A canine distemper virus strain was isolated from the lung of dog coming from Aksu in Xing Jiang using lung primary M cell during the CDV molecular epidemiological study. It was demonstrated to be a virulent strain of CDV by a series of systematic identification such as morphology , serology neutralization test, canine infection test, and molecular virology test.
2.The lipid-regulating effects of atorvastatin on type 2 elder diabetes patients with hyperlipidemia.

To investigate the effect of atorvastatin on lipid metabolism in type 2 elder diabetes patients with hyperlipidemia, 26 patients with type 2 elder diabetes complicated with hyperlipidemia were treated with atorvastatin (10 mg/d) for 8 weeks. The serum triglyceride (TG), high density protein cholesterol (HDL-C) and low density protein cholesterol (LDL-C) were measured before and after the treatment. Meanwhile, the non-denaturing polyacrylamide gradient gel electrophoresis was used for detection of small-sized LDL(SLDL). Our results showed that TG dropped from 4.88 +/- 0.72 mmol/L to 2.65 +/- 0.32 mmol/L; HDL-C was increased from 0.85 +/- 0.31 mmol/L to 1.28 +/- 0.29 mmol/L; LDL-C was declined from 3.71 +/- 2.98 mmol/L to 2.10 +/- 1.22 mmol/L, sLDL-A was increased from (42.49 +/- 8.1)% to (53.27 +/- 7.5)%; LDL-B was decreased from (57.91 +/- 8.1)% to (46.73 +/- 7.5% ) (P<0.05). The level of blood glucose was not changed at the end of 8th week. It is concluded that atorvastatin has satisfactory lipid-regulating effects on type 2 elder diabetes patients with hyperlipidemia.

METHODSWe divided 32 male SD infant rats into four groups of equal number to be treated intragastrical-system of male infant rats. ly with distilled water (control) and CTW at 10 g/kg (low dose) , 20 g/kg (medium dose), and 40 g/kg (high dose), respectively, twice a day for 2 weeks. Then we killed the rats, measured the levels of testosterone (T), luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) in the serum, obtained the testis weight, body weight, testis visceral coefficient and sperm concentration, and detected sperm viability, sperm motility and the level of cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP) in the Leydig cells, followed by
RESULTSCompared with the control group, the low-dose, me-analysis of differences among different groups using the SPSS software. Medium-dose and high-dose CTW groups showed significant decreases in the serum T level ([3.09 +/-0.42] vs [1.22 +/-0. 32] , [1.06 +/- 0.29] and [0.57 +/-0.18] nmol/L, P<0.01), testis weight ([1.40 +/-0.16] vs [0.96 +/-0.09], [0.92 +/-0.11] and [0.91 +/- 0.08] g, P <0.01), and sperm concentration ([1.03 +/-0.16] vs [0.19 +/-0.07], [0.17 +/-0.08] and [0.16 +/-0.07] x 10(6)/ml, P <0.01), but a dramatic elevation in the testis visceral coefficient ([42.22 +/- 3.02] vs [51.39 +/- 3.09], [52.28 +/- 4.86] and [54.13 +/-6.06] mg/10 g, P <0.01); the medium- and high-dose CTW groups exhibited remarkable increases in the levels of serum LH ([13.62+/-0.89] vs [14.69 +/-0.12] and [14.93 +/-0.28] ng/L, P<0.01) and FSH ([4.32 +/-0.18] vs [4.77 +/-0.23] and [4.89 +/-0. 38] IU/L, P <0.05); all the three CTW groups showed markedly inhibited serum T secretion ([1.85 +/- 0.18] vs [1.42 +/-0.15], [1.12+/-0.18] and [0.88 +/-0.21] nmol/L, P<0.01) and intracellular cAMP ([5.51 +/-0.12] vs [4.39+/-0.06], [4.28 +/-0.07] and [4.11 +/- 0.10] nmol/L, P <0.01) in the Leydig cells.
CONCLUSIONThe water extract from CTW may reduce the synthesis of testosterone in the serum of male infant rats through the PKA pathway and consequently inhibit their testicular development and sperm production and affect the development of their reproductive system.

