1.Efficacy of phacoemulsification auxiliary hookinterred the anterior chamber treated failure of glaucoma combined with cataract surgery

AIM: To explorethe therapeutic efficacy of treating cataract phacoemulsification remove combined with trabeculectomy early postoperative failure with open sclera flap recanalization by phacoemulsification auxiliary hook interred the anterior chamber.
METHODS:Twenty-seven cases ( 27 eyes ) of glaucoma combined cataract surgery(3mo) in the early failure were treated with that the phacoemulsification auxiliary hook into anterior chamber under the original sclera flap, open from the inside have adhesion of the sclera flap. Postoperative follow-up 12mo, the intraocular pressure and best corrected visual acuity were observed.
RESULTS: The postoperative follow- up was 12mo. There were functional filtering bleb in 14(52%) eyes; and the IOP was below 21mmHg in 17 eyes(63%) without any anti- glaucoma drug, and in 7 eyes ( 26%) with 1 - 2 categories of lower intraocular pressure( IOP) drugs, and 3 eyes(11%), failure and the success rate was 89% after 12mo. Average intraocular pressure after 1wk, 1mo, 3mo, 6mo and 12mo were(7. 1±4. 3) mmHg,(10. 5±5. 1) mmHg,(15. 1±4. 8 ) mmHg, ( 16. 8±5. 2 ) mmHg, ( 17. 3±5.1 ) mmHg, significantly lower than the IOP preoperatively(30. 2±6. 8) mmHg (P<0. 01). Average visual acuity ( all of the following were best corrected vision) after 1wk, 1mo, 3mo, 6mo and 12mo was(0. 32±0. 52),(0. 52±0. 42),(0. 55±0. 39),(0. 53±0. 47),(0. 54±0. 42 ). Postoperative 1wk visual acuity deeper than preoperative( 0. 46 ± 0. 44 ) ( P < 0. 05 ), more than all improved compared with preoperative ( P < 0. 05 ). Postoperative anterior chamber bleeding in 5(19%) eyes, all absorbed itself in 3 to 5 days; ciliochoroidal detachment in 7 ( 26%) eyes, except one case need operate, others were conservative treatment to heal. Postoperative continuous low intraocular pressure concurrent macular edema was 1 eyes(4%), 4mo healed after treatment.
CONCLUSION: It is a safe and effective method thattreating phacoemulsification cataract remove combined with trabeculectomy early postoperative failure with open sclera flap recanalization by phacoemulsification auxiliary hook interred the anterior chamber.
3.Splenic metastasis of B16 melanoma cells occurred through the blood in C57BL/6 mice

Objective To investigate whether the splenic metastasis of B16 melanoma cells in C57BL/6 mice occur through the blood.Methods Cultured B16 melanoma cells were collected,adjusted into 1?10~7/ml and inoculated into the left armpit of C57BL/6 mice,200 ?l each.After 15 days,the mice were sac- rificed and metastasis was examined in various tissues and organs by HE stain.1.5 % Evan Blue(EB),2 ml/kg, was administered to normal C57BL/6 mice through the tail vein,and the region stained blue was compared with that of metastasis.Results All of 12 mice inoculated were burdened with melanoma.Splenic metastasis occurred in 9 of them,among which 3 were accompanied by lung metastasis,and all of 9 mice showed differ- ent degree of local lymph node metastasis.The dorsal 1/4 part of the positive spleen was stained black by the metastatic tumor cells.Under the microscope,distribution of the metastatic tumor cells in the spleen was scat- tered,their growth inhibited,and maturation accelerated.The region stained blue by EB also located at the dorsal 1/4 part of the spleen,which was almost the same as the positive part of metastasis.Conclusions Metastasis of B16 melanoma cells in C57BL/6 miee occurs earlier in the spleen than in other organs,and this metastasis is achieved most possibly through the blood.
4.Effect of cyclooxygenase-2 on bone loss in ovariectomized rats

