Objective To explore the change of sexual life quality and its influencing factors of premenopausal breast cancer patients.Methods 94 premenopausal breast cancer patients were included. Changes in Sexual Functioning Questionnaire short-form (CSFQ-14) was used and part of its items was changed. Their sexual life was evaluated before and after treatment by using depth interview and anonymous methods. Results 94 cases received face-to-face communication and study. 88 (93.6%) questionnaires were received, in which 81 (92.1%) questionnaires were effective. Their sexual life quality and sexual satisfaction significantly decreased and there was significant difference in the CSFQ-14 score (P<0.001) before and after treatment. The ratio of bad, worse, and worst sexual life were 39.5%, 29.6%, and 14.8% respectively after treatment. 65.4% of the patients had no sexual activity. The reasons included medical related factors, fear of cancer metastasis and recurrence, physical discomfort, poorer body image, partner sexual attitudes changed, life stress, common psychological problems, traditional ideas and so on. Conclusion Sexual dysfunction was obvious and sexual life quality significantly decreased in premenopausal breast cancer patients after treatment. Patients' physical and mental damage, the change of body image and spouse's attitude are significant influencing factors. It is necessary to give sexual rehabilitation guidance to patients and their spouses.

OBJECTIVE:To evaluate the quality of levofloxacin tablets produced by 6 different factories.METHODS:To investigate the quality of 17 batches of levofloxacin tablets produced by 6 factories according to related standards and to evaluate the drug dissolubilities using paddle method.RESULTS:17 products from six factories were all proved qualified.Significant differences of dissolution parameters and treatment costs were found among the different products.CONCLUSION:There are difference in quality of levofloxacin tablets.The tablets produced by the factory holding the patent right are more expensive,however the qualiity is more stable.

Objective To evaluate diagnostic value of plasma D-dimer (D-D),fibrinogen (Fg) and Ddimer/fibrinogen (D/F) ratio in acute lower extremity deep vein thrombosis (DVT) after artificial joint replacement.Methods From August 2009 to December 2011,273 patients who had undergone total hip arthroplasty (THA) or total knee arthroplasty (TKA) underwent venography of lower extremity deep vein at 35 days postoperatively.According to results of angiography,all patients were divided into DVT group including 66 patients (15 males and 51 females,median age 66 years) and non-DVT group including 207 patients (70 males and 137 females,median age 63 years).Plasma levels of D-D and Fg were measured by immunoturbidimetry and solidification methods respectively preoperatively and at 3-5 days postoperatively.The differences of plasma levels of D-D and Fg and D/F ratio between the two groups were analyzed with statistical method.Furthermore,diagnostic value of postoperative plasma D-D and D/F ratio in acute DVT was assessed using a receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve.Results There was no statistical significance in preoperative plasma levels of D-D and Fg,and postoperative plasma levels of Fg between two groups.However,the postoperative plasma levels of D-D and D/F ratio were higher in the DVT group than those in the nonDVT group,and there was significant difference between two groups.In addition,the ROC curve analysis showed that the area under curve of postoperative plasma D-D and D/F ratio was 0.688 and 0.684,respectively,but this difference did not reach statistical significance.Conclusion Plasma Fg may be meaningless for the diagnosis of acute DVT after artificial joint replacement.Although plasma D-D and D/F ratio may be useful for diagnosing acute DVT,the diagnostic accuracy is low.

Objective To investigate the effect of intra-articular carboxymethylated ehitosan(CM- CTS)injection on inducible nitric oxide synthase(iNOS)expression in cartilage at the early stage of os- teoarthfitis(OA).Methods Thirty-two white rabbits were underwent unilateral anterior cruciate ligament transection(ACLT)and were randomly divided into 4 groups 5 weeks after transection.Rabbits of group A re- ceived 0.3 ml of 2% high molecular weight CMCTS(H-CMCTS)once every two weeks.Rabbits in group B were treated using 2% low molecular weight(L-CMCTS)CMCTS at:the same intervals.Group C rabbits were injected intra-articularly with 0.3 ml of 1% sodium hyaluronate(Na-HA)once a week.Animals of group D were not injected.At sacrifice,11 weeks following surgery,the expression of iNOS in cartilages was analyzed by immunohistochemistry and reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR)methods.Results Both immunohistochemistry and RT-PCR showed that the level of iNOS expression of cartilage in CMCTS in- jection groups was lower than that in Na-HA injection group and the untreated group.There was no significant difference in iNOS expression between the two different molecular weight CMCTS injection groups. No signifi- cant difference of iNOS expression in cartilage was found between Na-HA injection group and the untreated group.Conclusion CMCTS suppresses iNOS expression in cartilage during the early stage of OA.Na-HA treatment has no effect on iNOS expression in cartilage.

