Objective To evaluate MRI or CT appearance and clinicopathologic features of dysembryoplastic neuroepithelial tumor (DNT). Methods MRI or CT appearance and clinicopathologic features in 12 cases of histopathology confirmed DNT were retrospectively studied. Results There were 6 men and 6 women, and the age ranged from 12 to 68 years with the average age of 36.7 years. Most patients had partial seizures, but the neurological deficits were absent. All lesions were located in the supratentorial region and involved the cerebral cortex on MRI scan. Localization of lesions was predominantly in the frontal (n=4) and temporal (n=3) lobes. The maximum lesion diameter ranged in size from 2 cm to 5 cm, and the lesion showed round, lobular- or irregular-shaped. The white matter was involved in 2 cases, and 7 were with cystic change (58.3%). All lesions were hypointense on T1-weighted images and hyperintense on T2-weighted images as well as devoid of peritumoral edema or mass effect. MRI signal intensity of cystic lesions was homogeneous on T1-weighted images which was equal to or slightly higher than that of cerebrospinal fluid. CT scan of 6 cases disclosed moderately hypodense lesion, 2 of which were markedly hypodense cystic-lobular shaped, and foci of calcification was observed in 1 case. Contrast enhancement was absent in 4 cases and only 1 case showed slight enhancement unevenly. Histologically, the DNT were classified into three subtypes: simple form (n=4), complex form (n=6), and non-specific variant (n=2). All patients experienced lesion gross total or subtotal surgical removal, and had received no chemo- or radiotherapy postoperatively. Conclusion DNT is a benign lesion, and its characterization is better disclosed by MRI compared to CT scan.

OBJECTIVE To observe the regulation effect of chidamide on energy metabolism in HCT-8 and HT-29 cells. METHODS HCT-8 and HT-29 cells were treated with chidamide 5,10 and 20 μmol · L-1. Morphological changes of these cells were observed under an ordinary optical microscope. Cell proliferation was detected by MTT. ATP production was determined by CellTiter-Glo? assay kit. Metabolic changes were tested by glycolytic stress kit. The mRNA level of lactate dehydrogenase A (LDH-A)was analyzed by real-time quantitative PCR,whereas the protein level of LDH-A was analyzed by Western blotting. RESULTS Compared with control group, cell morphology of HCT-8 and HT-29 cells in chidamide treated group was irregular, accompanied by deformation, shrinkage and cell debris, and the inhibitory rate of proliferation increased(P<0.05). There was no significant difference in ATP total content between chidamide 5 and 10 μmol · L-1 16 h treatment groups, but in chidamide 20 μmol · L-1 treatment group it was decreased(P<0.05). Chidamide 20μmol · L-1 had no effect on oxygen consumption rate, but glycolysis ATP generation rate was reduced by 30.7% and 37.9%(P<0.05),respectively. Chidamide 20μmol · L-1 had no effect on LDH-A mRNA level, but it decreased the protein level of LDH-A(P<0.01). CONCLUSION Chidamide can abate the respiratory metabolic ability of HCT-8 and HT-29 cells. The mechanism may be related to the down-regulation of LDH-A.