Objective To investigate mechanism of cyclooxygenase-2 ( COX-2) in bone loss in a postmenopausal osteoporosis (PMOP) rat mode with ovarietomy (OVX).Methods Forty female Sprague Dawley adult rats at age of 3 months were randomly divided into 4 groups,10 in each group,including shamoperated (sham) group,OVX group,OVX treated with nilesteriol (OVX + E) group and OVX treated with aspirin ( OVX + P) group.All rats in OVX,OVX + E and OVX + P groups underwent ovarietomy under abdominal anesthesia with 10% chloral hydrate.Rats in sham group were only taken with fat tissue with same weight under bilateral ovary.After surgery,penicillin was administered to prevent infection.At day 7 after surgery,agents were given by intragastric administration for 12 weeks.Nilestriol at 1.0 mg/kg was used in OVX + E group once a week,aspirin at 45 mg · kg - 1 · d- 1 was used in OVX + P group once a day.Saline with same volume was used in rats in sham and OVX groups.All agents were administered one time per day.Dose of agents were adjusted by weight per week.At end of study,bone mineral density (BMD) of right femurs and lumbar vertebrae 3 -5 (L3-5) were measured.Morphology of bone was detected by hematoxylineosin,and expression of COX-2 was determined by immunohistochemistry staining.Results ( 1 ) BMD:BMD of right femur and L3-5 was (0.209 ±0.010) g/cm2 and (0.230 ±0.012) g/cm2 in sham group and (0.181 ±0.008) g/cm2 and (0.201 ± 0.016) g/cm2 in OVX group,which reached statistical difference (P<0.01).BMD of right femur and L3-5 was (0.203 ±0.009) g/cm2 and (0.224 ±0.028) g/cm2 in OVX + E group and (0.200 ± 0.011 ) g/cm2 and (0.204 ± 0.003 ) g/cm2 in OVX + P group,which were all higher than those in OVX group (P <0.01,P <0.05).However,there was no statistical difference in BMD between OVX + E and OVX + P group ( P > 0.05).(2) Morphology of bone:bone trabeculae became fewer and degenerated in OVX group.However,bone trabeculae were regular and dense in OVX + P group and OVX + E group,which were similar to those in sham group.(3) Expression of COX-2:cells with COX-2 positive and expression of COX-2 around bone trabeculae in OVX group were more than those in sham,OVX + E and OVX + P group.Conclusion COX-2 plays an important role in PMOP.Aspirin could prevent bone loss by decreasing COX-2 expression in OVX rats.
5.A Review:the Molecular Mechanisms of InlA- and InlB- mediated Invasion of Listeria monocytogenes into Host Cell

Gram-positive food-borne pathogen Listeria monocytogenes can invade non-phagocytic cells of the hosts by means of the special surface proteins and cause severe systemic infections. Internalins play a key role for Listeria monocytogenes in invading the non-phagocytic cells. In this study we will review and expand upon the recent advances in understanding the molecular mechanisms of InlA- and InlB- mediating the invasion of Listeria monocytogenes into host cells. This paper will also provide the theoretical base for pathogenetic mechanisms, precaution and therapy of food-borne pathogens.
6.Clinico pathologic characteristics and molecular phenotypes of young breast cancer patients and their clinical significance

Objective:To study the clinico-pathologic characteristics, molecular phenotypes, and prognosis of young breast can-cer patients. Methods:Data from 133 low-age (age≤30 years) young breast cancer patients and 117 young (31 years≤age≤35 years) breast cancer patients who underwent surgery between January 2002 and December 2009 were reviewed. Cases of the middle and old-age elderly (age>35 years) breast cancer patients during the corresponding period were randomly selected as matched controls. The clinico-pathologic characteristics, molecular phenotypes, and prognosis were retrospectively analyzed. Results:The low-age young and young breast cancer patients significantly differed from the elderly patients in terms of tumor size, lymph node metastasis, histological grading, molecular phenotype, and relapse (P<0.05). The low-age young patients are more vulnerable to have triple-negative breast can-cer, recurrence, and distant metastasis (P<0.001). Moreover, the low-age young patients have lower overall survival and disease-free survival than the other groups (P<0.05). Conclusion:Young breast cancer patients have poor prognosis compared with the elderly. Ear-ly screening and prompt treatment are necessary for young breast cancer patients.
7.Synergism effect of 131 I-Herceptin and high-energy X-ray on HER2 overexpressed breast cancer cells

Objective To study the synergism effect of 131 I-Herceptin and high-energy X-ray on HER2 overexpressed breast cancer SK-BR-3 cells.Methods The protein expression and gene amplification of human epidermal growth factor receptor-2 ( HER2 ) in SK-BR-3 cells were identified by immunohistochemistry and fluorescence in situ hybridization ( FISH ) method, 131 I-Herceptin was prepared by iodogen method, and the IC15 concentration of 131 I-Herceptin on SK-BR-3 cell were selected by MTT method.The cells were divided into control group and drug group according to 131 I-Herceptin used or not, and were delivered five different doses of external irradiation (0,2,4 and 6Gy), and the synergism effect was detected by colonogenic assay.The cells were divided into blank group, drug group(131I-Herceptin), X-ray group(2 Gy external irradiation) and combination group (131I-Herceptin+2 Gy external irradiation), the apoptosis rate and death rate were detected by AO/EB method and cell cycle were detected by flow cytometry.Results The labling rate, radiochemical purity and specific radioactivity of 131 I-Herceptin were 86.8%, 93.9% and 868.3 μci/mg, respectively.The IC15 of 131 I-Herceptin was 15.625μci/mL.131 I-Herceptin and high-energy X-ray significantly reduced surviving fraction ( SF) ( F=628.888,F=964.97,P<0.05) and there were interactions between them (F=113.046,P<0.05).There were significant differences in apoptosis rate and death rate among blank group, drug group, X-ray group and combination group(F=103.324,F=13.33,all P<0.05),and there were significant differences of pairwise comparison (P<0.05).After irradiation and 131I-Herceptin administration, the cell cycle changed obviously from G1-phase to G2-and S-phase.Conclusion 131 I-Herceptin combined with high-energy X-ray has the synergism effect on HER2 overexpressed breast cancer SK-BR-3 cells.
8.Penile metastasis from rectal carcinoma: a case report and literature review.

