1.Correlation study between nursing students′ sense of life meaning and death attitudes

Objective To analyze the relevance between the nursing students′ sense of life meaning and death attitudes. Methods 181 nursing students were surveyed with the Purpose In Life Test (PIL) and Death Attitude Profile-Revised (DAP-R), and then did the relevant statistical analysis. Results The nursing undergraduates′overall average of PIL was (91.45 ± 10.54) points, and the neutral acceptance death attitude got the highest scores which were 24.14 ± 5.78, while escape acceptance got the lowest scores which were 11.76 ± 3.61. And there was a significant negative correlation (r =-0.257, P <0.05) between the sense of life meaning and death attitudes. Conclusions There was a significant negative correlation between the sense of life meaning and death attitudes, the more sense of life meaning was, the more positive attitudes toward death would be. So it′s of great importance to provide life-and-death education to improve the nursing students′sense of life meaning and death attitudes.
2.Comparison of therapeutic effect of two types of blood purification on patients with severe acute organophosphate poisoning combined with myocardial injury

Objective To compare therapeutic effect of single hemoperfusion and hemoperfusion combined with continuous veno-venous hemofiltration ( sequential continuous blood purification) on patients with severe acute organophosphate poisoning combined with myocardial injury.Methods A total of 80 patients with severe acute organophosphate poisoning combined with myocardial injury admitted to EICU of Beijing Chaoyang Hospital from Jan.2004 to Dec.2013 were respectively analyzed and divided into two groups: hemoperfusion group (patients collected from Jan.2004 to Dec.2008, n=41) and sequential continuous blood purification (patients collected from Jan.2009 to Dec.2013, n =39).The average cholinesterase recovery time, the average consciousness recovery time, the average doses of atropine, the average hospital time, the change of cardiac troponin I levels on days 1, 2, 3, 5 and 7 after admission, and the change of left ventricular ejection fraction within 24 h after admission and after 24 h following blood purification treatment were compared between the two groups.Results Patients in the sequential continuous blood purification group had less average cholinesterase recovery time, average consciousness recovery time, average doses of atropine and average hospital time compared with patients in the hemoperfusion group [ ( 87.6 ±8.8 ) h vs.( 113.8 ±13.3 ) h;(57.3 ±11.7) h vs.(100.5 ±10.8) h;(284.5 ±61.4) mg vs.(476.6 ±93.1) mg and (10.2 ±2.3) vs. (14.6 ±3.9) , all P<0.01].The levels of cardiac troponin I on days 2, 3, 5 and 7, and ejection fraction of left ventricule after 24 h following blood purification treatment in the sequential continuous blood purification group were significantly decreased compared with patients in the hemoperfusion group ( all P <0.05 ) . Conclusion Therapeutic effect of sequential continuous blood purification on patients with severe acute organophosphate poisoning combined with myocardial injury is superior to single hemoperfusion.It suggests that sequential continuous blood purification could be used as a preferred choice in treatment of patients with severe acute organophosphate poisoning combined with myocardial injury.
3.Exploration of air medicine system and its operation

This paper introduced the importance of the air medicine system,and features and advantages of its development in the USA,Switzerland and Germany,and China's status quo.In view of the slow development of air medicine,imbalanced development and different operation models of air medicine systems in localities,and different models of emergency medicine services in the country,the paper proposed to build a model of government guidance and business operation as support for air medicine against emergency events,providing air ambulance service; to build an air medicine system featuring both public welfare and business operation,reasonable layout,timely response,and efficient operation,which will enhance the overall capacity of air medicine.
4.Quality Control of Plasma Lipids Measurement in CNHS 2002

Objective To describe the work of quality control for lipids measurement in CNHS 2002.Methods The quality control was applied over the whole project including staff training,making standard operating procedure(blood collection,separation,temporary storage,transportation,final storage),lab materials assignment,internal quality control in central lab and participating US Disease Control Center's Lipids Standard Program(LSP)as external quality control.Results Seven times of national training programs were held and 326 technicians from CDCs in 31 provinces,autonomous regions, municiplalities and 132 surveyed counties received related trainings.During the program,321 persons passed examination (98.5%)and among them 205 got the A score(62.9%);The field work was implemented strictly according to the procedure. Three automatic biochemical instruments were used in the measurement and there is no significant difference between means of serum TC,TG and HDL-C from several batches of quality control serum.Parallel measurements were conducted in five percent randomly selected samples,the ratio of bias less than 3% was 99.05%,96.40% and 98.30% for TC,TG and HLD-C, respectively.Compared with means of LSP control sera,the results showed that all bias was less than 5% except one bias of TG result(7.02%)in one batch of LSP controls.Conclusion The work of quality control in this survey guaranteed the accuracy of plasma lipids measurement,and provided the basic data for the epidemiological description of dyslipidemia status among Chinese and the further analysis.
5.Screening of Flocculant-Producing Bacteria and Application in Treatment of Azo Dye Wastewater

