It is a hospital's sacred duty to heal the wounded, rescue the dying and implement humanitarian- ism. The key to the winning of a medical lawsuit by our hospital lay in the fact that it earnestly put into effect the idea of centering on the interests of the patients. The participation of legal advisors in goad time, the objective coverage by the news media, and modem means of management, which guaranteed the authenticity and reliability of the medical documents, all played a role that could not be underestimated in the handling of the medical lawsuit. Objective To investigate the clinical and molecular epidemiology characteristics of calicivirus and adenovirus in children for viral diarrhea in Lanzhou. Methods Stool samples were collected from 295 children with diarrhea at the First Hospital of Lanzhou University,Gansu Province,China, between July 2010 and June 2011.Reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) or PCR were used to detected calicivirus and adenovirus. The adenovirus positive samples were typed by nested PCR and multiple PCR.Results Of the 295 specimens,13.2% ( 39/295 ) were positive for calicivirus, and 5.1% ( 15/295 ) were adenovirus.Typing and Phylogenetic analysis revealed that novirus GⅡ-3 and adenovirus 41 were the dominant strains. Both calicivirus and adenovirus predominately affect children under the age of 2.In seasonal distribution, there was no obvious peak. Conclusion Human calicivirus and adenovirus are important pathogens of viral diarrhea,it is important to develop long-term systematic surveillance.

Objective To isolate Japanese encephalitis virus (JEV) from mosquitoes collected in Tanghe county, Henan province and analyze the genotype of the newly isolated JEV strains and the characteristics of amino acid in the E gone. Methods Viruses were isolated from mosquitoes collected in 2004 and identified by biological, serological and molecular biological methods. PrM and E segments of the newly isolated JEV were amplified by RT-PCR, the PCR products were purified and sequenced. Multiple alignment, phylogenetic and amino acid (AA) analysis were carried out by Clustal X (1.8) program, MEGA 3.1 and GENEDOS (3.2).Results Totally 3722 mosquitoes were collected including Culex, Armigeres, Aedes, Anopheline. Three new JEV strains isolated from Cutex belonged to genotype 1. The homologue of nucleotide and amino acid of E gene between new JEV strains and live attenuated vaccine strain SA14-14-2 was 86.9%-87.7% and 95.2%-97.0%,respectively. Totally there were 12 common sites of amino acid differences in E gene between them. Conclusion Newly isolated viruses in Henan province belonged to JEV genotype 1. It suggests that the vaccine strain SA14-14-2 currently used for preventing JE is able to protect people from JEV infection, although there are some amino acid differences between them.