4.Exploration on Compatibility of Herbs for Nourishing Yin in Formulas of Kidney-yang Tonification

To explore the compatibility characteristics of herbs used for nourishing yin in formulas of kidney-yang tonifica-tion.It is noticed that the appearance frequency of such herbs for yin nourishment as Radix Rehmanniae Praeparata,Rhizoma Dioscoreae,Fructus Corni and Fructus Lycii comes out on the top.Either the dosage ratio or the number of herbs of yin nour-ishment in the modern formulas for tonifying kidney yang is evidently increased than that of the ancient formulas,with the ap-plication scope being expanded.Hence,it is believed that compatibility of herbs for nourishing yin in formulas of kidney-yang tonification has become a major compatibility form in the clinical practice.When deficiency of kidney essence is obvious,the dosage of herbs for nourishing yin should be increased.While when the internal generation of deficient cold takes a dominant place,the dosage should be decreased,which is able to provide a reference for the reasonable application of formulas for kidney-yang tonification in clinical practice.
5.High-frequency ultrasound imaging-guided wedge resection for the treatment of paraurethral duct dilatation following gonococcal paraurethral duct infection in 11 male patients

Objective To evaluate therapeutic effects of wedge resection on male paraurethral duct dilatation following gonococcal paraurethral duct infection. Methods With the aid of high-frequency ultrasound images, 11 male patients with paraurethral duct dilatation following gonococcal paraurethral duct infection were treated with wedge resection. The data were collected, including the surgical duration, amount of bleeding during the surgery, period of wound healing and complications. If the ostium beside the external urethral orifice disappeared within 4 weeks after the surgery, there was no discharge from the ostium with pressure, and no tubular echoic area was observed by high-frequency ultrasound imaging, the patient was considered to be recovered. If none of the above three conditions could be met, the surgical treatment was considered to be ineffective. Results The average surgical duration was 19.19 ± 2.71 minutes(range, 14-23 minutes), the average amount of bleeding during the surgery was 11.09 ± 2.07 ml (range, 8-14 ml), and the average period of wound healing was 14.91 ± 1.45 days(range, 13-17 days). Of the 11 patients, 10 were cured, and 1 showed no response. No complications were observed in any of the 11 patients, and no defects formed in the glans penis. Conclusion Wedge resection is a kind of effective therapy for paraurethral duct dilatation following gonococcal paraurethral duct infection in males.

7.Comparison of high-frequency ultrasound imaging and 3.0 T magnetic resonance imaging for the examination of males with gonococcal inflammation of paraurethral glands

Objective To investigate the morphologic characteristics of gonococcal inflammation of paraurethral glands in males. Methods Eleven male patients with gonococcal inflammation of paraurethral glands were examined by both real-time ultrasound imaging (Siemens Acuson X300) and 3.0 T magnetic resonance imaging (MRI, Philips Achieva). Results High-frequency ultrasound imaging revealed tubular echoic areas with well-defined borders and smooth margins in all the patients. The inside of these tubular areas was weak-echoic. These tubular echoic areas were blind in one end, but open in the other end, and ran in parallel with the urethra. The mean lumen diameter was 1.1 ± 0.2 mm (range, 0.7 - 1.3 mm) , and the mean lumen length was 8.4 ± 0.6 mm (range, 7.0 - 12.0 mm). Anechoic liquid-filled areas were seen in the tubular echoic areas in two patients. Paraurethral ducts were not detected by 3.0 T MRI in these patients. Conclusions High-frequency ultrasound imaging can clearly show the morphologic characteristics of gonococcal inflammation of paraurethral glands in males, and provide valuable ultrasound images for surgery.
8.Clinical analysis of influence factors of neonatal necrotizing enterocolitis