OBJECTIVETo improve the diagnosis and treatment of penile metastasis from rectal carcinoma.
METHODSWe reported a case of penile metastasis secondary to rectal adenocarcinoma, reviewed the relevant literature, and discussed the common origins, clinical features, pathogenic mechanisms, diagnosis and treatment of this disease.
RESULTSThe patient was a 54-year-old male, with metastatic penile tumors secondary to rectal adenocarcinoma, with serious adhesion to the surrounding tissue and metastasis to the liver. As treatment, we performed colostomy to relieve voiding difficulty, followed by combination chemotherapy with oxaliplatin, 5-fluorouracil, and levofolinate. The patient died 10 months later as a result of systemic failure.
CONCLUSIONPenile metastatic malignancy has a poor prognosis. Early diagnosis and combined and individualized therapies may improve the quality of life, relieve pain and prolong the life of the patient.

9.Effect of Rosuvastatin on the function of vascular endothelial and inflammatory response in patients with acute myocardial infarction after intervention

Objective To observe the effect of Rosuvastatin on the function of vascular endothelial and inflammatory response in patients with acute myocardial infarction ( AMI) after intervention. Methods Seventy-eight patients with AMI patients underwent coronary angiography and PCI treatment The patients were divided into the control group (38 patients) and the Rosuvastatin group (40 patients) after PCI treatment All patients were routinely used nitrates, low molecular weight heparin,aspirin,clopidogrel,the Rosuvastatin group were treated on the basis of conventional medication plus service Rosuvastatin 10 mg/time, once a day. Both groups were continuous medicated for 6 months. Cardiovascular events of all patients, the serum lipids, inflammation-related biomarkers and indicators of vascular endothelial function were followed up for 6 months after discharge. Results The cardiovascular events in the Rosuvastatin group (5. 0% ) was significantly lower than that of the control group (18.4%) after discharge within 6 months (χ2 = 4. 52, P < 0. 05). After 6 months of discharge, the serum lipids, the serum IL-6, hs-CRP,plasma ET-1 and ox-LDL of Rosuvastatin group ((2. 16 ±0. 54)mmol/L,(4. 16 ±0. 28)mmol/L,(6. 80 ± 2. 65) ng/L, (4. 02 ± 1. 58) mg/L, ( 62. 45 ± 9. 38) ng/L and 381. 65 ± 39. 73, respectively) was significantly lower than those of the control group ((2.47 ±0. 59) mmol/L, (5. 29 ±0. 31 )mmol/L, (9. 39 ±4. 17) ng/L, (5. 76 ± 1. 52)ng/L, (81. 75 ± 10. 23) ng/L and 485. 91 ±42. 68,respectively) (t =2. 423,16. 910,3. 291,4. 952,8. 691 and 11. 173 , respectively , P <0. 01 ). The serum NO of Rosuvastatin group ( ( 62. 17 ± 17. 69 ) μmol/L) was significantly higher than than that of the control group ( (48. 27 ±18. 35 ) μmol/L) (t = 3.406, P < 0.01 ) . The serious adverse events were not observed in the Rosuvastatin group. Conclusions Rosuvastatin reduces inflammatory reaction after PCI in patients with AMI, improves endothelial function, and reduces adverse reactions.
10.Study on correlation between nonalcoholic fatty liver disease and metabolic syndrome in retired old people in Wuhan

Objective To investigate the prevalences of the nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and metabolic syndrome( MS), and analyze the relationship between the two kinds of diseases in retired old people in Wuhan. Methods Seven hundred and eighteen retired old people (≥60 years old) were surveyed. The height, body mass index, waist circumference, blood pressure, blood glucose, blood lipid and liver B uhrasonography were examined. Results The prevalences of MS and NAFLD were 25.2% and 25.9% respectively, and the prevalences of hypertension, hyperglycemia, hypertriglyceridemia, low high-density lipoprotein cholesterol and abdominal obesity were 89.2%, 29.6%, 40.3%, 10.3% and 38.6% respectively. The prevalence of MS was higher in women than in men (χ2=21.0, P<0.05). The risk of NAFLD was increased with the increase of MS components numbers (male: χ2=82.9;female: χ2=23.7, both P<0.01). There was a positive correlation between the prevalence of NAFLD and MS in the elderly (male: OR=2.216;female: OR =4.848,both P<0.01). Conclusions The prevalences of NAFLD and MS are high in retired old people in Wuhan, and there is significant relationship between the two kinds of diseases. Great attention should be paid to the two risk factors for cardiovascular diseases in the elderly.
