Background and purpose: Chemokines play an important role in cancer occurrence and development. However, little about the function of CCL26 in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) is reported. This study was designed to observe and study the expression of chemokine CCL26 in ESCC tissues and to analyze their association with pathological features of ESCC. Methods: Expressions of chemokine CCL26 in 197 ESCC tissues and their corresponding paraneoplastic normal esophageal tissues were determined by tissue array and immunohistochemistry (IHC) technique, and its correlations to age, gender, lymph nodes metastasis, TNM stage, general classification and 5-year survival rate of ESCC patients were further analyzed. Results: ①CCL26 was expressed in both ESCC and paraneoplastic normal esophageal tissues. The expression of CCL26 in ESCC tissues was signiifcantly higher than that in paraneoplastic normal esophageal tissues (61.8%vs 20.6%, P<0.05).②The expression of CCL26 was correlated with lymph node metastasis, but not correlated with age, gender, tumor cell differentiation, and general classiifcation (P>0.05).③Survival analysis showed that the abnormal expression of CCL26 was associated with 5-year survival rate of patients with ESCC. The 5-year survival rate of ESCC patients with CCL26 positive expression was obviously lower than that of ESCC patients with CCL26 negative expression. Conclusion: CCL26 upexpression might play an important role in the progression and development of ESCC patients. The high level of CCL26 expression is correlated with lymph node metastasis and poor survival. Detection of CCL26 expression may have important prognostic values in ESCC patients.

Objective To observe the effects of Sanjia Yigan Granule (S-JG) on hepatic fibrosis and explore its mechanism related to anti-lipid peroxidation in rats. Methods Forty male SD rats were randomly divided into four groups: normal group, model group, and compound Salviae Miltiorrhizae (Sm) group and S-JG group. Dimethylnitrosamine was injected intraperitoneally for 4 weeks to induce hepatic fobrosis. At the same time of modeling, Sm and S-JG were given in the corresponding groups. The rats were killed after four weeks. The histomorphylogic structure of the liver tissues was observed under optical microscope; the levels of MDA and SOD in serum were determined by radioimmunoassay. Purpose To explore the diagnostic value of double exponential model for pelvic lesions using 3.0T MRI for the diagnosis of pelvic lesion. Materials and Methods Fifty patients with pelvic lesions (30 benign cases and 20 malignant cases) underwent MR750-diffusion weighted imaging (DWI) scans, with b values of 0, 50, 300, 600, 800 and 1200 s/mm2, Functool-MADC software was used on AW 451 workstations for data processing, Slow ADC value, Fast ADC value, Standard ADC value, Fraction of fast ADC value were recorded and compared between benign and malignant lesions, and Standard ADC images were fused with axial T2 fat-suppressed images. Results Slow ADC values [(1.83±0.86)×10-3 mm2/s] and Standard ADC values [(1.79±0.78)×10-3 mm2/s] of benign lesions were larger than those of the malignant lesions [Slow ADC values:(1.05±0.31)×10-3 mm2/s;Standard ADC values:(1.13±0.39)×10-3 mm2/s] (t=3.90, 3.51;P<0.01), and the difference of Slow ADC value was largest between benign and malignant lesions. Slow ADC values of both benign and malignant lesions were significantly less than the Fast ADC values [benign:Slow ADC value=(1.83±0.86)×10-3 mm2/s, Fast ADC value=(16.95±8.63)×10-3 mm2/s; malignant: Slow ADC value=(1.05±0.31)×10-3 mm2/s, Fast ADC value=(15.12±9.90)×10-3 mm2/s] (t=-10.40,-6.29;P<0.01). Conclusion Double exponential decay model is capable of differentiating benign and malignant pelvic tumors, thus is of great significance for clinical preoperative diagnosis.

Objective To explore the clinical significance of expression of the CD20 in 96 adults B-lineage acute lyrnphoblastic leukemia (B-ALL). Methods The CD20 expression of 96 acute lymphoblastic leukemia patients were determined by flow cytometry. The characteristics ,examination results and outcome were analyzed retrospectively. Results Out of the 96 patients, there were 29 (30.20 %) patients with CD20positive and 67 (69.79 %) patients with CD20 negative. The distribution of age, infiltration of liver, spleen, and lymphnodes, the expression of myeloid lineage marker, the incidence of Ph chromosome and bcr-abl fusion gene and the complete remission rate within 4 weeks between CD20 positive and negative groups showed no significant differences (P ＞ 0.05). The relapse rate and 3 year over survival rate of adults B-ALL in CD20 positive and negative groups were 54.55 % and 14.80 %, 29.63 % and 37.30 % respectively with a significant differences (x2 = 0.42, 5.31, P＜ 0.05). Conclusion The expression of CD20 in adult B-ALL appears to be not associated with clinical features and CD20 expression in adult B-ALL cells appears to be associated with poor prognosis.

