Chinese Journal of Geriatrics 2012;31(8):662-665
Objective To understand the clinical feature of the elderly patients with diabetes during coronary angiography, and analyze the risk factors of contrast-induced nephropathy (CIN).Methods The clinical data of 269 elderly patients who had undergone coronary angiography and percutaneous coronary intervention(PCI) from January 2007 to December 2009 in our hospital were analyzed retrospectively. The patients were divided into two groups:CIN group and non-CIN group. The possible risk factors for CIN,such as glycemic control, diabetic complication, renal function, volume of contrast medium, inflammatory state, therapy of perioperative period, past medical history were analyzed and compared between the two groups. Results In 269 elderly patients with diabetes, the incidence of CIN was 9.3 % (25/269).According to estimated glomerular filtration rate (e-GFR),the patients were divided into four subgroup:≥90 ml/min,89-60 ml/min,59-30 ml/min,<29 ml/min.The incidences of CIN for the subgroups were 2.2%(1/45),4.4%(6/135),17.3%(14/81) and 50 % (4/8),respectively.Multivariate logistic gradual regressive analysis showed that loop diuretic use (OR> 6.07),preoperative e-GFR(<60 ml/min) (OR>3.27),volume of contrast medium (≥200ml) (OR>3.26),chronic kidney disease(CKD) (OR>2.80) (P=0.001,0.024,0.015,0.048) were indepen-dent risk factors for CIN (P<0.05). Conclusions Loop diuretic use, preoperative GFR (<60 ml/min),volume of contrast medium (≥200 ml) and CKD are independent risk factors of CIN.

According to morphological and microscopic characteristics, a high-efficient decolorizing fungus, the strain Asaw117, was identified as Aspergillus awamori. Selecting eight different dyes from Azo dyes, anthraquinones dyes and oxygen Quinones dyes, the decolorizing assays of various dyes showed that the strain Asaw 117 was the highest decolorizing potential to 0.1 g/L Vat Blue RSN, the discoloration rate up to 100 percent. Comparing to different kinds of medium and several of carbon and nitrogen sources, the strain had the best decolorizing efficient although grew slower in the Czapek medium, otherwise, grew quicker and decolorizing efficient lower in the PDF medium. It could use Vat Blue RSN as a nitrogen source, but not as a carbon source. The medium composing of saccharose and ammonium nitrate as carbon and nitrogen sources was decolorizing potential markedly during different combinations of carbon and nitrogen sources. So the strain has good potential for the dyeing wastewater treatment

Bulletin of The Academy of Military Medical Sciences 2009;33(6):519-521
Communicable diseases are the major threats to the health and security of all the people living in Liberia, including UN peacekeepers from China. The most prevalent communicable diseases in Liberia include malaria, HIV/AIDS, acute respiratory infection, sexual transmitted disease, schistosomiasis, onchocerciasis, tuberculosis, cholera, pertussis, hepatitis, meningococcal disease, typhoid fever, Lassa fever and yellow fever. An insight into the profiles and epidemiology of the above epidemics in Liberia would greatly help peacekeepers with disease diagnosis and epidemic prevention. According to the profiles of epidemics in Liberia and the authors' experience in epidemic prevention in Liberia, the authors recommend that peacekeepers strengthen their epidemic prevention as follows. Firstly, a combined vector control strategy is suggested for the prevention and control of vector-borne diseases. Secondly, water safety should be highlighted by water disinfection and regular water quality testing. Thirdly, vaccines, diagnostic reagents and medications should be accordingly outfitted. Then, the awareness of epidemic prevention and individual hygiene should be improved by education and strict management. Finally, the daily life management for peacekeepers is also very important. The epidemic overviews and strategies for epidemic prevention described in this paper are also useful for all the other peacekeepers deployed in Africa.
