5.Progresses of Proton Therapy for carcinomas
Chinese Medical Equipment Journal 2004;0(07):-
As a new radiotherapy for carcinomas, Proton Therapy has been making progresses. Compared with conventional radiation, proton has a better physical characteristic and a similar biological effect. Proton Therapy consists of Conformal Proton Radiotherapy, Intensity-Modulated Proton Therapy, Stereotactic Radiotherapy, Proton Scanning Radiation and et al. With the utilization of Bragg peak, Proton therapy can increase the dose of carcinoma region and reduce the dose of normal tissue, and thus it has a good curative effect and can be a good cure for many indications. In spite of the above-mentioned, Proton therapy has to be improved in the future.

Chinese Journal of Microsurgery 2000;0(03):-
Objective This study is to explore the infratentoriat-supracerebellar keyhole approach for microsurgical treatment of pineal region tumors and to evaluate its curative efficacy and safety. Methods According to hi-fi quality MRI images, individual operation schemes were designed.Microsurgical infratentori- al-supracerebellar keyhole approach was used to resect lesions in 7 consecutive patients with prone postition.A 2.0 cm?2.5 cm surgical bone window was performed with its superior margin reaching to the inferior margin of the transverse sinus and confluence sinus. Results Among the 7 pineal region tumors, there were 2 ger- minomas,2 pineocytomas,1 pineoblastoma,1 glioma and 1 chlesteatoma. All cases were re-examined with MRI after operation and it was found that 6 lesions were totally removed and 1 was subtotally removed. The outcome of the treatment was satisfying. There was no infection, bleeding or death after surgery. The follow-up result in the near future was good. Conclusion The infratentorial-supracerebellar keyhole approach for the excision of pineal region tumors was proved to be a satisfactory means with a total removal rate,an excellent curative effect and small surgical trauma.
7. Correlation analysis of carotid artery color Doppler flow imaging indices and transcranial Doppler ultrasound indices
Academic Journal of Second Military Medical University 2010;31(6):634-637
Objective: To analyze the correlation of carotid artery color Doppler flow imaging (CDFI) indices and transcranial Doppler ultrasound (TCD) indices. Methods: The clinical data of 118 hospitalized patients with ischemic cerebrovascular diseases were included in the present study and all of them received CDFI and TCD examination. The patients were divided into two groups according to presence of carotid plaque group; t-test was used to identify the correlation between the presence of carotid plaque and TCD indices. Meanwhile, the patients were also divided into three groups according to the quantity/distribution of plaque) one-way ANOVA(F-test) and student-Newman-Keuls were used to identify the correlation of the quantity/distribution of plaque with TCD indices. The patients with carotid plaque were divided into three groups according to the plaque texture) one-way ANOVA(F-test) and student-Newman-Keuls were used to identify the correlation of the quality of plaque with TCD indices. Meanwhile, linear correlation was used to identify the correlation of the common carotid intimal-medial thickness (CCA IMT) with TCD indices. Results: The resistance index (RI), pulsatile index (PI) and ratio of peak systolic to least diastolic flow velocity (S/D) of bilateral middle cerebral arteries and basal artery in patients with carotid plaque were significantly higher than those in patients without carotid plaque (P<0.05); other TCD indices including Vp, Vd, and Vm were not significantly different. The quantity/distribution of plaque, the quality of plaque and CCA IMT were not correlated with TCD indices. Conclusion: No CDFI indices, except for the presence of carotid plaque, are correlated with TCD indices. Combined application of CDFI and TCD indices can better reflect the structure and hemodynamic status of cerebral vessels.

OBJECTIVETo explore optimal choice of surgical treatment for subtrochanteric fractures in older children.
METHODSA retrospective study of 36 older children with subtrochanteric fractures was performed between January 2010 and January 2012. Among them, 18 patients (11 males and 7 females) aged from 7 to 13 years old with an average of 9.4 were treated with titanic elastic nail (TEN) fixation, 4 cases were Type II A, 3 cases were II B, 2 cases were II C, 4 cases were III A, 3 cases were III B according to Seinsheimer classification. Eighteen patients (10 males and 8 females) aged was from 8 to 13 years with an average of 9.6 were treated with locking compression pine (LCP) fixation, and 3 cases were Type II A, 4 cases were II B, 3 cases were II C, 4 cases were IIIA, 2 cases were III B. Fracture healing time, postoperative complications (including wound infection, failure and breakage of internal fixtion, deformities of angular on the sagittal view, deformities of coxa vara) and recovery of hip joint function were observed and recorded.
RESULTSAll children were followed up from 15 to 36 months with an average of 21. Fracture were all healed, the time ranged from 7 to 16 weeks (mean 9.5). Three cases in TEN group occurred mild deformities of angular on the sagittal view, 3 cases occurred deformities of coxa vara and 2 cases occurred limb shortening; while 1 case occurred mild deformities of angular on the sagittal view, and no deformities of coxa vara and limb shortening occurred in LCP group. No early close of epiphyseal injury, avascular necrosis of femoral head occurred. Clinical efficacy were evaluated by Sanders standard, 14 cases got excellent results, 3 cases were moderate in LCP group, while 9 cases in excellent, 4 in moderate in TEN group. There were no significant differences between two group in recovery of hip joint function and complications.
CONCLUSIONFor the treatment of subtrochanteric fractures in older children, the efficacy of LCP fixation is better than that of TFN fixation, which has advantages of reliable fixation, and less complications.
