Objective:To investigate effects of hydrogen sulfide (H2S) on inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) in kidneys of Type 1 diabetic rats.Methods:Thirty-two male SD rats were randomly divided into four groups:A normal control (NC) group,a diabetes mellitus (DM) group,a NaHS (NaHS+DM) group, and a NaHS control (NaHS) group (n=8 per group).Type 1 diabetes was induced by a single intraperitoneal injection of streptozotocin (55 mg/kg).After successful establishment of models, the rats in NaHS+DM and NaHS groups were injected with NaHS solution (56 μmol/kg) intraperitoneally.Eight weeks later, the activities of total nitric oxide synthase (T-NOS) and iNOS,as well as the level of nitric oxide (NO) were detected in serum and renal tissues, respectively,The activity of glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px) was determined in renal tissues,The ultrastructures of renal tissues were observed by transmission electron microscope,The protein expression ofiNOS in renal tissues was detected by Western blot. Results:Compared with the NC group, there was no significant difference in the various indexes in the NaHS group (P>0.05).However,in the DM group, the activities of T-NOS and iNOS,and the level of NO were all increased significantly in serum and renal tissues, while the activity of GSH-Px was decreased in renal tissues.Under the electronic microscope, the thickening of the glomerular capillary basement membrane, the proliferation of mesangial matrix, and the foot fusion were observed. The protein expression ofiNOS was increased obviously in renal tissues in the DM group (P<0.01).Compared with the DM group, the activities of T-NOS and iNOS and the level of NO were all decreased in serum and renal tissues, while the activity of GSH-Px was increased in renal tissues in the NaHS+DM group (P<0.01).The renal ultrastructural damages were ameliorated obviously. The protein expression ofiNOS was decreased significantly (P<0.01).Conclusion:H2S exerts a protective effect on kidney injury in type 1 diabetic rats. The mechanism might be related to inhibition of iNOS activity and protein expression,in turn leading to reduction of NO content in renal tissues.

Objective To investigate the correlation of anthropometric parameters with alanine aminotransferase (ALT) in Qinhuangdao college students. Methods A total of 789 subjects from two colleges in Qinhuangdao City (369 men and 420 women) were recruited using a cluster-stratified sampling method.Anthropometric measurements included height, body weight, waist circumference, hip circumference, blood pressure.and ALT.Body mass index, waist to height ratio, and waist to hip ratio were calculated. Results Elevated ALT was found in 16.3% of male participants and 4.0% of females(P<0.05).For males, those with elevated ALT showed significantly higher levels of anthropometric parameters (P<0.05).In females, the levels of anthropometric parameters were similar between subjects with or without elevated ALT(P>0.05).Receiver operating characteristie curve analysis also showed that obesity indices predicted elevated ALT only in men [area under the curve:0.8-0.9(P<0.05) in men,0.5-0.6(P>0.05) in wonlen].Blood pressure did not predict elevated ALT in both men and women (area under the curve:0.5-0.7).Conclusion Dender difference of obesity indices could be found in Qinhuangdao college students.Obesity indices may be independent predictors of elevated ALT in men. However, blood pressure seems not to be an independent predictor of elevated ALT.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the effects of hydrogen sulfide (H₂S) on oxidative stress and endoplasmic reticulum stress (ERS) in a rat model of diabetic cardiomyopathy (DCM).
METHODSThirty male SD rats were randomly divided into control group, diabetes group and treatment group( n = 10). Intraperitoneal injection of streptozotocin was utilized to establish a rat model of DCM. The rats with DCM in treatment group were intraperitoneally injected with NaHS solution. After treated for 12 weeks, the hearts isolated from rats were perfused on a langendorff apparatus. The ventricular hemodynamic parameters were measured. The ultrastructures of myocardium were observed using electron microscopy. The content of malondialdehyde (MDA), the activities of superoxide dismutase (SOD) and glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px) in myocardial tissue were determined by spectrophotometry. The expressions of C/EBP homologous protein( CHOP), glucose-regulated protein 78 (GRP78) and Caspase 12 at mRNA level in myocardium were detected using RT-PCR.
RESULTSCompared with control group, the cardiac function and myocardial ultrastructure were damaged obviously in diabetic rats. In myocardial tissue, the content of MDA was increased, while the activities of SOD and GSH-Px were decreased. CHOP, GRP78 and Caspase 12 mRNA expressions were increased significantly. Compared with diabetes group, cardiac function and myocardial ultrastructure damage were improved in treatment group. The content of MDA was decreased, while the activities of SOD and GSH-Px were increased significantly. The mRNA levels of CHOP, GRP78 and Caspase 12 were increased.
CONCLUSIONH2S can protect myocardium in diabetic rats, maybe it is related to reduce oxidative stress damage and inhibition of the ERS-induced apoptosis pathway.

Forty-eight men with normal glucose tolerance were divided into fatty liver disease ( NAFLD, n =23 ) and non-NAFLD (n =25 ) groups. The blood glucose excursion was evaluated by continuous glucose monitoring system. The results showed that the mean amplitude of glucose excursion[MAGE, (2. 17± 1.13 vs 1.45±0. 42 )mmol/L]and standard deviation of blood glucose[SDBG, (0. 88 ±0. 45 vs 0. 61 ±0. 21 ) mmol/L]were significantly higher in NAFLD group than in non-NAFLD group( both P<0. 05 ). MAGE and SDBG were positively correlated with body mass index, waist circumference, and the increased value of plasma glucose 0. 5 h after glucose loading( △G30,all P<0. 05 ). In multiple regression analysis, △G30, waist circumference, and age were significant independent predictors for MAGE( P<0. 05 or P<0. 01 ). △G30 and waist circumference were significant independent predictors for SDBG( P<0. 05 or P<0. 01 ).

Abstract: Objective To find out the existing problems and provide reference for further improving the quality of report information by analyzing the report cards of COVID-19 and the positive report cards of primary screening reported in Ningxia. Methods All COVID-19 case cards from 2020 to 2021 and initial screening positive cards were derived from the Chinese Information System for Disease Control and Prevention according to final review date. The timeliness of case reporting, timeliness of case review, completeness and accuracy of the case cards were analyzed. Results In Ningxia, the first case of COVID-19 was reported on January 20, 2020, and as of December 31, 2021, 122 confirmed cases and 4 symptomatic infected cases were reported. In 2021, the timely reporting rate of COVID-19 was 98.00%, which increased by 8.24% compared with 2020 (90.54%). Compared with 2020, the average time limit for diagnosis to reporting of COVID-19 in 2021 was shortened by 83.12%; in 2021, the timely review rate of COVID-19 was 100.00%, which increased by 13.84% compared with 2020 (87.84%). Compared with 2020, the time from reporting to final review was shortened by 98.91%. In 2021, the timely rate of positive reports in COVID-19 in Ningxia was 90.00%, among which the timely rate of reports by county (district) nucleic acid detection institutions was the highest (92.31%), followed by municipal (91.67%) and autonomous region (81.82%). Conclusions At the beginning of the epidemic in 2020, the timeliness of COVID-19 in Ningxia was poor, and through the implementation of measures such as technical training, supervision and inspection to continuously optimize the staffing of medical institutions and disease control institutions, the timeliness of reporting COVID-19 in Ningxia in 2021 was substantially improved, but there were still some weak links. In the future work, technical guidance and training should be carried out for weak links, and efforts should be made to improve the quality of reports.
