Objective To analyze the epidemic characteristics of varicella and the genetic characteristics of varicella zoster virus (VZV) in Yangzhou in 2021, and to provide a theoretical basis for the scientific prevention and control of varicella in Yangzhou. Methods Descriptive epidemiological analysis was carried out on the varicella outbreaks reported in Yangzhou in 2021. Throat swabs or herpes fluid samples from varicella cases in 2021 were collected, and the viral nucleic acid was detected by real-time fluorescent quantitative PCR. The genotype and evolutionary relationship of the virus strain were determined according to the 6 SNPs in the ORF22 gene fragment sequence. Results In 2021, there were 20 varicella outbreaks in Yangzhou, involving 147 cases, all of which occurred in kindergartens and primary and secondary schools, and the peak incidence was in the age group of 4-7 years old. The high incidence time of the outbreaks was from May to July, and from November to January of the next year. The varicella vaccination rate of the cases was low, and all were 1-dose vaccination. The gene sequencing results of 8 samples were J/clade 2, and 3 of them had A-C synonymous mutation at position 37997 in ORF22 sequence. Conclusion In 2021, varicella outbreaks in Yangzhou occurred mainly in kindergartens and schools. Preschool children are susceptible, all of which are caused by J/clade 2 varicella-zoster virus. It is suggested to strengthen the monitoring and management of the varicella epidemic situation in schools in the city, and at the same time incorporate the varicella vaccine into the routine immunization program of the city and strengthen 2 doses of varicella vaccination.

Objective To evaluate the effectiveness and benefit of influenza vaccination among school-age children in Xining, Qinghai. Methods A total of 215 children were randomly recruited as the vaccination group and vaccinated with trivalent split influenza vaccine. At the same time, 215 healthy children (no known diseases and past history reported, and no vaccinations) who underwent physical examinations during the same period were selected as the control group. The basic demographic information was investigated and a 1-year follow-up was carried out. Results The demographic characteristics of children in the vaccinated group and the control group were not significantly different (P>0.05), and were comparable between the two groups. After four follow-up visits within one year for the enrolled children, the overall incidence of influenza-like illness in children in the vaccinated group and the control group was 7.4% (16/215) and 16.7% (36/215), respectively, and the difference was statistically significant (χ2=8.75, P<0.05). The protection rate was 55.7%, and the protection index was 2.26. The common cold incidence rates in the two groups were 16.7% (36/215) and 25.6% (55/215), respectively, and the difference was statistically significant (χ2=5.03, P<0.05). The protection rate was 35.0%, and the protection index was 1.54. The incidence of other respiratory diseases was 1.8% (4/215) and 3.8% (8/215), respectively, and the difference was not statistically significant (χ2=1.37, P>0.05). The protection rate was 52.6%, and the protection index was 2.11. The proportions of irrational use of antibiotics were 6.0% (13/215) and 20.9% (45/215), respectively, and the difference was statistically significant (χ2=20.41, P<0.05). The protection rate was 71.3%, and the protection index was 3.48. The per capita income from vaccination was 667.9 yuan, and the benefit-cost ratio was 9.97:1. Conclusion Influenza vaccination for school-age children can effectively prevent the incidence of influenza-like diseases and the common cold, and the vaccination is cost-effective.

Objective To explore the association of (cardiometabolic index , CMI ) and ( lipid accumulation product , LAP ) with the prevalence of hypertension in adults in Pingshan District, Shenzhen, and to evaluate the predictive value of CMI and LAP for the prevalence of hypertension. Methods A cross-sectional survey was conducted, in which 1000 permanent residents aged 18-69 years in Pingshan District, Shenzhen were randomly selected as survey subjects. The data were collected using questionnaires, physical measurements and blood tests, and the relationship between CMI, LAP and hypertension prevalence was analyzed using logistic regression models. Results A total of 987 subjects were included in the analysis, including 471 (47.72%) males and 516 (52.28%) females, with an average age of 40.9 ± 11.1 years. Subjects of different genders were divided into groups Q1 to Q4 according to quartiles of CMI and LAP, and the prevalence of hypertension increased with increasing levels of CMI and LAP in both men and women (P for trend < 0.001). Logistic regression analysis revealed that after adjusting for variables such as age and occupation, the OR for hypertension was 1.251 (1.025-1.526) and 1.685 (1.001-2.836) for men and women, respectively, for each standard deviation increase in CMI; the OR for hypertension was 3.519 (1.343-9.222) for men in the Q4 group, compared to the CMI subgroup Q1. For each standard deviation increase in LAP, the ORs for hypertension were 1.355 (1.089-1.686) and 1.825 (1.023-3.254) for men and women, respectively; compared to LAP subgroup Q1, the ORs for hypertension in the male Q3 and Q4 groups were 2.554 (1.103-5.909) and 5.322 (2.393-11.834), while the OR for hypertension in the female Q4 group was 2.906 (1.096-7.703). ROC analysis revealed that the area under the curve (AUC) for CMI, LAP, and BMI was 0.671, 0.704, and 0.702 for males, and 0.660, 0.722, and 0.697 for females, respectively. The AUC for LAP was greater than that for CMI for different genders (P < 0.01). Conclusion The greater the CMI and LAP values in adults in Pingshan District, Shenzhen , the higher the prevalence of hypertension. CMI and LAP have certain values in predicting the prevalence of hypertension.

Objective To investigate the characteristics and influencing factors of mental health status of permanent residents in Yichang, Hubei Province. Methods A total of 9 576 permanent residents aged 18 years and older from Yichang City were selected by a multistage random sampling method between June and October 2022. The PHQ-9 was used to assess the residents’ depressive symptoms, the GAD-7 was used to assess their anxiety symptoms, the ISI was used to assess their insomnia status, and the PCL-5 was used to assess their stress status. The influence factors of depression and anxiety were analyzed using χ2 test and logistic regression. Results A total of 9 122 valid questionnaires were completed. The detection rate of depression, anxiety, insomnia, and stress symptoms were 29.98%, 19.03%, 11.97% and 1.58%, respectively. Gender, education level, monthly family income, self-rated health status, mental health literacy level, total GAD-7 score, total ISI score, and total PCL-5 score were the main factors that caused residents' anxiety symptoms, while gender, education level, self-rated health status, total PHQ-9 score, total ISI score, and total PCL-5 score were the main factors that caused residents' anxiety symptoms. Conclusion The prevalence of depression and anxiety is high among the permanent residents in Yichang, while the situation of insomnia and stress is relatively good. Measures such as improving the level of mental health literacy can be taken to improve mental health level of residents in Yichang.
