not correlate with ACV, ACA, ACD and vault, however the long-term observation is still necessary.

Objective To investigate the anticancer effect of oxymatrine on cervical cancer cell line (HeLa). Methods MTT assay was used to detect the anti-proliferative effect of oxymatrine.Transwell chamber was used to detect the anti-metastatic effect of oxymatrine.Real-time PCR was used to detect the mRNA levels of MMP-2 and MMP-9.Western blot was used to detect the protein levels of MMP-2,MMP-9,AKT,p-AKT and GADPH. Results We found that application of oxymatrine significantly inhibited the growth of HeLa cells at the concentration above 0.8 mg/mL.We also found that oxymatrine (0.1,0.2 and 0.4 mg/mL)inhibited the invasion of HeLa cells under cytotoxic dose, which was (77.07±20.43)%,(53.95±18.17)% and (20.35±11.20)% of cells that migrated through the matrigel when compared with those of non-oxymatrine treatment group (P<0 .0 5 ). Further research found that oxymatrine (0.1,0.2 and 0.4 mg/mL)could reduce the expression of MMP-2 at the mRNA level,i.e.(82.76±8.71)%,(39.51±12.79)% and (21.53±5.38)% of the expression level when compared with that of non-oxymatrine treatment group (P<0 .0 5 ).The protein expression level of MMP-2 in 0 .4 mg/mL group was (64.69 ±16.52)% of non-oxymatrine treatment group (P<0.05).The phosphorylation level of AKT in 0.4 mg/mL group was (41.27±7.13)% of non-oxymatrine treatment group (P<0.05).Conclusion Oxymatrine can inhibit the invasion of HeLa cells by reducing the expression of MMP-2 via inhibiting the activity of AKT signal pathway. All together, our findings bring new insights into the mechanism of the anticancer effects induced by oxymatrine treatment.