Objective To investigate influence factors on neonatal necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC) and find a preventive way against the said disorder. Methods A retrospective study was conducted of 63 cases NEC (observation group) and 70 cases non-NEC (control group) admitted to the neonatal intensive care units (NICU) of two hospitals from January 2010 to May 2014. The cases were grouped in 29 factors. The individual factors of 28 out of the 29 factors were analy-sised with SAS 9.1 statistical software, and the screened important factors were investigated by logistic regression. Re-sults The ratios of 4 factors, application of prenatal corticosteroids, breast feeding prior to the ailment, oral probiotics and hyperbilirubinemia in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, while the ratios of 14 factors were higher than those in the control group, premature rupture of membrane, asphyxia, respiratory distress syndrome, respiratory failure, umbilical venous catheters, oxygen uptake, sepsis, septic shock, disseminated intravascular coagula-tion (DIC), congenital heart disease, scleredema, hyponatremia, hypocalcaemia and transfusion. The differences of fac-tors mentioned were of statistic significance (P<0.05), while the differences of other factors were not statistically signifi-cant between the two groups (P>0.05). Logistic regression analysis indicated that breast feeding, oral probiotics and hy-perbilirubinemia were protective factors against NEC; while sepsis, congenital heart disease and transfusion were major factors that lead to NEC. Conclusion NEC resulted from a combination of multiple factors, with sepsis, congenital heart disease and transfusion as the leading ones. Breast feeding, oral probiotics, and non-excessive curing against hyper-bilirubinemia will help reduce the incidence of NEC.
9.mRNA levels detected by real-time quantitative RT-PCR in chronic lymphocytic leukemia and their clinical significance.

This study was aimed to investigate the expression level of murine double minute 4 (MDM4) mRNA in chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) and its prognostic value in CLL. By means of β-actin as internal reference, the real-time quantitative RT-PCR was set up. The expression of MDM4 mRNA in 66 CLL patients was measured by fluorescence dye SYBR Green I. The dispersion of MDM4 expression ratio of groups with different prognostic factors was described by using Mann-Whitney U test. The results showed that the median MDM4 mRNA expression level was 0.037098 (0.088245-0.014875) in CLL patients. The expression level of MDM4 mRNA was significantly higher in patients with P53 gene deletion than that in patients without P53 gene deletion (0.13167 vs 0.030927) (p < 0.001), and also significantly higher in patients with P53 mutation than that in patients without P53 mutation (0.13167 vs 0.03077) (p < 0.001). MDM4 expression was also associated with Binet stages (p = 0.044) and ATM gene deletion (p = 0.046), but was not associated with LDH (p = 0.216), β(2)-MG (p = 0.314), TK1 (p = 0.300), ZAP-70 (p = 0.559), CD38 (p = 0.513) and IgVH mutation status (p = 0.333). It is concluded that the expression level of MDM4 is significantly higher in patients with P53 deletion or mutation. MDM4 expression is significantly associated with Binet stages and ATM gene deletion. MDM4 may be an important prognostic factor in CLL.

10.Surgical treatment of symptomatic Rathke's cleft cysts: clinical features, therapy considerations and outcomes.

BACKGROUNDRathke's cleft cyst (RCC) is one of the most common incidentally discovered sellar lesions, while symptomatic cases are relatively rare. Surgical treatment is recommended for symptomatic patients to drain the cyst content and to remove the capsule safely. The aim of this study was to clarify the clinical features, surgery considerations and therapy outcomes of symptomatic RCCs.
METHODSTotally 42 patients (19 males and 23 females) were retrospectively reviewed with the diagnosis of RCCs under surgery resection at the Affiliated Hospital of Medical College, Qingdao University between January 2005 and December 2010.
RESULTSPatients' age ranged from 6 to 67 years (mean of 41.6 years). The duration of symptoms ranged from 4 days to 10 years. Headache (69%), visual impairment (36%), and pituitary dysfunction (10%) were the most common presenting symptoms. The maximum diameter of cysts ranged from 6.0 to 46.7 mm (mean of 20.07 mm). Of the 42 patients, 36 underwent endonasal transsphenoidal approach and the others underwent transcranial approach. Thirty patients had a subtotal resection and decompression, while 12 patients had a total cyst resection. Cysts of 28 patients were lined by simple cubical or columnar epithelium, and cysts of 34 patients were filled by amorphous colloid material, that was the characteristic of RCCs. The majority of patients presented with a simple headache, and 93% of this group experienced a complete improvement after surgery. Twelve of 15 patients (80%) with preoperative visual deficits experienced an improvement in their vision after surgery. All of those patients with pituitary dysfunction experienced an improved endocrine status. The endocrinological complication usually was diabetes insipidus, and postoperative transient diabetes insipidus occurred in 13 (31%) patients without any permanent diabetes insipidus. The overall recurrence rate was 7% at a mean follow-up of 22 months (range 12 - 60 months).
CONCLUSIONSSurgical treatment is to drain the contents of the cyst and to remove the capsule as much as possible under the precondition that does not increase the complications. Biopsy and decompression procedures are recommended for most cases.