Proper chromosome separation in both mitosis and meiosis depends on the correct connection between kinetochores of chromosomes and spindle microtubules.Kinetochore dysfunction can lead to unequal distribution of chromosomes during cell division and result in aneuploidy,thus kinetochores are critical for faithful segregation of chromosomes.Centromere protein A (CENP-A) is an important component of the inner kinetochore·plate.Multiple studies in mitosis have found that deficiencies in CENP-A could result in structural and functional changes of kinetochores,leading to abnormal chromosome segregation,aneuploidy and apoptosis in cells.Here we report the expression and function of CENP-A during mouse oocyte meiosis.Our study found that microinjection of CENP-A blocking antibody resulted in errors of homologous chromosome segregation and caused aneuploidy in eggs.Thus,our findings provide evidence that CENP-A is critical for the faithful chromosome segregation during mammalian oocyte meiosis.

Rhynchosia volubilis Lour has been a major drug in a folk prescription for contraception in China, whereas its mechanism remains unknown. Its antifertility effects on male mice and antimicrobial activities on sexually transmitted infection (STI) pathogens were previously reported. This study was undertaken to develop the n-Butanol extract of Rhynchosia volubilis Lour (BERVL) as a spermicidal agent with STI prevention. The spermicidal activities of BERVL with different doses were assessed using selected high-motile sperms of normal human semen samples, and their inhibitory effects on Lactobacillus acidophilus were determined. The mechanism of the spermicidal activity was explored by aqueous Eosin Y and Hoechst 33342/PI staining. The results showed spermicidal activities and inhibitory effects of BERVL on Lactobacillus acidophilus were dose-dependent. Dose of 90 mg/mL BERVL terminated all progressive sperm motility within 2 min, and had slight inhibitory effect on Lactobacillus acidophilus, suggesting it was an effective and safe dose for contraception use. About 80% sperms exposed to BERVL displayed changes consistent with high permeability of head membrane. It is concluded that BERVL as spermicide has advantages over N-9 with strong ability to instantaneously kill human sperm and possesses light inhibitory effect on Lactobacillus acidophilus.

Objective To discuss the technical method,safety and clinical efficacy of CT-guided 125I radioactive seed implantation for the treatment of mediastinal lymph node metastases.Methods CT-guided 125I radioactive seed implantation was carried out in 11 patients with mediastinal lymph node metastases.Before 125I seed implantation,the interstitial brachytherapy treatment planning system (TPS) was employed to formulate a treatment plan.The particles with radioactivity of (1.11-2.96) × 107Bq (0.3-0.8 mCi) were used for the implantation.Postoperative complications were recorded.The local lesion control rate and the effective rate of pain relief were evaluated at one,3,6 and 12 months after 125I seed implantation.Results After 125I seed implantation,pneumothorax occurred in 3 patients,tracheal fistula in one patient,and pulmonary infection in one patient.The local lesion control rates at one,3,6 and 12 months were 81.8％,90.9％,72.7％ and 72.7％ respectively;the effective rate of pain relief at one week,one,3,6 and 12 months were 100％,90.9％,90.9％,81.8％ and 72.7％ respectively.Conclusion For the treatment of mediastinal lymph node metastases,CT-guided radioactive 125I seed implantation is less-invasive with less complications,and it carries reliable local lesion control rate.Therefore,this technique is a safe therapeutic means.

OBJECTIVETo analyze the reliability of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in detecting posterior ligament complex injury in thoracolumbar fractures.

METHODSNinety-five patients with thoracolumbar fracture were evaluated by palpation of the inter-spinal gap, plain radiography, and MRI before operation. In addition to conventional MRI sequences, a fat-suppressed T2-weighted sagittal sequence was performed. Surgery was performed by a posterior approach. During the operation, posterior ligament complex was examined.

