Objective To investigate the efficacy of transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) combined with autologous DC-CIK cells in treating hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) of BCLC C-stage. Methods A total of 60 cases with HCC in BCLC C-stage were randomly and equally divided into the study group (n=30) and the control group (n=30). TACE combined with autologous DC-CIK cells was employed in the patients of the study group, while only TACE was adopted in the patients of the control group. The immune function, six-month and one-year survival rates were determined, and the results were compared between the two groups. Results In the study group, the blood T lymphocyte subsets of CD3+CD8+ were significantly increased, while CD3+CD4+ were obviously decreased. When compared with the pretreatment levels, the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). The six-month survival rate of the study group and the control group was 67.9% and 48.1% respectively (P<0.05), and the one-year survival rate of the study group and the control group was 53.6%and 29.6%respectively (P<0.05). Conclusion For the treatment of HCC in BCLC C-stage, the therapeutic effect of TACE combined with autologous DC-CIK cells is much better than that of pure TACE. Therefore, this therapy is an effective treatment for HCC in BCLC C-stage.

Objective To evaluate the TriVex system in the treatment of varicose veins of lower extremities, focusing on postoperative complications and management. Methods Clinical data of 108 patients (146 legs) of varicose veins of the lower extremity undergoing TriVex procedure were retrospectively analyzed.Deep veinons patency was verified in all patients by preoperative sonography.Above knee stripping of the great saphenous vein was done first when necessary. The below knee phlebectomy of the side branches was done with the new system (Trivex System/Smith and Nephew).Postoperative patients were followed-up,and results were evaluated. Results Procedure was successful in all cases.98 cases were followed up for 1 ~ 24 months. The mean operation time per leg was (34±8) minutes.Complications were as following:26 legs (17.8%) developed postoperative hematoma which was healed by conservative therapy including two cases in which the tension seroma, which was successfully managed by puncture aspiration.Transien skin numbness or paraesthesia developed in 13.0% (19/146).Subcutaneous induration in 11.6%(17/146) cases.Residual varicose and recurrence in 3.4% (5/146).Incision related complications developed in 4.8% (7/149) cases. Conclusion Transilluminated powered phlebectomy (TriVex) is a safe and effective cosmetic procedure for less invasive varicose vein surgery.

The most two advanced development in cancer immunotherapy: (1) Infusion with in vitro activated or gene-modified T cells; (2) Activation of suppressive immune cells by antibodies to exert cytotoxicity. The first one about gene-modified T cells is mainly referred to chimeric antigen receptor-T cells (CAR-T) that have shown the significant efficacy in some haematological malignancies. The latter one about immune checkpoint blockades takes effects on tumors with burden of gene mutations. For cancer patients, however, tumor microenvironment is suppressed highly more than the systemic immune. Normalizing or enhancing the local microenvironment by systemic activation of immune response may cause the overreaction in other normal tissues, even severe damage, for example interstitial lung diseases, acute myocarditis, and severe liver failure. This review summarizes the characterization and classification of tumor immune microenvironment, development of cancer treatment and immunotherapy, and elucidates the importance of targeting tumor immune microenvironment. The key strategy is pointed out to efficiently and precision target tumor immune microenvironment by using self-secreting antibody CAR-T cells (baize T cells), quickly enhancing the immune function in tumor microenvironment, which may eventually cure cancer.

Objective To explore the influences of the teaching mode based on working process systematization on teaching results of geriatric nursing. Methods A totally of 209 students of 2013 higher vocational nursing major in four classes were selected and divided into the experimental group and the control group by simple random methods, among which the experimental group contains 103 students who were taught in teaching mode based on working process systematization while the control group contains 106 students who were taught in the traditional teaching mode. The new teaching mode′s design and development linked closely to working situations and tasks; adopt the teaching mode combining teaching, learning and practicing together aimed at the position requirements of old-age nursing service system at the core of the true clinic old-age nursing work-post-skills, which were based on nurse practice qualification. Students′ performance achievement between two groups after teaching were compared. The thinking ability of students was evaluated by judging thought scale, and the students′ evaluation of the new teaching method in the experimental group was accessed by a self-designed questionnaire based on working process systematization. Results After the implementation of teaching, there were significant differences between students in two groups in their performance in theory examination and practice examination based on statistics tests ( P<0. 05 ); after the intervention, there were statistically significance in the differences in students′critical thinking ability between two groups by comparison in term of each aspect such as reasoning, agree on the assumptions, explanation, deduction, discoursing ( t=7. 452, 6. 964,10.220,4.771,4.765;P<0.05);the students in the experimental group made a positive evaluation on the teaching method based on working process systematization. Conclusions The teaching method based on working process systematization is available for the teaching of geriatric nursing in higher vocational institutions, and is helpful for students to master professional skills, cultivate their spirit of innovation, strengthen their team spirit, communication skills, critical thinking ability and other qualities. This new method is worth learning in the teaching of geriatric nursing course in higher vocational colleges.

Expression and regulation of genetic genes determine the senescent process. Generally, aging has been regarded as an irreversible process. Along with age increasing, each organ of the body including immune system experiences senescence. Immunosenescence promotes the age-related diseases, such as tumor, cardiovascular diseases, Alzheimer's disease, osteoporosis, and so on. These diseases seriously affect the quality of human life and longevity. How to delay senility, maintain immune function, and keep a good health have become the hot points of social concerns. Inthisreview, by discussing theaging, immunosenescence and its related diseases, aging and tumor treatment as well as anti-aging and disease treatment etc, we explore the mechanisms, prevention and treatment of senescence, senescence-related disease and anti-aging.

Immunotherapy has become the fourth cancer therapy after surgery, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy. In particular, immune checkpoint inhibitors are proved to be unprecedentedly in increasing the overall survival rates of patients with refractory cancers, such as advanced melanoma, non-small cell lung cancer, and renal cell carcinoma. However, inhibitor therapies are only effective in a small proportion of patients with problems, such as side effects and high costs. Therefore, doctors urgently need reliable predictive biomarkers for checkpoint inhibitor therapies to choose the optimal therapies. Here, we review the biomarkers that can serve as potential predictors of the outcomes of immune checkpoint inhibitor treatment, including tumor-specific profiles and tumor microenvironment evaluation and other factors.
