1.Regulative effect of the canonical Wnt pathway on osteogenesis
International Journal of Biomedical Engineering 2014;37(4):242-246
The Wnt signaling pathway, including the canonical and the non-canonical,is a conservative pathway which participates in organ development and tissue metabolism. The canonical Wnt pathway plays an important role in osteogenesis, bone formation and mineralization through the osteogenesis associated transcription factors. The canonical Wnt pathway also regulates osteogenic differentiation of the stem cells in the periodontal tissue and the regulative effect is influenced by the microenvironment.Understanding of the canonical Wnt pathway will contribute to the treatment of some related bone diseases.

ONYX-015 and H101 are E1B 55-kDa protein-deficient replicating C group adenoviruses that are currently in clinical trials as antitumor agents. However, their application in cancer gene therapy is limited by the native tropism of C group adenoviruses. This is in part due to low expression of the C group adenovirus receptor (coxsackievirus-adenovirus receptor, CAR) on malignant tumors. An H101-based chimeric virus vector containing sequences encoding the Ad35 fiber domain instead of the Ad5 fiber (H101-F35) was constructed. This modification allowed infection of tumor cells through CD46, a membrane protein over-expressed on tumors. The CAR and CD46 RNA expression was evaluated by RT-PCR method. H101-F35 conferred a stronger cytocidal effect than H101 and ONYX-015 in tumor cell lines that lacked CAR expression (MDA-MB-435 and MCF-7), while the cytocidal effect of H101-35, H101 and ONYX-015 was similar in high-level CAR expressing cancer cell lines (A549, NCI-H446, Hep3B, LNCaP, ZR-75-30 and Bcap-37). In an MDA-MB-435 xenograft mouse tumor model, tumor growth in mice receiving H101-F35 was significantly inhibited compared with mice injected with H101. These results suggest that the chimeric oncolytic adenovirus H101-F35 vector might be a useful candidate for gene therapy of cancer.

Objective:
To analyze the normal value of the iodine content in the left ventricular myocardium of healthy subjects and to observe if there is a segmental differences on iodine distribution by using the second generation dual-source dual-energy computed tomography myocardial first perfusion imaging.
Methods:
In this retrospective study, 42 healthy subjects, who admitted to our department between January to June 2016, with normal second generation dual-source dual-energy computed tomography and coronary CT angioghphy (CTA), electrocardiogram (ECG) results, normal cardiac, hepatic, renal function, normal myocardial enzymes results were enrolled, data from 38 out of 42 subjects with satisfactory image quality were analyzed using Siemens Dual Energy-Heart PBV image processing software. In accordance with the standards of the American Heart Association myocardial 17 fractionation method, content of iodine was measured at different segmental left ventricular myocardium and aorta (left coronary artery from the opening level). The standardized containing iodine value (nIC) was calculated.
Results:
The iodine content of left ventricular myocardium in normal subjects was 3.1-7.8 mg/ml.The nIC of myocardium from 1st to 17th segments was 0.28±0.06, 0.31±0.07, 0.30±0.07, 0.30±0.04, 0.28±0.04, 0.29±0.05, 0.29±0.01, 0.30±0.07, 0.31±0.07, 0.27±0.06, 0.28±0.08, 0.28±0.07, 0.29±0.08, 0.31±0.07, 0.27±0.06, 0.29±0.06 and 0.21±0.07, respectively. The nIC of the 17th segment was the lowest and was significantly lower than in other segments (all

Journal of Southern Medical University 2020;40(5):713-717
OBJECTIVE:
To explore the relationship between sample size in the groups and statistical power of ANOVA and Kruskal-Wallis test with an imbalanced design.
METHODS:
The sample sizes of the two tests were estimated by SAS program with given parameter settings, and Monte Carlo simulation was used to examine the changes in power when the total sample size varied or remained fixed.
RESULTS:
In ANOVA, when the total sample size was fixed, increasing the sample size in the group with a larger mean square error improved the statistical power, but an excessively large difference in the sample sizes between groups led to reduced power. When the total sample size was not fixed, a larger mean square error in the group with increased sample size was associated with a greater increase of the statistical power. In Kruskal-wallis test, when the total sample size was fixed, increasing the sample size in groups with large mean square errors increased the statistical power irrespective of the sample size difference between the groups; when total sample size was not fixed, a larger mean square error in the group with increased sample size resulted in an increased statistical power, and the increment was similar to that for a fixed total sample size.
CONCLUSIONS
The relationship between statistical power and sample size in groups is affected by the mean square error, and increasing the sample size in a group with a large mean square error increases the statistical power. In Kruskal-Wallis test, increasing the sample size in a group with a large mean square error is more cost- effective than increasing the total sample size to improve the statistical power.

Objective:To analyze the clinical efficacy and safety of endoluminal treatment of complex renal artery aneurysm (RAA).Methods:The clinical data and follow-up results of 19 patients with complex RAA admitted to Renji Hospital, Shanghai Jiaotong University School of Medicine from November 2014 to September 2021 were retrospectively analyzed. Two patients were treated with simple spring coil embolization into the aneurysmal artery, 14 patients were treated with simple spring coil embolization of the aneurysmal cavity, and 3 patients were treated with stent-assisted + spring coil embolization technique. Based on the location of the aneurysm, RAA were classified into type Ⅰ, Ⅱ, and Ⅲ. 7 patients with type Ⅰ, 10 patients with type Ⅱ, and 2 patients with type Ⅲ were studied. Variance analysis was used to compare the differences in glomerular filtration rate(GFR) of the affected side when the tumor was located at different locations, and Pearson was used to analyze the correlation between the number of coils implanted and the size of the tumor and GFR.Results:Ten of the 19 patients who were underwent successful endoluminal intervention. The average size of the patients′ aneurysms was (20.89±6.65) mm, and the average number of spring coils implanted was 8.22±3.08. The preoperative and postoperative serum creatinine were in the normal range, and no RAA tumor enlargement or recurrence was found during the follow-up period. The postoperative GFR was abnormal in patients with type Ⅰ, type Ⅱ, and type Ⅲ renal aneurysms, and the mean GFR value differed among the three types of patients( P=0.003). There was a negative correlation between the postoperative GFR values of the affected kidney and the number of spring coils implanted ( P=0.047), and no significant relationship between GFR and aneurysm size. Conclusion:The endovascular technique is an effective and safe means of treating complex RAA.
