Objective To explore protective effect of Heme oxygenase-1(HO-1) on irradiation-induced endothelial cell apoptosis. Methods Human endothelial cell line EA.hy926 were administered with or without HO-1 activator Copp and/or HO-1 inhibitor Znpp, respectively. Then, cells were treated with or without 8 Gy radiation. The HO-1 protein expression of cells were assessed with Western blotting and apoptosis of cells treated with irradiation were evaluated with flow cytometry. Moreover, cytochrome C releasing into cytosol were also determined by Western blotting. Results In PBS+R group,HO-1 protein expression of EA.hy926 was low posterior to irradiation. When cells were preconditioned with Copp and/or Znpp, then recieved with 8Gy irradiation, the HO-1 protein expression of EA.hy926 increased significantly in comparision with the PBS+R group(P

Objective To explore the influence of practical teaching in community in health education on the nurses' critical thinking ability in higher vocational school. Methods The contrast group was to fulfill practical teaching according to teaching plans. On weekends, the experimental group organizeed nurses to create wall newspapers about health education, carry out health education consultation, check residents' health responsibly and create family healthy files etc.The assessment of critical thinking ability was measured with Chinese Critical Thinking Disposition Inventory,CTDI-CV.Results There was a distinct difference about their critical thinking ability between the two groups(P < 0.01).5 items showed clear differences among 7 excepts the ability of analysis and desire for knowledge. Conclusions Pratical teaching in community in health education can improve nurses' ability of critical thinking effectively.[Key words ] Health education;Community; Practical teaching; Nurse of higher vocationalschool;Critical thinking ability

OBJECTIVETo explore the association between G614T single nuclear polymorphism (SNP) of the alpha-adducin gene and the antihypertensive effect of hydrochlorothiazide (HCTZ) in essential hypertensive (EH) patients.
METHODSEight hundred twenty nine EH patients were given 12.5 mg HCTZ/d for six weeks. Alpha-adducin gene G614T SNP in the tenth exon was determined by PCR-RFLP in 754 patients with complete records. All the patients were grouped according to TT, GT and GG genotypes.
RESULTSAfter 6 weeks of HCTZ treatment, the decreases in DBP and MAP of patients carrying 614T allele of alpha-adducin were significantly greater than that of those carrying GG homozygotes (P < 0.05). The decreases in SBP and MAP were significantly greater in patients with the TT genotype as compared with GT or GG genotype (P < 0.05). The effective rate of BP fall by HCTZ was higher in patients with TT genotype than those with GT or GG genotype (P < 0.05). Multivariate stepwise regression analysis showed that the TT genotype and the baseline SBP were the two major predictors affecting the decrease in SBP.
CONCLUSIONThe present study suggests that the alpha-adducin G614T polymorphism is associated with the antihypertensive effect of HCTZ, which is more effective in patients with TT genotype.

Objective To study the function of X -1 2 -ARIMA model in analysis on incidence trend of typhoid. Methods Secular trend, seasonal periodicity and random fluctuations of the monthly morbidity data in Zhejiang province from 2005 to 201 3 were analyzed by X -1 2 -ARIMA model. Results The seasonal fluctuation showed a narrowing trend year by year during 2005 to 201 3.After September,2007,the incidence of typhoid showed a downward trend. After 2008,the annual peak of incidence changed from August to July. The irregular factor may well represent the outbreak. Conclusion The X -1 2 -ARIMA model showed clear secular trend and seasonal periodicity, and the random fluctuation was of great value.

OBJECTIVEPulmonary hypertension is a proliferative vascular disease characterized by pulmonary vascular structural remodeling. Until now, the pathogenesis of pulmonary hypertension is still not fully understood. Although considerable progress has been made, there is, to date, no cure for advanced pulmonary vascular disease. Recently, a number of studies suggest that endogenous vascular elastase (EVE) play a role in the vascular changes associated with pulmonary hypertension. The purpose of the study was to determine whether an elastase inhibitor might reverse advanced pulmonary vascular disease produced in rats by injection of monocrotaline.
METHODSOne hundred and twenty male Sprague-Dawley rats were used in this study. The rats were divided into three groups: control, model and ZD-0892 groups. In the model and ZD-0892 groups, the rats were subjected to a single subcutaneous injection of monocrotaline (60 mg/kg) in the hind flank, while the rats in control group received an equivalent volume of 0.9% saline. From day 21, the rats in the ZD-0892 and model groups received twice-daily gavage tube feedings of either ZD-0892 at a dose of 240 mg/kg per day or its administration vehicle, while the rats in control group were subjected to an equivalent volume of 0.9% saline. On days 21, 28 and 35 post-injection, the elastolytic activity was measured with a fluorescence microplate reader and pulmonary artery pressure was detected via catheterization. Meanwhile, the lungs were evaluated morphologically, using the barium-gelatin perfusion technique.
RESULTSThe injection of monocrotaline led to severe pulmonary hypertension in rats 21 days later and pulmonary artery elastolytic activity increased remarkably. A 1-week treatment with ZD-0892 resulted in declines in elastase activity. This was associated with significant declines in pulmonary artery pressure, decreases in muscularization of peripheral arteries and reductions in medial hypertrophy. After 2 weeks, elastase activity returned to normal level. Pulmonary artery pressure and structure were normalized.
CONCLUSIONIncreased elastase activity is important in the development of vascular changes and progressive pulmonary hypertension. ZD-0892 can suppress the elastase activity and completely reverse the fatal pulmonary hypertension induced by monocrotaline in rats.

Biomedical and Environmental Sciences 2007;20(5):351-356
OBJECTIVETo explore the association between polymorphism in the ACE I/D gene and blood pressure-lowering response to hydrochlorothiazide (HCTZ) in 829 patients.
METHODSHCTZ 12.5 mg was taken once a day for six weeks. The blood pressure reduction and ratio reaching target blood pressure were compared in different ACE genotype groups.
RESULTSThe reduction in SBP of patients carrying DD was greater than that in other groups carrying II or ID (12.2 mmHg versus 5.4 mmHg, 12.2 mmHg versus 4.4 mmHg, respectively, P<0.05). The reduction in MAP of patients carrying DD was also greater than that in other groups carrying II or ID (6.9 mmHg versus 3.9 mmHg, 6.9 mmHg versus 3.6 mmHg, respectively, P<0.05). The ratio reaching target blood pressure in DD groups was significantly higher than that in II or ID groups (P<0.05). The pre-treatment SBP, DD genotype, aldosterone levels entered the multi-linear regression model significantly and might affect the reduction of SBP. The pre-treatment DBP, aldosterone levels, DD genotype entered the multi-linear regression model significantly and might affect the reduction of DBP. The pre-treatment MAP, DD genotype, aldosterone levels entered the multi-linear regression model significantly and might affect the reduction of MAP.
CONCLUSIONACE genotyping is associated with blood pressure-lowering response to HCTZ. Specific genotypes might be associated with the response to specific antihypertensive treatment.