Objective To investigate current status of narcotic analgesic use in patients with cancer pain in our hospital, in order to promote the rationalization of prescribing narcotic drugs and the rational use of analgesics. Methods A total of 400 narcotic prescriptions ( 100 of outpatients and 300 of inpatients ) in Tongji hospital were randomly selected from March to May in 2014.Basic index and consumption of anesthetic drugs, money consumption distribution on different tumor types, and unreasonable prescription were analyzed. Results The overall prevalence of irrational prescriptions was 11. 00%, with 13.00% from inpatient and 10. 33% from outpatient, respectively. Reasons for irrational prescriptions mainly included vague instructions on dosage and administration, incomplete clinical diagnosis, lack of pharmacist check and inappropriate dosage. In the basic indexes, proportions of reasonable prescription and drugs within the national formulary were higher in the inpatient than in the outpatient service. The average money consumption of outpatient prescription was significantly higher than that of inpatient prescription. Most types of diagnosis were lung cancer in outpatient and inpatient departments, and total cost of lung cancer drugs was the highest.Morphine hydrochloride of outpatient had the highest average consumption, followed by codeine phosphate of the outpatient and the inpatient, and oxycodone hydrochloride controlled-release tablets cost more in inpatient. Conclusion The narcotic analgesic used in our hospital is basically rational. Most doctors prescribe according to the guidelines, but standardized training of prescription for cancer patients with pain medication needs to be strengthened, and supervision of narcotic analgesic medication should be enhanced.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the effects of butyl alcohol extract of baitouweng decoction (BAEB) on the fungal cell surface hydrophobicity (CSH), filamentation and biofilm formation of Candida tropicalis.
METHODGradual dilution method was used to determine the MIC. XTT assay was applied to determine the SMIC80. Time-Kill assay was employed to draw the Time-Kill curve. The water-hydrocarbon two-phase assay was used to measure the cell surface hydrophobicity. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) was applied to observe the morphological changes of the biofilm. Confocal laser scanning microscopy (CLSM) was applied to determine the thickness of the biofilm. The quantification real-time PCR (qRT-PCR) was used to detect expression changes of releated genes (UME6, ALST3 and NRG1). result: The MICs of BAEB against C. tropicalis strains are determined as 64-128 mg x L(-1). The SMIC80 s of BAEB against the biofilm of Candida tropicalis strains are determined as 256-512 mg x L(-1). Time-Kill curve results indicate that BAEB has a promise fungicidal effect at 256 and 512 mg x L(-1). SEM results shows that 512 mg x L(-1) BAEB can inhibit the formation of C. tropicalis biofilm on Silicone catheter, and the morphology of biofilm is also affected by BAEB. The thickness of C. tropicalis biofilm is reduced by BAEB according to CLSM results. Furthermore, qRT-PCR results indicate that expression of UME6 and ALST3 are significantly down-regulated by BAEB 256,512 mg x L(-1), and NRG1 is not affected by BAEB.
CONCLUSIONBAEB inhibits effectively the CSH, filamentation and biofilm formation of VVC strains of C. tropicalis.

OBJECTIVETo study the pollution status of Legionella species in hot spring vacation center and the related factors.
METHODSField surveys were performed in four big hot spring vacation centers of Changping district. Uniform questionnaires was used and colony count was made together with the isolation of Legionella species from hot spring water based on mip gene typing.
RESULTS47 isolates of Legionella pneumophila (Lp) from 87 samples showed 4 serotypes as Lp1, Lp6, Lp12, Lp5 with percent of 57.45%, 21.28%, 14.89%, 6.38% respectively. The hot spring centers controlled the temperature of recycled water between 34-47 degrees C by hot water heating and filtrating system. All the isolates were cultured from the hot water with temperature between 34-44 degrees C: 56.75% (21/37) in high temperature (40-47 degrees C) and 61.90% (26/42) in low temperature (34-39.9 degrees C). There were no statistically significant difference between the high and the low temperature samples (P > 0.05). In the four hot spring vacation centers, the pH value was under control at 6.4-7.3 and the ambient temperature was under control between 26-28 degrees C. The humidity was controlled between 56% -69% relative humidity, which were the best growing conditions for the Legionella species. Disinfectors as chlorine deviratives was used in the four hot spring vacation centers. Though the concentration of chlorine in the water was 0.3-0.5 mg/L, 14.29%-48.00% of the samples were still positive of having Legionella species.
CONCLUSIONThe pollution of Legionella species was considered to be quite serious in the four hot spring vacation centers and the predominant serotype was Lp1. The pH and temperature of the hot spring water, ambient temperature and humidity and the way of heating up the water were the best conditions for the growth of Legionella species in these centers. Because of the high temperature of the hot spring water, chlorine of the disinfector volatilized quickly, affecting the effect of disinfection. The result revealed that water temperature achieving 44 degrees C could have had the effect of prevention.
