Objective To investigate the minimal invasive management of cystitis glandularis with invasion of the ureteric meatus. Methods The clinical data of 18 cases were reviewed.Among the 18 cystitis glandularis patients,12 cases were invasion of bilateral ureteric meatus and 6 of unilateral ureteric meatus.Operation or drug treatment was performed on the diseases that can cause cystitis glandularis such as bladder stone, bladder neck stegnosis, external urethral meatus stegnosis and benign prostate hyperplasia.Sensitive antibiotic was administrated in all cases. After placing ureter catheter, transurethral plasma electro-resection was carried out in five patients whose ureteric meatus could be identified. In addition,of thirteen patients with ureteral orifice unable to be identified, there were ten cases with normal renal function, mitomycin was injected under affected membrana mucosa, and then the patient with ureteral orifice identified underwent transurethral plasma electro-resection after placing ureter catheter. On the other hand, the patient whose ureteral orifice still could not be recognized undertaken transurethral electro-resection at first, during which the ureter catheter was put once ureteral orifice had been detected, otherwise, the ureter catheter should be placed through cystoscope if nephritic colic emerged and hydronephrosis aggravated after operation. In those patients with kidney dysfunction, the ureter catheter was put by ureter discission or ureter replantation at first, the transurethral electro-resection could not be executed until the renal function recovered.Following all these procedure above, bladder instillation of drugs regularly,anti-infection and symptomatic treatment were administrated. Results One patient combined with bladder adenocarcinoma received cystectomy,of the other patients, six cases recurred and underwent electrotomy again resulting in no relapse. All nephrohydrops vanished or relieved obviously, nevertheless, urinary tract infection, haematuria and bladder-ureter backstreaming as the cardinal complication developed in some cases. Conclusion In the management of cystitis glandularis encroaching ureteric meatus, total or partial cystectomy can be avoided if ureter draining freely can be ensured, motivation removal, antiinfection, injection of drug under mucosa and preoperative diuresis conduce to the achievement of ureter catheter placing, transurethral plasma electro-resection is still effective methods in treating these cystitis glandularis.

Objective To investigate the polymorphism of human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) UL144 gene of the low passage clinical isolates in Guangzhou and explore the role of UL144 gene in HCMV pathogenicity. Methods The clinical isolates of HCMV were obtained from the urine sample collected from those infants with intra-uterus HCMV infection in Guangzhou. The virus genome DNA was extracted. According to the genome sequence of Toledo, primers for UL144 gene were designed and used to amplify the complete open reading frames (ORF) of the UL144 gene in our 3 different clinical isolates. These ORFs of the UL144 gene were cloned into pMD18-T vector and their sequences were confirmed by sequencing. Bioinformatics methods were used subsequently to analyze the polymorphisms of these genes in different stains. Results Three HCMV low passage clinical isolates were successfully isolated, named D2, D3 and D52. As shown by PCR, all of these three strains contained UL144 ORF region. Three complete ORFs were amplified in total and their sequences were submitted to GenBank (Accession No.: DQ180368, DQ180382 and DQ180355). In D2, D3 and D52 isolates, their UL144 ORFs consisted of 531 nucleotides. DNA sequences were quite conservative, all variability were base substitution, and the amino acid sequences were high conservative, the rate of amino acid variability was 1.1%. There were no additional or deleted sites of posttranslational modification of UL144 protein in all clinical isolates. There were some differences in the secondary structure among different isolates. The isoelectric point of UL144 protein of all clinical isolates was 8.97. Conclusions All DNA and deduced amino acid sequences of UL144 gene share great similarity among Guangzhou HCMV clinical strains regardless of their polymorphism. It implies that maybe UL144 gene plays an important role in congenital infection.

OBJECTIVEWe aim to investigate the sonodynamic effect induced by hydroxyl acetylated curcumin (HAC) on THP-1 macrophages.
METHODSTHP-1 derived macrophages (1 x 10(5) per milliliter) were cultured with HAC at a concentration of 5 µg/mL for 4 h and then exposed to pulse ultrasound treatment (0.5 W/cm2) for 5 min. Six hours later, cell viability analysis was performed with CCK-8 assay, apoptosis and necrosis analysis were detected with Annexin V/PI staining by flow cytometery.
RESULTSThe cell viability of THP-1 macrophage decreased significantly in the group treated with the combination of HAC and ultrasound (P < 0.01), and HAC-SDT induced both apoptosis and necrosis in THP-1 macrophages, the apoptotic rate was higher than the necrotic rate with appropriate conditions, the maximum apoptosis/necrosis ratio was detected in sonodynamic therapy (SDT) group (P < 0.01).
CONCLUSIONhAC-SDT was effective to induce THP-1 macrophages apoptosis.
