Objective To study the effects of self-management education on quality of life in children with asthma. Methods Seventy-five out-patients and in-patients with asthma were randomlydivided into 2 groups. The educational group(38 cases)received the basic knowledge education of asthma and self-management,while the control group received only the basic knowledge education of asthma.A inquiry was conducted in all patients using a Chinese PAQLQ(pediatric asthma quality of life questionnaire)before and 6 months after the treatment. The correlation and difference between 2 groups were analyzed. Results There were no significant difference before the therapy. After 6 months's treatment, there were uptrends on scorecard in some fields in such as symptom, activity, emotion and the total score in all patients(P

Journal of Applied Clinical Pediatrics 2006;0(20):-
Objective To explore the psychomotor development in 12 month old infants born after in vitro fertilization with a control group of infants concieved naturally. Methods A matched control study was performed on psychomotor development of 12-month-old infants concieved with use of assisted reproductive technology(in vitro fertilization only). The control group was matched according to maternal age, parity, social class and level of parental education. The suitable mothers were invited to participate at the 28th week of gestation and were followed up to delivery. The infants of the two groups were followed up to 12 months old and a formal developmental assessment was done with the Children Development Center of China(CDCC) scales of infant development. Results The incidences of preterm birth, low birth weight and twin pregnancy were significantly higher in the assisted conception group. No statistically significant difference was found in the mental development index and psychomotor development index between assisted conception and control groups. Conclusions The levels of psychomotor development in 12 months old infants born after in vitro fertilization are normal. But as the incidences of preterm birth, low birth weight and multifetation are significantly higher in vitro fertilization group,it need to follow up the ongoing development of these children.

Glioblastoma is a malignant tumor in central nervous system, which has strong invasion, poor prognosis and short survival time. At present, the main treatment strategy of glioblastoma is surgical excision, supplemented by radiotherapy and chemotherapy. However, due to incomplete resection and high recurrence rate, it is urgent to find novel therapeutic method for glioblastoma. Photodynamic therapy, as a promising non-surgical treatment, provides a new strategy for postoperative adjuvant therapy of glioblastoma. This review summarizes the mechanism and clinical application of photodynamic therapy mediated by various photosensitizers in glioblastoma, in order to provide help for the treatment of glioblastoma.

Chinese Journal of Clinical Infectious Diseases 2010;03(5):263-266
Objective To evaluate cerebrospinal fluid adenosine deaminase(CSF-ADA)activity in the diagnosis of tuberculous meningitis(TMB), and to observe its dynamic changes. Methods A total of 160 patients were included and were divided into two groups: 76 cases of TBM and 84 cases of non-TBM.Among the cases of non-TBM, there were 36 cases of bacterial meningitis, 30 cases of viral meningitis and 18 cases of cryptocoocal meningitis. All the patients were measured with their CSF-ADA activity by Enzymecoupled assay(Trinder method)and 47 patients of TBM were measured again after 2 weeks' and 6 weeks'antitubercular therapy. Results were expressed as(-x)± s. Mann-Whitney U test and paired-samples t test were used. Results CSF-ADA activity in TBM group was(12.9 ±6.4)U/L, while that in the non-TBM group was(6.0 ± 4.1)U/L, the difference was of statistical significance(U = 7.860, P < 0.05). With the cutoff value of 9 U/L, the sensitivity and specificity to differentiate TBM from non-TBM was 84.21% and 83. 33%, respectively. CSF-ADA activity decreased in TBM patients after antitubercular treatment. Conclusions CSF-ADA activity can be an effective laboratory marker for early differential diagnosis of TMB with the cut-off value of 9 U/L. Dynamic changes of CSF-ADA activity may be a indicator for the effect of antitubercular treatment.

[Summary] A 19-year-old male patient with central diabetes insipidus complained of polydipsia and polyuria and was found to be accompanied by cervical vertebra lesions. The diagnosis of Langerhans cell histiocytosis was confirmed by laboratory and pathological results. Therefore,it should be alert to consider the possibility of Langerhans cell histiocytosis in a patient with central diabetes insipidus coexisting with the signs of multisystem lesions such as bone disease.

Chinese Journal of Behavioral Medicine and Brain Science 2010;19(1):33-35
Objective To study the function and diurnal variation of hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis and hypothalamic-pituitary-thyroid(HPT) axis, and the relationship with clinical characteristics of di-urnal rhythm in depressed patients. Methods Forty-nine depressed patients met diagnostic DSM-Ⅳ criteria and thirty-eight normal controls were collected. The plasma levels of cortisol (CORT), adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH), T3, T4, thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) at 7 am and 7 pm were measured by radioimmunoassay, then the results concemed were compared among the depressed groups with and without diurnal variation and control group by multivariate analysis of variance. Results The plasma level of morning CORT, morning and evening TSH ((365.94±120.78) nmol/L; (6.24±2.47)μIU/ml; (6.68±2.42)μIU/ml; respectively) were respective-ly higher than those of control group((284.91±83.39) nmol/L; (3.82±1.75)μIU/ml;(4.01±1.69)μIU/ ml, P<0.05). The plasma levels of morning and evening T4 were significantly lower than those of control group(P <0.05). The CORT morning-evening difference variable distinguished between depressed and control group (P< 0.001),but no significant differences could be found between the depressed groups with and without diurnal varia-tion. There were no significant differences in the CORT, T3, T4, TSH morning-evening difference variable between various clinical subtypes of depressed patient (unipolar/bipolar; psychotic/nonpsychotic). Conclusion Abnormal CORT morning-evening difference variable was observed in the depressed patients compared with normal controls, and may be used as a special trait mark of depressed group.

Scientific research output of clinical trials in Chinese medicine (CM) is insufficient, but international papers hold an important scientific position in China. Based on the current situation, we analyzed the present publication situation of international medical papers in our country, and the feasibility and urgency of publishing international papers on clinical trials of CM. Finally, we proposed to use the PDCA (plan-do-check-action) cycle method to improve the quality control and management of CM clinical trials. Moreover, by combining our experience in relevant scientific research launched at our department, we expounded strategies for improving the quantity and quality of international papers in CM.

Microbiology 1992;0(06):-
In order to improve the production of agro-antibiotic 2-16,the producing strain(Streptomyces ahygroscopicus var.huangshanensis) was treated by protoplast regeneration, ultraviolet radiation,NTG mutagenesis and low energy C~(+) ion implantation. At last,a high-yield strain No.515 was obtained. The production of ~()No.515 was increased by 223.10%.By using Plackett-Burman design and Response Surface Analysis provided by SAS software, the cultivation condition of No.515 was optimized. The amount of agro-antibiotic 2-16 was increased by 38.53% when the strain No.515 was cultivated in the optimum medium instead of the initial one.