Objective To investigate the changes of serum cardiac troponin I(cTnI)and brain natriuretic peptide(BNP)in heart failure of children with pneumonia and their relationship with heart function.Methods Thirty healthy children aged from 5 months to 3 years old were randomly selected with 17 male and 13 female(healthy group).Thirty children with severe heart failure aged from 3 months to 2 years old were selected at the same time with 21 male and 9 female(heart failure group).Thirty children with ordinary pneumonia aged from 3 months to 3 years old were also sampled with 16 male and 14 female(ordinary pneumonia group).The peripheral bloods of 2-3 mL of all children were taken.The BNP level were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay and the cTnI level was determined by micro-particle enzyme immunoluminescent.Left ventricular ejection fraction(LVEF) and left ventricular fractional shor-tening(LVFS)were detected by echocardiography.SPSS 11.0 software was used to analyze the data.Results The levels of cTnI [(0.389?0.030) ?g/L] and BNP [(0.572?0.090) ?g/L] of heart failure group increased significantly compared with healthy and ordinary pneumonia group,while their LVEF and LVFS decreased significantly(Pa

Ferulic acid (FA) was loaded into liposomes via calcium acetate gradient with (80.2 +/- 5.2)% entrapment efficiency. The average sizes of blank liposome and FA liposome were about 155 nm and 154 nm, respectively. The zeta potential of blank liposome and FA liposome were (13.14 +/- 1.67) mV and (4.12 +/- 0.05) mV, respectively. Unilamellar vesicles were present in freeze-fracture electron microscopy. In the pharmacodynamic studies, the protective effect of liposomal ferulic acid on tBHP-challenged U937 cells was measured with the morphology of cell injury, mitochondrial transmembrane potential alternation and cell viability assay used as index. The results of MTT assay, microscopy indicated that FA liposomes exhibited greater antioxidant activity than FA solution on U937 cell.

Objective To study the expression patterns of Th1 and Th2 cytokine genes in childhood acute idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura(ITP) and its clinical value.Methods Peripheral blood samples from 30 patients with acute ITP before and after treatment (ITP group) and those from 20 normal healthy subjects (healthy control group) were collected (healthy control group),and reverse transcriptases polymerase chain reaction was performed to determine the mRNA expressions of Th1 and Th2 cytokine genes before and after treatment,which were compared with those of the health controls.Results The positive rate of expression levels of Th1 cytokine genes in samples from ITP patients (3.3％,3.3％) were significantly lower than those from healthy control group (all P ＜ 0.05) and increased to normal level after treatment(16.7％,23.3％).In contrast,Th2 cytokine genes (IL-4,IL-6,IL-10)in the samples from the ITP patients(33.3％,43.3％,40.0％) were significantly higher than those from the healthy control group (all P ＜0.05) and decreased after treatment(10.0％,23.3％,20.0％).Conclusions Such data indicate that ITP is a Th2 cell predominant autoimmune disease,and the abnormal immunity due to Th1/Th2 shift is significant in the pathogenesis of ITP.

Objective To evaluate the use of gated SPECT in patients with hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy (HOCM) and the effects of percutaneous transluminal septal myocardial ablation (PTSMA) on myocardial perfusion.Methods 99 Tcm-methoxyisobutylisonitrile (MIBI) and 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) images were performed in 31 HOCM patients before PFSMA and in 15 patients 3-7 d after PTSMA.The images in different left ventricular segments were analysed by using scores.Results In 99Tcm-MIBI images, uptake decreased at the septal regions in 12 HOCM patients (80.0%, 12/15) after PTSMA, 18F-FDG images also showed decreased uptake at the septal regions in 5 HOCM patients (33.3%, 5/15) after PTSMA.Conclusion 99Tcm-MIBI images might be an important method to evaluate PTSMA results, and 18 F-FDG images showed important value as reference.