Objective To screen the flocculatnt-producing strain from activated sludge that can treat azo dyeing wastewater effectively.Methods Screening and rescreening were used to acquire the strain which possesses high efficiency of flocculatant production and the strain was identified.The character of microbial flocculant(MBF) and the ability to treat azo dye wastewater were studied.Results A strain of high-efficiency bioflocculant-producting bacteria(AJ-6),initially identified as Alcaligenes sp,was screened.The bioflocculant produced by the strain was able to flocculate kaolin suspension with 94.4% and fly ash suspension with 98.9% respectively.The flocculation activity distribution tests showed that the active components of the bioflocculant existed in the supernatant fluid after centrifugation.It had good treatment efficiency in treating azo dyes methyl orange wastewater.The maximal efficiencies of removing CODCr and chroma from the wastewater were 81.3% and 94.2%.Compared with the other flocculants,the performance of MBF was better than that of polyacrylamide(PAM),aluminum sulfate,ferrous sulfate.The MBF was more thermostable when treated with 100 ℃ for 30 min,and the animal toxicity test showed that the MBF had no acute toxicity to mice.Conclusion The bioflocculant produced by the strain AJ-6 is applicable to treat azo dyeing wastewater and can be also used for the other wastewater.
6.The expression and distribution of protein translation initiation factors C2 gene in hepatocellular carcinoma and gastric cancer tissue

Objective To study the expression, distribution and significance of C2 gene in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and gastric cancer tissue. Methods ABC immunohistochemical method was used to detect the expression of C2 protein in 60 samples of HCC tissue and 58 samples of gastric cancer tissue, and Western blot technique was used to detect the expression of C2 protein in 10 samples of HCC tissue and pericancerous tissue. Results 1. Expression of C2 protein in HCC tissue: in 60 samples of HCC and 42 samples of pericancerous tissue, the positivity rate of C2 protein was 27.3% and 83.3%, respectively. Objective To investigate the effect of rosiglitazone (ROS),a peroxisome poliferator- activated receptor (PPAR)?ligand,combined with all-trans retinoic acid (ATRA) on anti-angiogenesis of transplanted gastric cancer in nude mice,and to explore the mechanism of anti-angiogenesis prelimina- rily.Methods The model of xenograft tumor in nude mice were established by inoculating human gastric cancer cells line MGC803 (lower differentiated) into the back of nude mice subcutaneously.The cancer- bearing nude mice were divided randomly into 5 groups:group 1 (n=6) with no treatment;ROS treat- ment (group 2,n=6),ROS combined ATRA treatment including:low dose treatment (group 3,n= 6),moderate dose treatment (group 4,n=6) and high dose treatment (group 5,n=6).After treated for forty days,the volume change of tumor and tumor inhibition rates were observed.The expression of CD34,vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) in grafts were detected by immunohistochemical and calculated the difference of MVD.The mRNA expression levels of VEGF,HIF-l?were detected by RT- PCR assay accordingly.Results①The volume of tumor was significantly decreased in ROS treatment group compared with group 1 (P<0.01).The tumor inhibition rates of group 2 were similar to group 3 (P>0.05).With the increasing of the dose of ROS the tumor inhibition rates were increased.They were dose-dependent in specified dose-range.②ROS could inhibit angiogenesis of xenograft tumor and depress expression of mRNA of VEGF and HIF-l?.When ROS combined with ATRA,the increasing of dose of ROS,inhibiting angiogenesis of tumor and depressing expression of mRNA of VEGF and HIF-l?were found (P<0.05).Conclusion ROS (25 mg?kg?2 d~(-1)) can inhibit the growth of tumor,and ROS combined with ATRA can further inhibit the growth of tumor,which may be through the path of PTEN by inhibiting the angiogenesis of tumor
9.Expression of transforming growth factor-alpha and its receptor during the process of human liver cirrhosis

BACKGROUND: The expression and significance of transforming growth factor-alpha (TGF-α) and epidermal growth factor receptor (EGF-R) in different diseases are different.OBJ ECTTVE: To investigate the expression of TGF-α and EGF-R in human liver cirrhosis tissues.DESIGN : Non-randomized controlled trial.SETTING: Department of General Surgery, Tangdu Hospital, Fourth Military Medical University of Chinese PLA.MATERIALS: This trial was carried out in the Department of Pathology, Xijing Hospital, Fourth Military Medical University of Chinese PLA during March 2003 to May 2004. Sixty-three samples of human liver cirrhosis tissue were obtained from Department of General Surgery, Xijing Hospital, Fourth Military Medical University of Chinese PLA (Informed consents were obtained). Five human normal liver tissues were obtained form autopsy in Department of Pathology, Fourth Military Medical University of Chinese PLA (patients with liver diseases were excluded).METHODS: Sixty-three samples of human liver cirrhosis specimens and five human normal liver tissues were studied with immunohistochemical method and in situ hybridization technique. The positive rates of TGF-α and EGF-R were calculated and managed statistically.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURE: Detection of the expressions of TGF-α and EGF-R in liver cirrhosis tissues were detected with immunohistochemical method and in situ hybridization technique.RESULTS: The expression rate of TGF-α and EGF-R in 63 samples of human liver cirrhosis tissues was 84% (53/63)and 52% (33/63) respectively. These positive granules were brown and most of them were in cytoplasm of hepatocytes.There was significantly positive correlation between TGF-α and EGF-R (r =0.32,P < 0.05). In five normal liver tissues,TGF-α and EGF-R were not detectable in hepatocytes and bile ducts. In situ hybridization showed the levels of TGF-αmRNA and EGF-R mRNA were higher (86%, 54%) than those of immunohistochemistry. There was no significant difference between two detective methods (P>0.05).CONCLUSrON: Liver cirrhosis might be under the autocrine regulation of TGF-α/EGF-R. Increasing expression of TGF-αand EGF-R might be one of important factors in liver cirrhosis pathogenesis.
