Objective To investigate the relative factors affecting long-term prognosis of visual acuity in diabetic patients after implantation of artificial lens. Methods A total of 86 eyes of 86 diabetic patients with implantation of artificial lens were enrolled in this study. The gender, age, core rigidity, course of disease, preoperative levels of blood sugar and HbA1c, insulin administration, anterior chamber inflammation at the first day after operation, hypertension, and hyperlipemia were recorded. Multi-factor relation analysis of visual acuity was performed at the first month and the third year after operation, respectively. Results The postoperative visual acuity at the first week after operation was related to the preoperative level of blood sugar and HbA1c, core rigidity, anterior chamber inflammation at the first day after operation and types of operation(P

Objective: To study the chemical constituents of the volatile oil from the stems of Syringa pinnatifolia var. alashanensis. Methods: The volatile oil from the stems of S. pinnatifolia var. alashanensis was obtained by steam distillation. They were isolated by chromatography on silica gel, Sephadex LH-20 columns and TLC, etc. The structures were elucidated by spectroscopic methods, including extensive 1D and 2D NMR techniques. Results: Five sesquiterpenes were isolated from the volatile oil. Conclusion: Compound 1 is a new sesquiterpene. © 2013 Tianjin Press of Chinese Herbal Medicines.

Objective To observe effect of Guben Xiaoliu capsule combined with FOLFOX4 regimen in treating advanced colorect cancer patients. Methods 78 advanced colorect cancer patients were randomly assigned to treatment group (38 patients) and control group (40 patients). Oxaliplatin 85 mg/m2 iv infusion for 2 hours,d1. CF 200 mg/m2 iv infusion for 2 hours followed by 5-FU 400 mg/m2 iv infusion for 22 hours,d1-2. Every two weeks was a cycle. The control group was treated by FOLFOX4 regimen, while Guben Xiaoliu capsule was added in the treatment group. Patients were evaluated after 4 cycles. Results Clinical beneficial rate (CR+PR+SD) of treatment and contral group were 76.3% and 57.5% respectively (P

Journal of International Oncology 2011;38(8):633-635
ObjectiveTo evaluate the application value of magnetic resonance diffusion weighted imaging (DWI)in diagnosis and differential diagnosis of prostate cancer. Methods53 Cases of suspected prostate cancer patients with elevated prostate-specific antigen, abnormaldigital rectal examination or ultrasound examination were underwent DWI examination before operation. Apparent dispersion coefficient was measured and compared to pathological results. Results There were 15 cases of prostate cancer, 37 cases of benign prostate hyperplasia and one prostatic intraepithelial neoplasia. When b =1 000 s/mm2 ,the ADC values of foci area in prostate cancer group and peripheral zone in benign prostate hyperplasia group were (0.813 ±0.25) × 10-3mm/8 and (1.45±0.24) × 10-3mm/s respectively, and the difference had statistical significance(t =-26. 117,P <0. 01 ). When b =60D s/mm2, the ADC values of foci area in prostate cancer group and peripheral zone in benign prostate hyperplasia group were ( 1.03 ± 0. 27) × 10-3 mm/s and ( 1.62 ± 0. 33) × 10- 3 mm/s respectively, and the difference had statistical significance( t =- 24. 191, P < 0. 01 ). The area under the ROC curves was 0.862, and the sensitivity and specificity of DWI were 78.1% and 91.5% respectively.ConclusionDWI can provide quantitative information for prostate cancer diagnosis and differential diagnosis, therefore it possesses a good clinical application value.

Objective To investigate the effects of ω-3 polyunsaturated fatty acid (ω-3 PUFA) on acute lung injury (ALI) in a rat model of traumatic shock. Methods Thirty-six male Wistar rats aged 3 months were randomly assigned into 3 groups ( n = 12 each): control group (group C) ; traumatic shock group (group TS) and ω-3 PUFA + TS group (group to-3 PUFA) . Traumatic shock was induced by fracture of femur and hemorrhage according to the method described by Feeney in groups TS and ω-3 PUFA. In group ω-3 PUFA, ω-3 PUFA 2 ml/kg was injected via the caudal vein at 12 and 2 h before induction of traumatic shock. Arterial blood samples were taken at 120 min after traumatic shock was successfully induced for determination of serum concentrations of TNF-α, IL-1β, IL-10 and 8-iso-PGF2α by ELISA. The animals were then sacrificed and lungs were removed for-determination of W/D lung weight ratio and microscopic examination. Results Traumatic shock significantly increased serum concentrations of TNF-α, IL-1β, IL-10 and 8-iso-PGF2α, W/D ratio and pathologic scores of lung tissues in groups TS and ω-3 PUFA as compared with group C.ω-3 PUFA significantly attenuated traumatic shuck-induced increase in serum concentrations of TNF-α, IL-1β and 8-iso-PGF2α , W/D ratio and pathologic scores of lung tissues but further increased the serum IL-10 concentration in group ω-3 PUFA as compared with group TS. Conclusion ω-3 PUFA can significantly inhibit the svstemic inflammatory response and ameliorate traumatic shock-induced ALI.
