To explore the safety and efficacy of left atrial appendage (LAA) occlusion under the guidance of local anesthesia and modified transseptal puncture technology by coronary sinus assisted positioning in patients with nonvavular atrial fibrillation (NVAF). Methods: A total of 16 NVAF patients received local anesthesia and percutaneous LAmbre or Amplatzer cardiac plug occluder implantation. There were 12 males and the patients mean age was at (71.0±6.0) years with CHA2DS2-VASc score at (4.1±1.5); all patients had walfarin contradiction or with walfarin related side effect. Transseptal puncture was conducted by coronary sinus catheter as the anatomic location marker. Results: All 16 patients finished transseptal puncture and no relevant complication occurred. 15/16 (93.8%) patients had successful LAA occlusion, 1 patient was abandoned because of LAA anatomic structure variation. The mean operative time was (65.0±23.0) min and the mean X-ray exposure time was (12.0±3.0) min. The mean diameter of occluder was (32.5±6.0)mm. Conclusion: LAA occlusion was safe and effective with local anesthesia and modified transseptal puncture technology by coronary sinus assisted positioning in relevant patients.

The quality markers (Q-markers) of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) have become a topic of interest in TCM research in recent years. Nonetheless, there is still no consensus on how to scientifically characterize TCM Q-markers. Our study establishes an identification method for TCM Q-markers based on the analytical hierarchy process (AHP) and the entropy weight comprehensive method. By constructing an evaluation system encompassing the target layer, the factor layer and the control layer, AHP can be used to analyze the weight of three core TCM quality attributes, including effectiveness, testability and specificity. Following that, the entropy weight method is employed to analyze the specific indicators for each attribute based on the literature and experimental data. Finally, the comprehensive weight of each index is obtained by combining the two weights, and the comprehensive weight and the specific value of each component is multiplied and summed to obtain the integrated score ranking, and thereby identify the TCM Q-markers. Taking Shaoyao Gancao decoction as an example, the analysis revealed that the top 8 components are as follows: paeoniflorin > quercetin > albiflorin > glycyrrhizic acid > naringenin > liquiritin > oxypaeoniflorin > benzoylpaeoniflorin, and can be identified as Q-markers of Shaoyao Gancao decoction. This study not only provides support for the establishment of quality standards and process quality control of TCM formulae, but also provides innovative ideas and methods for quantitative evaluation and accurate identification of TCM Q-markers.

OBJECTIVETo identify the predisposing factors of deep neck abscess and review diagnosis and treatment experience.
METHODSA respective review was conducted in 50 cases who were diagnosed as having deep neck abscess in this hospital from Jan. 1997 to Dec. 2002.
RESULTSThe causes of deep neck abscess were tooth diseases (3 cases), acute tonsillitis and laryngitis (8 cases), infection of upper respiratory tract (9 cases), foreign bodies in esophagus (14 cases), diabetes mellitus (5 cases), uncertain cause (11 cases). Among 21 cases of pus bacterial cultivation, 13 (64%) cases were positive. By different ways of drainage including neck-mediastinum incision, and use of large dosage of antibiotics, 46 six cases were cured and 4 cases died. Two died of massive hemorrhage of neck blood vessel burst, one massive hemorrhage of upper digestive tract, another infective shock.
CONCLUSIONSOnce deep neck abscess is diagnosed, early surgical drainage, appropriate use of antibiotics and control of complications and accompanying diseases are very important to improve the cure rate.

OBJECTIVETo investigate clinicopathological features of DiGeorge syndrome (DGS).
METHODThe clinical features, histological and immunohistochemical findings were analyzed in 5 cases of DGS by autopsy.
RESULTSFive cases of DGS in male infants aged 4 days, 1 month, 7 months, 10 months, and 13 months respectively. Gross and microscopic observations revealed that thymic cortex was depleted of lymphocytes or showed few, dispersed lymphocytes. The thymic medulla showed predominantly epithelial cells with calcified Hassall bodies as well as lymphocyte depletion. T lymphocytes were also scarce in the tonsils, lymph nodes, spleen, and mucosa-associated lymphatic tissue of ileum. In addition, 3 of the 5 patients also showed parathyroid aplasia or dysplasia, and congenital hypertrophy of the ventricular septum.
CONCLUSIONSThe pathological changes indicate that clinicians should be aware of defects of immune system if the infants suffer from severe infections. Pathologists should recognize the importance of abnormalities of lymphohematopoietic tissues in the diagnosis of primary immunodeficiency diseases such as DGS.

