Objective To evaluate the changes of soft tissue and hard tissue in the correction of Class II division 1 malocclusion by functional appliance, and to investigate the correlation between these changes and the mechanism underlying the soft tissue profile changes. Methods A total of 32 cases of developing class II division 1 malocclusion were selected. They were in the spurt or pre-spurt phase of growth and development and treated with functional appliance, the molar relationship was corrected to either Class I or overcorrected Class I occlusal relationship. Soft tissue and hard tissue variables on the cephalograms were selected and analyzed. Firstly, paired t-tests were performed to compare the changes between before and after-treatment. Secondly, those variables that had statistically significant differences were selected and analyzed with the Pearson coefficient of correlation (r) between soft tissue and hard tissue changes. Results All variables had statistically significant differences between before and after treatment except for soft tissue facial angle and basic upper lip thickness, mandible plane angle and position of basic upper bone; Correlations between soft tissue and hard tissue changes were as follows: height of lower lip to Me' and S-Go (r=0.54); soft tissue chin thick and N-ANS (r=0.55); height of upper lip and ii/OLp (r=0.52); inferior sulcus to H-line and ii/OLp (r=0.60), pg/OLp, saggital relationship between upper-and lower-jaw (ss/OLp-pg/OLp) (r=0.47). Conclusion The changes of soft tissues profile results from the change of lower incisors' position, mandible' moving forward and its subsequent changes of facial heights and saggital relationship between upper-and lower-jaws.

Objective To elucidate the characteristics of the apoptosis of ovarian cell in DahlS hypertensive rats .Methods Sixty DahlS hytertensive femal rats(5 weeks old) were devided into 3 experimental groups and 3 control groups randomly, then the rats fed with 8% salt and normal forage respectively.Materials were gathered at 11,13,15 weeks old sacrifice. The apoptosis characteristics of granulosa cell and corpus luteum cell were studied by light, electron microscopy in situ end labelling techriqe, flowcytometry, etc. Results As hypertensive coures prolongation resut in the following conditions:⑴By light microscope, granulosa cell(GC) of developing follicles arranged inorderly and loosing ,the number of follicle atresia increased and corpus luteum decreased.⑵In TUNEL staining, apoptosis was mainly observed in granulosa cell of developing follicles, and it could not observed in corpus luteum cells. ⑶By electron microscope, the apoptosis of granulosa cell and corpus luteum cell assume typical characteristics as cytoplasm,a little nucleous, abnormal cytoblast, chromatin condensed and edged, appeared concetraction band, etc. It could also be observed that mitochondrion ridge had dearranged, the nmuber of smooth endoplasmic reticular(SER) decreased, and the change of lipid's lamellae was serious.⑷Flow cytometry assay showed the apoptosis rate of ovarian cell increased gradually, experimental groups of 13,15 weeks old(6 42?1 06)%,(6 67?2 11)% increased significantly as compared with controls(1 26?0 57)%,(1 46?0 73)%(t=3 027,3 085,P

Objective To investigate the role of sICAM-1 and TNF in the acute rejection of renal graft. Methods Serum sICAM-1 and TNF were sequentially determined in 41 patients with renal graft by ELISA and L_(929) target cell methods. Results The change of serum sICAM-1 was same as TNF, there was no significant difference in serum sICAM-1 and TNF among healthy controls, uremic patients, CsA toxioosis and stable transplantation. During acute rejection(AR) and infection episode, both serum sICAM-1 and TNF were obviously elevated. While the serum creatinine had no significant changes during infection, the serum sICAM-1 and TNF were elevated as early as 1~3 days before the rise of serum creatinine. Conclusion The serial assay of serum sICAM-1 and TNF would be helpful in the early diagnosis and differential diagnosis of AR.

ObjectiveTo analyze the relative influential factors of hearing rehabilitation of the deafened children with multichannel cochlear implant. Methods42 prelingually deafened children who accepted multichannel cochlear implant were evaluated with their hearing ability, hearing thresholds and talent level, while their family and usage of the multichannel cochlear were investigated. Results and ConclusionThe result shows that the factors influencing the hearing rehabilitation are the occupations of the parents, income of the family, the time between diagnosing deaf and the operation, the time after the cochlear implant operation and the talent level. The results of the logistic regression show that the deafened children can gain their hearing developing rapidly if they living in a family with high income, their mothers have accepted more education, and they accepted longer time of continuing hearing-aid, etc.

Objective To investigate the effects of low dose of extracellular histone on endothelial cells in infectious diseases such as sepsis. Methods The endothelial cells were treated with 10 μg/mL recombinant human histone H3/H4 complex in replacement of calf thymus histones (CTH) for various periods of time, and the morphology changes and the viability of the endothelial cells were recorded. In addition, flow cytometry was applied to identify the characteristics of endothelial cells and enzyme-linked immunosorbnent assay (ELISA) was used to detect the extracellular histones level in endothelial cells culture. Results The low dose of CTH could continuously induce endothelial cells death, cell morphological changes and function loss, which was reproduced by 10 μg/mL recombinant histone H3/H4 complex. Results of histones quantitation showed that histone can cause a series of intracellular reactions in a short period of time. Conclusions It is showed that 10 μg/mL H3/H4 can induce the toxicity in infectious disease and this level of the dose is a lower than those used in previous studies and more close to the pathological conditions.

Objective To optimize the method and condition s for the extraction process of Fushuning Granules. Methods Different factors and levels were in vestigated by orthogonal design wit h yields of oleanolic acid and tanshi noneⅡ A as the markers. The yields of effective com ponents by percolation and reflux we re compared. Results The extraction ratio by re-flux was higher than that by percolation. The primary factors influencin g extraction ratio by reflux were the pulverization degree of medicinal materials, concentration of alcohol, refluxing times and refluxing perio d.Conclusion The opti-mum extraction process was:refluxing and extracting the pulverized med icinal materials for 3times(1hours each time )with 6-fold 90%alcohol added in the f irst time and then 5-fold in the secon d and the third time.

Objective To study the effects of self-management education on quality of life in children with asthma. Methods Seventy-five out-patients and in-patients with asthma were randomlydivided into 2 groups. The educational group(38 cases)received the basic knowledge education of asthma and self-management,while the control group received only the basic knowledge education of asthma.A inquiry was conducted in all patients using a Chinese PAQLQ(pediatric asthma quality of life questionnaire)before and 6 months after the treatment. The correlation and difference between 2 groups were analyzed. Results There were no significant difference before the therapy. After 6 months's treatment, there were uptrends on scorecard in some fields in such as symptom, activity, emotion and the total score in all patients(P
