Objective To investigate effects of volume, distribution and leakage of bone cement in ver- tebroplasty on the adjacent intervertebral bodies using an experimentally calibrated and anatomically accurate fi- nite-element model of elderly L4-L5 vertebral bodies. Methods Computed tomography(CT)scanning was done,at 1 mm intervals,on L4-L5 vertebral bodies of the lumbar spine of an old man cadaver that had no abnormal findings on rnentgenograms. The L4-L5 motion segment data were obtained from the CT scans to establish in computer a three-dimensional finite element model of L4-L5 functional spinal unit(FSU)with the software Ansys 7.0.Compressive load after virtual vertebroplasty on the damaged model, unipedicular and bipedieolar injections and leakage of cement into the intervertebral space, and the resulting endplate and disc stresses of the adjacent vertebral bodies were analyzed in various spatial distributions of the filling material and different loading conditions. An anatomically accurate finite-element model of elderly L4-L5 vertebral bodies was developed. Results The FSU study suggested that changes in stress and strain at adjacent levels were minimal.Furthermore, endplale and disc stresses of the adjacent vertebral bodies were not influenced by bone cement filling volumes or distributions except under bending, whereas asymmetric distribution and leakage of bone cement to the disk increased the stress of adjacent endplates. Conclusion Since asymmetric distribution and significant leakage of cement into the intervertebral space can increase the stresses of endplates of adjacent vertebral bodies and may lead to a fracture, symmetric placement of cement in operation should be achieved and leakage of cement avoided.

Objective To study the value of leptin, adiponeetin and interleukin (IL-1,IL-6,IL-8) in diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis of cerebral infarction.Method The levels of serum leptin ,adiponectin and IL-1,IL-6,IL-8 in acute cerebral infarction before and after treatment were determined with ELISA as well as in the healthy controls. The relationship between these indices and nerve function injury was studied. Results The levels of serum leptin and IL-1,IL-6,IL-8 in the patients increased significantly, but the controls didn't (P

Acta Anatomica Sinica 1957;0(04):-
The projection area of the volar surface of the human hand was estimated on 52 young Chinese adults(26 males and 26 females.)ranging in age from 18 to 31. The average projection area of the volar surface of the hand was 145.20 square centimetres. It occupied 0.93% of the calculated body surface. The area of the palm was 86.69 square centimetres, amounting to 59.70% of the volar surface of the whole hand. All dimensions of different parts of the hand of males were larger than those of females. There was no difference between the right and left hands of both sexes. The coefficient of correlation among the body length, body weight, length and width of the hand, surface area of the whole body with the projection area of the volar surface of the hand was calculated. All showed close correlation. The regression of the estimation of the projection area of the volar surface of the hand with hand length and hand width was established. It is therefore to be assumed that the area of the volar surface of the hand calculated as one per cent of the body area, as it is often used in surgical examina- tions, seems to be a little higher than its real area(0.93%.

The surface-enhanced Raman spectra of bilirubin and biliverdin were obtained.By the bands analysis of the spectra, the orientation of bilirubin and biliverdin on the surface of silver colloid was discussed. In such case, the bilirubin was adsorbed on the silver colloid particle with the two planar pyrromethenone groups intercalated into the globe silver colloid particle, however, the biliverdin might lie flat on the surface of silver colloid with syn-synsyn conformation.

ObjectiveTo investigate the long term effect of different antihypertensive agents on renal hemodynamics with ultrasound Doppler.Methods52 essential hypertensive patients were divided into three groups according to the antihypertensive agent they took: angiotensin-converting-enzyme inhibitor (ACEI), calcium channel blocker (CCB) and β-adrenoceptor blocker (βB). The blood pressures of right upper arms were measured with mercury column blood pressure gauge using Korotkoff method. Renal hemodynamics were examined with ultrasound Doppler before and after treatment with agents. ResultsSystolic blood pressure (SBP) and diastolic blood pressure (DBP) of all patients were decreased significantly. An significant correlation was found between the deceases of blood pressure and the betterment of renal homodynamic parameters in ACEI and CCB groups, but not in βB group. ConclusionTo a degree, the betterment of renal hemodynamics is correlation with the reduction of systemic blood pressure and mechanism of action of antihypertensive agents.

This meta-analysis aimed to comprehensively assess the efficacy and safety of hepatic resection combined with radiofrequency ablation versus hepatic resection (HR) alone for the treatment of multifocal hepatoeellular carcinomas (HCC).A literature search was conducted from the database including MEDLINE,Embase,Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials (CENTRAL) and China Biology Medicine (CBM) disc. The primary outcomes included the 1-,3-,5-year overall survival (OS) and disease-free survival (DFS) rate. The secondary outcomes contained the intraoperative parameters and postoperative adverse events (AEs).These parameters were all analyzed by RevMan 5.3 software. After carefully screening relevant studies, four retrospective studies of high quality involving 466 patients (197 in the combined group and 269 in the HR group) were included in this study. The pooled results showed that the 1-,3-,5-year OS rate in the combined group were comparable with those in the HR group (OR=0.77,0.96,0.88;P=0.33,0.88,0.70,respectively).Similarly,there was no significant difference in 1-,3-,5-year DFS rate between the combined group and the HR alone group (OR=0.57,0.83,0.72;P=0.17,0.37,0.32,respectively).And the intraoperative parameters and postoperative AEs were also comparable between the above two cohorts. However, two included studies reported that tumor often recurred in the ablation site in the combined group. The present meta-analysis indicated that the HR combined with RFA could reach a long-term survival outcome similar to curative HR for multifocal HCC patients. And this therapy may be a promising alternative for these patients with marginal liver function or complicated tumor distribution.Furthermore, high quality randomized controlled trials (RCTs) are imperative to verify this conclusion.

Objective To investigate the influence factors of postoperative delirium in benign prostatic hyperplasia patients,so as to provide the basis for developing predictive assessment and establishing corresponding nursing intervention measures. Methods In this retrospective study, the clinical data of 210 patients with prostate surgery,of which 19 cases complicated with postoperative delirium during January 2010 and June 2012 were analyzed statistically. Results Postoperative delirium in patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia was a common result of multiple factors, the reason mainly were age, operation stress response, hyoxemia and pain, etc. Conclusions Providing predictive and corresponding nursing intervention after prostate operation can significantly reduce the incidence of postoperative delirium and promote the patients' recovery.