·AIM: To investigate tear film changes in children after acute conjunctivitis were treated. ·METHODS:A perspective cohort study was conducted. Sixty-four acute conjunctivitis cases (64 unilateral eyes) from January 2016 to January 2017 were investigated in this study. Other tear film factors which could affect the conditions of dry eye were excluded. The height of tear meniscus, fluorescein staining (FL), tear film break up time (BUT) and Schirmer I test (S I t) were checked and measured on both recovered eye and healthy eye of the patients at 3, 7, 14 and 30d after recovery, respectively. ·RESULTS: The height of tear meniscus was 0.43 ± 0.18mm in healthy eyes, 0.25 ± 0.11mm, 0.23 ± 0.13mm, 0.34 ± 0.26mm in cured eyes at 3, 7 and 14d, all significantly lower than that in healthy eyes(t= -24.364,-24.042, -8.398,P<0.05),but that at 30d(0.44±0.06mm) was not different(t=1.987,P>0.05). FL scored 1.27±0.96 in healthy eyes, those of cured eyes were 2.13±0.75,5.56 ±2.28,4.21±0.91 at 3,7 and 14d,significantly higher than that in healthy eyes (t=6.437, 18.303, 20.386; P<0.05);but that at 30d was 1.81±2.13 without difference (t=1.44, P>0.05). BUT was 13.33 ± 2.75s in healthy eyes, those of cured eyes were 5.46±0.9s,6.34±1.75s,7.72±1.77s at 3,7 and 14d,significantly lower than that in healthy eyes (t=-50.731, -50.522, -38.706; P<0.05); but that at 30d was 12.07±2.23s without difference (t=-1.470,P>0.05). SIT was 14.07±3.84mm/5min in healthy eyes, those of cured eyes were 8.03±1.79,11.28±2.33,12.59±2.56mm/5min at 3,7 and 14d,significantly lower than that in healthy eyes (t=-20.892,-9.104,-6.710;P<0.05);but that at 30d was 13.57 ± 3.46mm/5min without difference (t= -0.969, P>0.05). ·CONCLUSION: The short-term tear film instability and reversible dry eye might be arisen in children after acute conjunctivitis recovery. Considering the drug side effects to the tear film and minimizing the unnecessary use of drugs, however, dry eye can be avoided during the treatment of acute conjunctivitis. At the same time, the artificial tears could function to reduce the occurrence of xerophthalmia.

OBJECTIVE:
To study the cognitive neural mechanism of working memory impairment in children with primary nocturnal enuresis using event-related potential (ERP).
METHODS:
A total of 14 children with primary nocturnal enuresis were enrolled as enuresis group, and 14 normal children were enrolled as control group. The learning-recognition task test was applied, and the ERP components (P2, N2, and P3) at Fz lead while identifying old pictures (learned) and new ones (unlearned) were measured and compared between the two groups.
RESULTS:
While identifying the old pictures, the enuresis group had a lower amplitude of P2 and N2 than the control group (P<0.05). There were no significant differences between the two groups in the latency of P2, N2, and P3 and the amplitude of P3. While identifying the new pictures, the enuresis group had a longer latency of P2 and a significantly lower amplitude of N2 than the control group (P<0.05). There were no significant differences between the two groups in the amplitude of P2 and P3 and the latency of N2 and P3.
CONCLUSIONS
Compared with normal children, the children with primary nocturnal enuresis have reduced abilities of classified information extraction, a prolonged reaction time, and reductions in memory capacity, memory consolidation, and conflict monitoring, which causes working memory impairment.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the association between anxiety-depression and 5-HTTLPR gene polymorphism in school-aged twins.
METHODSA total of 147 pairs of twins (47 pairs of monozygotic twins, 100 pairs of dizygotic twins) aged 8-12 years from Baotou and Hohhot were selected as respondents. The Achenbach Child Behavior Checklist (CBCL) was used to calculate the scores of anxiety-depression factors in school-aged twins. The DNA was extracted from oral epithelial cells, and polymerase chain reaction was applied for 5-HTTLPR genotyping. The generalized estimating equation (GEE) was used to analyze the effect of 5-HTTLPR polymorphism and family environment on anxiety-depression in school-aged twins.
RESULTSThe children with LS and SS genotypes had significantly higher scores of anxiety-depression factors than those with LL genotype (χ2=3.938, P<0.05). The interaction of 5-HTTLPR genotype with family cohesion and family rearing patterns had a significant impact on the scores of anxiety-depression factors in twins (χ2=6.129 and 7.665, both P<0.05).
CONCLUSIONS5-HTTLPR genotype is significantly correlated with the scores of anxiety-depression factors in school-aged twins. In the family with high cohesion and an autocratic family rearing pattern, S allele may increase the possibility of anxiety-depression in twin children.

OBJECTIVETo observe the effects of Shenqifuxin oral liquid(SQFXOL) on plasma kaliuretic peptide (KP), atrial natriuretic polypeptide(ANP), angiotension II (Ang II), endothelin(ET) and the left ventricular remodeling and the myocardial contractility and relaxation of left ventricle in experimental rats with heart failure(HF).
METHODThe SD rat model with HF was produced by constricting abdominal aorta. Hemodynamic parameters including maximum rate of intraventricular pressure rise (+dp/dtmax), left ventricular systolic pressure(LVSP), maximum velocity of contractile element shortening(Vmax), maximum rate of intraventricular pressure down(-dp/dtmax) and left ventricular end diastolic pressure(LVEDP) were measured by the method of the catheterization. Plasma concentrations of KP, ANP, Ang II and ET were determined by radioimmunoassays. The effects of treatment were evaluated by observing and comparing the changes of heart morphological structure, collagen element, heart weight/body weight ratio (HW/BW), left intraventricular area(LVA) and myocardial nuclei number (MNN) per square area.
RESULTIn high dose SQFXOL group, the LVSP, -dp/dtmax and Vmax were increased, while LVEDP was decreased, and plasma concentrations of KP, Ang II and ET were decreased. In comparision with those in model group, the difference was significant(P < 0.05 or P < 0.01). Though the +dp/dtmax and the level of ANP were decreased, the difference was insignificant(all P > 0.05). The collagen tissues around myocardial cells were reduced. HW/BW and LVA were lower, and MNN per square area was higher significantly (P < 0.05 or P < 0.01). The indices of +dp/dtmax in all of treatment groups and control group were not considerably different in comparison with those in model group. The levels of plasma ANP in middle dose group and low dose group were significantly lower than those in model group(all P < 0.01).
CONCLUSIONSQFXOL can reduce the plasma concentrations of KP, Ang II, ET, and ANP, improve the myocardial contractility and relaxation of left ventricular and inhibitate left ventricular remodeling in rats with HF.
