Chinese Journal of Primary Medicine and Pharmacy 2021;28(3):389-393
Objective:To analyze routine blood test results of pregnant women at different periods of pregnancy and evaluate the health status of pregnant women. Methods:A total of 240 pregnant women with anemia who underwent antenatal care or delivery in Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, The People's Hospital of Yuhuan from January 2018 to June 2019 were included in this study. They were divided into three groups according to different periods of pregnancy with 80 women in each group: first trimester, second trimester, and third trimester. Additional 80 non-pregnant women who concurrently received health examination were included as controls. Routine blood test results were compared among groups. The incidence of microcytic anemia and macrocytic anemia at different periods of pregnancy was determined. Results:The incidence of microcytic anemia in the third trimester group [3.75% (3/80)] was significantly lower than that in the first trimester group [26.25% (21/80)] and the second trimester group [25.00% (20/80), χ2 = 15.882, 14.675, both P < 0.05]. The incidence of macrocytic anemia in the third trimester group [22.50% (18/80)] was significantly higher than that in the first trimester group [1.25% (1/80)] and the second trimester group [3.75% (3/80), χ2 = 17.260, 12.333, both P < 0.05]. Red blood cell count and hemoglobin and hematocrit levels in the peripheral blood of pregnant women in the first, second and third trimester groups were significantly lower compared with the control group ( t = 8.579, 16.781, 13.964, 10.154, 15.891 and 15.512, all P < 0.05). Red blood cell count, hemoglobin and hematocrit levels in the second trimester group were significantly lower than those in the other three groups (all P < 0.05). In the first, second and third trimester groups, white blood cell count and percentage of neutrophils were increased, and platelet count was decreased ( t = 23.085, 24.187, 27.941, 15.722, 22.153, 13.277, 31.517, 32.901, 32.227, all P < 0.05) compared with the control group. The increases in white blood cell count and percentage of neutrophils in the second trimester group were significantly greater than those in the first and third trimester groups, and platelet count in the third trimester group was significantly lower than that in the first and second trimester groups (all P < 0.05). Conclusion:Monitoring routine blood indexes can help assess the health status of pregnant women. Adjusting nutrition program in time can decrease the incidence of adverse pregnancy outcomes.

Objective To explore the role of oxidative stress in the epithelial-tomesenchymal transition (EMT) of tubular epithelial cells and the protective effect of probucol in rat model with diabetic nephropathy (DN). Methods Thirty SD rats were randomly divided into normal control group, DN group, probucol treatment group (supplemented 1% probucol dietary). Twentyfour hours urinary protein excretion (UTP) was measured at the 3rd, the 8th and the 12th week respectively. The biochemical indicators including blood glucose (BG), lipids [triglyceride (TG), total cholesterol (TC)], low-density lipoprotein (LDL), serum creatinine (Scr), creatinine clearance rate (Ccr),kidney tissue malondialdehyde (MDA) level and glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px) activity were assessed at the end of the 12th week in all groups. The renal pathological changes were evaluated by hematoxylin & eosin (HE) and Masson staining. The protein expression of specificity protein 1 (Sp1), α-smooth muscle actin (α-SMA) and E-cadherin was also detected and analyzed by immunohistochemistry and Western blotting. Results Compared with the normal control group, the BG, TC, LDL, Scr, 24 h UTP and MDA level of renal tissue increased significantly and the Ccr reduced in the rats of DN group (all P<0.01). The pathological scores and the expression of Sp1 and α-SMA in renal tissue were higher in the DN animals than that in the other animals (all P<0.01), the expression of E-cadherin downregulated significantly in the DN animals (P<0.01). The MDA level of renal tissue was positively correlated to the expression of α-SMA and Sp1 protein in DN group (r=0.896, P<0.01; r=0.862, P<0.01, respectively), and negatively correlated to the expression of E-cadherin protein (r=-0.673, P<0.01). In the diabetic animals treated with probucol, the Scr, 24 h UTP, pathological scores, MDA content, expression of Sp1 and α-SMA in renal tissue were lower than those in the diabetic animals (all P<0.01). The Ccr and the expression of E-cadherin upregulated obviously (all P<0.01). Conclusion Oxidative stress plays an important role in the EMT process of tubular epithelial cells. Probucol can slow down renal disease progression in DN rats through anti-oxidant, downregulating the expression of Sp1 protein and inhibiting the renal tubular EMT.

Objective:To investigate the correlation of excessive platelet (Plt) recovery at the first time of achieving morphologic complete remission (CR) after induction chemotherapy with minimal residual disease (MRD) and the clinical features of acute myeloid leukemia (AML).Methods:The clinical data of newly-treated 57 AML patients (except for acute promyelocytic leukemia) who achieved CR after induction chemotherapy in Jinjiang People's Hospital from January 2016 to December 2021 were retrospectively analyzed. A total of 57 newly diagnosed adult AML patients were divided into excessive Plt recovery group (Plt recovery>350×10 9/L) and normal Plt recovery group [Plt recovery: (100-350)×10 9/L] according to the Plt recovery. Meanwhile, the MRD was analyzed by using multiparameter flow cytometry (MFC) in patients achieving CR after receiving 1 course of standard treatment regimen or 1-2 courses of demethylation drugs combined with pre-conditioning regimen. The clinical features and negative rate of MRD between the two groups were compared. Results:Among 57 CR patients, 31 (54.4%) patients had CR with excessive Plt recovery and MFC-MRD negative rate was 67.7% (21/31); 26 (45.6%) had CR with normal Plt recovery and MFC-MRD negative rate was 38.5% (10/26); and the difference in the proportion of MRD negative patients between the both groups was statistically significant ( χ2 = 4.89, P = 0.027). There were no statistically differences in the proportions of patients with different gender, age, WBC at initial diagnosis, Plt, chemotherapy regimen and risk degree classification between the two groups (all P > 0.05). Conclusions:In AML patients, excessive Plt recovery at the first time of achieving morphologic CR after induction chemotherapy is associated with negative MRD, which has a certain value in the judgement of therapeutic effect.