RESULTSA wide inter-spinal gap was palpated in 41 patients and was found in 55 patients on plain radiography. According to MRI, injury to the supraspinal ligament was suspected in 85 patients, the inter-spinal ligament in 83 patients, and the ligamentum flavum in 26 patients. There were 82 supraspinal ligament injuries, 80 inter-spinal ligament injuries, and 20 ligamentum flavum injuries in operative findings. The relations between plain radiography and operative findings, between MRI interpretation and operative findings were statistically significant.

CONCLUSIONA fat-suppressed T2-weighted sagittal sequence of MRI is a highly sensitive, specific, and accurate method to detect posterior ligament complex injury and which is recommended for the accurate evaluation of posterior ligament complex injury in thoracolumbar fractures.

OBJECTIVETo study the value of the metal clips and endoloop snare for gastric wall defect after endoscopic full-thick resection(EFR).

METHODSAll the patients who underwent complete closure of gastric wall defect after endoscopic full-thick resection with metal clips and endoloop snare in the Endoscopy Center of Zhongshan hospital from March 2011 to October 2011 were retrospectively studied. The feasibility, safety, and efficacy were evaluated.

RESULTSFourteen patients were included in this study. The median age was 49(32-63) years. Lesions located in the gastric body in 5 cases, the gastric fundus in 8 cases, and the gastric antrum and body junction in 1 case. The were diameter was 0.6-3.0 cm. Complete closure rate was 100% using this technique. The median repair time was 12(8-20) min. No patients were converted to surgery or laparoscopic surgery. Four patients complained of abdomen pain with elevated body temperature, and ultrasonography showed minor peritoneal fluid in 2 cases, which were drained. These four cases were asked to maintain semi-reclining position and were put on fasting, continuous gastrointestinal decompression, and received antibiotics. They were discharged after 1-3 days. All the patients were followed up with a median time of 3(1-8) months. Nylon and clips residual were removed endoscopically and the wound healing was satisfactory.

CONCLUSIONMetal clips and endoloop snare is safe and effective for the closure of gastric wall defect after EFR.

Background The incidence of retinal vascular diseases increase annually,such as diabetic retinopathy,retinopathy of prematurity and age-related macular degeneration.The key of treatment for these diseases is how to evaluate retinal vascular change effectively and objectively.Retro-orbital injection of fluorescein isothiocyanatedextran (FITC-dextran) is a simple and effective method for observing C57BL/6J mouse retinal vessels.But,whether it is suitable for other mice and rats is seldom reported.Objective This experiment was to assess the feasibility of the observation of retinal vessels by retro-orbital injection of FITC-dextran in different genus of mouse and offer the reference for relevant study.Methods Twelve animals of C57BL/6J mice,Kunming mice,SD rats and Wistar rats were selected,respectively and divided into the experimental group and control group at average.The right eyes of the animals of the experimental group received the retro-orbital injection of 9 ml/kg FITC-dextran,and the right eyes of animals of the control group received PBS solution at the same volume and way.All the animals were sacrificed 10 seconds after injection and both eyes of each animal were obtained for retinal stretched preparation.The retrobulbar tissue and whole-mount retina were viewed under a fluorescence microscope.The use of the animals complied with Regulation for the Administration of Affair Concerning Experimental Animals by State Science and Technology Commission.Results Retinal blood vessels labeled by FITC-dextran could be observed in both eyes of C57BL/6J mice and Kunming mice to present with a green fluorescence in experimental group under a fluorescence microscope,but no any fluorescence-labeled retinal blood vessel was exhibited in the control mice.The retinal blood vessel could not be observed in all eyes of SD rats and Wistar rats after the injection of FITC-dextran both in the experimental group and the control group under a fluorescence microscope.The surrounding tissues of the right eyes of mice and rats dyed with green fluorescence of FITC-dextran in the experimental group,however,green fluorescence could not be seen in the surrounding tissues of the left eyes of mice and rats.Conclusions Retro-orbital injection of FITC-dextran is a suitable method of observing the retinal vessels of mouse but not rat.
