2.Effects of miniscrew implant anchorage on adjacent roots and periodontal tissues
Chinese Journal of Tissue Engineering Research 2014;(38):6085-6089
BACKGROUND:Implanted site and direction of miniscrew implants, post-implantation movement of implants, contact between tooth and implant after tooth movement al can cause root damage.
OBJECTIVE:To investigate the changes of the root surface, periodontal tissue and osteoprotegerin expression in the periodontal tissue at periods of time after miniscrew implant loading.
METHODTwo beagle dogs were selected. For each dog, miniscrews were implanted into the labial alveolar bone near the roots of the maxil ary second, third, and fourth premolars and the maxil ary second, third, and fourth premolars and first molar. Fourteen miniscrew implants were in one dog, including six in the maxil ary and eight in the mandible;two miniscrews of the maxil ary acted as control group with no loading, and the rest miniscrews were as experimental group under orthodontics force. Two weeks after miniscrew implantation, 150 g force was loaded between two miniscrews with nickel-titanium closed-coil springs. The dogs were sacrificed after miniscrews loading 4 and 8 weeks respectively, the teeth were cut completely with alveolar bone tissue and decalcified to make the histological specimen. The histological changes of the root and periodontal tissue were observed by hematoxylin-eosin staining and expression of osteoprotegrin in the periodontal ligament was also inspected by using immunohistochemistry.
RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:When the miniscrews were adjacent to the roots, absorption lacuna occurred in the alveolar bone;after horizontal force was loaded opposite to the roots, alveolar resorption became much more animate. When the miniscrews contacted with the pericementum, some areas of the cement absorbed seriously and even reached the dentin;when sustaining pressure from the miniscrews, the whole layer of the cement absorbed and the dentin was exposed and began to be absorbed. The osteoprotegrin in the periodontal ligament of control group expressed sharply and its expression was notable at 8 weeks;while the osteoprotegrin of experimental group weakly expressed at 8 weeks, and there was significant divergence between control group and experimental group at 8 weeks (P<0.01). The roots and periodontal tissue were al damaged variously after miniscrew implantation adjacent to the roots. When horizontal orthodontic force was loaded opposite to the roots, the expression of osteoprotegrin was influenced slightly;as the loading period prolonged, pressure dramatical y restrained the expression of osteoprotegrin. When discovering the miniscrew implant adjacent to roors, the miniscrew implant anchorage should not be used to load orthodontical force opposite to the roots but ought to be removed in order to leave the root repair autonomously and avoid further damage.

Objective To evaluated a new automate ultra sonographic system for detecting benign and malignant breast tumors in three-dimensions.Methods A magnetic sensor to track the probe in a real time during scanning and a series of sequential cross-sectional images, together with information giving precise location and the direction of movement of the probe, were fed into the computer.Fuzzy logic was used to classify tumor, boundary, and normal breast tissue in order to extract an image of the tumor and its margin through three-dimensional (3D) transformation. Results The difference between the surface roughness of benign and malignant tumors was found by comparing their computer -rendered surface images. The values of the S/V ratio of surface area (S 3) divided by volume (V 2) of malignant tumors were larger than those of benign tumors. Mean ratio was 3.43 in benign tumors, 9.08 in malignant tumors.T-test results showed these differences between benign and malignant tumors to be significant(P

Objective To observe the relationship between the expression of GFAP and iNOS the post-traumatic intervals after experimental cerebral contusion,in order to attempt to find out a method of timing wound age of brain contusion in the forensic prediction of injury time. Methods After setting up an model of experimental focal cerebral contusion in rats, immunohistochemical method was applied to observing the changes of inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) and glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) staining combined with histology method in rats. The immunostaining results were measured quantitatively with computer imaging analysis system. Results (1) At 3h after injury,GFAP-positive astrocytes around the wounded area were definitely detected. The intensity and the area of GFAP-positive cells increased following the post-traumatic intervals. The intensity peaked dually at 1d and 5d,respectively,followed by reduction at 3d,which revealed two-peak waveforms,The area of GFAP positive cells enhanced significantly at 3h and gradually increased with prolonging survival time, and reached a peak at 7d after injury.(2) At 12h after injury, the iNOS isoform was present and iNOS positive staining cells were noted. The intensity and the area of iNOS positive cells increased following the post-traumatic intervals. The area of positive reached maximal level at 1-3days,gradually subsided after 5d,and maintain a higher lever up to 7d post-injury;but the intensity of individual positive cell gradually increased with prolonging survival time, reached a peak at 5d and gradually subsided after 5d,but the level was still higher than the initial interval. Conclusions Expression of GFAP and iNOS is correlated with post-traumatic intervals after cerebral contusion in rats, suggesting that the expression of iNOS and GFAP may be served as the markers for timing of brain contusion in forensic practice.

Objective To explore how to improve the diagnosis and surgical treatment of primary gallbladder carcinoma. Methods The clinical data of 59 patients with primary gallbladder carcinoma underwent operative treatment in our hospital from January 1985 to December 1999 were retrospectively analyzed. Results There were 22 males and 37 females in this series (M:F=1:1.68). 59%(35/59) patients were complicated by gallstone. Right upper quadrant abdominal pain, jaundice and abdominal mass were the major clinical manifestations. 34 cases underwent cholecystectomy with 57%(34/59) resection rate. Pathological examination showed that gallbladder carcinomas accounted for 94%. Postoperative 1-,3-,5-year survival rates were 36%(21/59), 20%(12/59)and 10%(6/59), respectively. The postoperative survival rate of the early stage patients was higher than that of the advanced patients(P

Journal of Chinese Physician 2001;0(09):-
Objective To investigate the effects of neferine on the proliferation and the P-glycoprotein(P-gp) expression of refractory/relapsed acute leukemic cells and to provide experimental evidence for further clinical use. Methods MTT and immunocytochemistry SABC methods were used respectively to observe the alteration of the proliferation and the expression of P-gp in refractory/relapsed acute leukemic cells after treating with neferine. Results The inhibition ratio on acute leukemic cells of neferine adding adriamycin(ADM) group was significantly higher than that of ADM group (P0.05). Conclusion [WTBZ]Neferine can inhibit the proliferation of refractory/relapsed acute leukemic cells, and reduce the P-gp expression of refractory/relapsed acute leukemic cells and consequently reverse multidrug resistance(MDR).
9.The risk factors of deep candidal colonization in patients with connective tissue diseases
Chinese Journal of Dermatology 1995;0(01):-
Objective To investigate the incidence of candidal colonization and to analyze its risk factors in patients with connective tissue diseases (CTDs). Methods Throat swabs, midstream urine and anal swabs from 153 patients with CTDs and 63 healthy volunteers were collected for fungus culture. The logistic regression was completed via the software package SPSS 11.0. Results The incidence rate of candidal colonization was higher in the patients than that in the healthy controls (35.29% vs 7.59%). Of all the isolated fungus strains, the proportion of Candida albicans was the highest. The logistic regression analysis revealed that decrease of blood erythrocytes, increase of urine protein, decrease of complements such as CH50, C3 and C4 in serum, high daily dosage of corticosteroids and broad-spectrum antibiotic administration all significantly increased the risk of candidal colonization (all P 0.05). Conclusions The incidence rate of candidal colonization in patients with CTDs is higher than that in healthy controls. Avoiding the risk factors will help to decrease the incidence of candidal colonization in CTDs.
