China Pharmacy 1991;0(03):-
OBJECTIVE:To observe the curative effect of Zhenggu qutong tincture on acute soft tissue injury. METHODS:140 cases of acute soft tissue injury were treated with Zhenggu qutong tincture (treatment group) and Xiaoshangtong linimentum (control group) for 6 times each day (interval of 2 h) with cure course of seven days. The total effective rate and obvious effective rate were observed while the improvement of symptoms such as pain, tenderness, swelling, dysfunction and ecchymosis were also determined. RESULTS: The total effective rates were 94.29% for treatment group and 77.14% for control group while obvious effective rates were 74.28% and 37.14% respectively with significant difference (P

In order to explore a dose distribution verification procedure of intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) for nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) and establish its evaluation criteria, we performed 35 two-dimensional (2D) patient-specific IMRT verifications over the year 2006. The percent of pixels passing gamma and the normalized agreement test (NAT) index were mainly used to represent the agreement between the measured and computed dose distributions with three criteria (2%/2 mm, 3%/3 mm and 5%/3 mm) as recommended in the literature. The results were that all cases passed through verifications with three criteria except that the NAT index of one case was beyond the limitation, and the three tolerance levels of 2%/2 mm, 3%/3 mm and 5%/3 mm produced similar clinical verification results but led to different percent of pixels passing gamma and NAT index. Our data showed that the percent of pixels passing gamma and the NAT index were complementary to evaluate future IMRT verifications as two significant metrics. Due to the influence of the noise and the trait of the software, we considered an IMRT plan as acceptable in case of the percent of pixels passing gamma >95% and the NAT index <5 with the 5%/3 mm criteria for IMRT patient-specific quality assurance (QA).

Objective To detect the expression of vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF)-C and VEGF-D in normal gastric tissue and gastric carcinoma tissue, and further investigate the relationship between VEGF-C,VEGF-D and lymph vessel density (LVD),lymph node metastasis. Methods The expression of VEGF-C and VEGF-D in gastric carcinoma tissues were examined by using SP immunohistochemical method in 30 normal gastric tissue and 75 gastric carcinoma tissue respectively. The lymph vessel were marked by LYVE-1 and calculated LVD.Results The rate of positive expression of VEGF-C and VEGF-D in gastric carcinoma tissue was significantly higher than that in normal gastric tissue, there was significant difference [73.3 % (55/75) vs.33.3 % (10/30),66.7 % (50/75) vs.30.0 % (9/30),P <0.01].The level of LVD in gastric carcinoma tissue with lymph node metastasis (40 cases) was significantly higher than that in without lymph node metastasis (35 cases)[(8.85 ± 1.24)/HP vs.(4.75 ± 1.04)/HP](P =0.000).The level of LVD increased when the expression level of VEGF-C and VEGF-D gradually went up.Conclusions The level of LVD increases in gastric carcinoma tissue.VEGF-C and VEGF-D are two significant factors for LVD and lymph node metastasis.

Objective To observe the effect of integrative Chinese and western medicine fast-track rehabilitation in surgery (FTS) for patients during peri-operation period of gynecological laparoscopy. Methods A total of 226 patients receiving gynecological laparoscopic surgery were randomized into observation group and control group, 113 cases in each group. The observation group received integrative Chinese and western FTS treatment, and the control group received routine non-surgery treatment. After operation, time for the first post-operation anal gas evacuation, time for out-of-bed activity, hospitalization time, and incidence of post-operation complications were compared between the two groups. Results In the observation group, time for the first post-operation anal gas evacuation and time for out-of-bed activity were earlier, and hospitalization time was shorter than those in the control group (P<0.05). The incidence of post-operation complications was 0.9%, lower than 4.4% in the control group ( P<0.05). Conclusion Integrative Chinese and western medicine fast-track rehabilitation in surgery shows certain effect on promoting enterokinesia, shortening time for the anal gas evacuation, reducing post-operation complica-tions, promoting post-operation recovery of gastrointestinal function of patients receiving gynecological la-paroscopy .

Chinese Pharmacological Bulletin 1987;0(03):-
Valproate (VPA) has long been used for the treatment of bipolar mood disorder. VPA is effective in control of mania and depression. Recent studies have demonstrated that VPA has profound neuroprotective effects in against various apoptotic stimuli. Moreover, VPA can promote neurogenesis, neuronal proliferation and differentiation. Although intensive research has been dedicated to VPA′s neuroprotection, the molecular mechanisms by which VPA protects neurons are still not fully understood. In this paper, recent progresses in the study of VPA′s neuroprotection and underlying mechanism are reviewed.

ACEI,ACEII and Xyr1 are transcriptional factors that regulate cellulase gene expression in Trichoderma koningii. In vitro experiments have shown that ACEI and Xyr1 bind to the cbh1 promoter fragment(-304 to-18) and regulate the gene transcription. However, whether ACEII binds to this 287bp fragment is still unclear. To further elucidate the regulatory mechanism of ACEII for cellulase,DNA-binding domains of ACEII from T.Koningii were expressed in E.coli.It could not show binding to the cbh1 promoter fragment(-304 to-18) by electrophoresis mobility shift assays, suggesting that it is Xyr1 but not ACEII binds playing an essential role during induction of cbh1 gene transcription.

ObjectiveTo evaluate the impacts of pereutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL) on perioperative renal hemodynamics.MethodsThe hemodynamics of operated renal arteries of 30 patients who underwent unilateral PCNL with single pole access were observed 1 day before and 5-7 days after operation with CDFI.Parameters were analyzed statistically.ResultsAfter operation, resistance index (RI) of renal arteries decreased (P<0.05).The diastolic flow statistically increased at main renal artery (MRA) of renal hilus, interlobar renal artery and interlobular renal artery (all P<0.05).After PCNL,in serious hydronephrosis patients,RI decreased (P<0.05) at segmental renal artery (SRA) and interlobar artery,end-diastolic flow velocity (Vmin) increased at interlobar renal artery (P<0.05).In moderate hydronephrosis patients,RI decreased at all renal arteries (P<0.05) after PCNL,Vmin increased at MRA and interlobular renal artery (P<0.05).In minor hydronephrosis patients,RI decreased at MRA and SRA,Vmin increased at SRA.In patients without hydronephrosis,RI changeed like serious hydronephrosis patients.ConclusionAfter PCNL,ipsilateral renal perfusion improves, renal diastolic flow increases and RI decreases.CDFI can be used to observe the blood perfusion of kidney, and provide quantitative information of renal hemodynamics.

Objective To observe the antioxidant activities of whey protein peptides (WPP) in aged mice.Method The subacute aged model mice were made by neck back subcutaneous injection of D-galactose every day.Compared with VE as positive control, the mice were given three different doses of WPP,100,200,400 mg/(kg bw?d) respectively, the effect of WPP on the content of catalase (CAT),malondialdehyde (MDA),superoxide dismutase (SOD),glutathione peroxidase (GSH-PX)in serum, liver and brain were observed after 45 d.Results The CAT,SOD and GSH-PX activities in aged model group were significantly decreased, but MDA was significantly increased as compared to normal mice. While in the aged mice treated with WPP 200 and 400 mg/(kg bw?d),the activity of CAT,SOD and GSH-PX were significantly increased and the content of MDA significantly decreased as compared to aged mice. Conclusion WPP shows dose-dependant antioxidant effect in aged mice.
