OBJECTIVE:
To assess the long-term clinical efficacy of endoscopic surgery of primary sinonasal malignant neoplasms and find out the potential postoperative prognostic factors.
METHOD:
Forty-three clinical cases of primary sinonasal malignant neoplasms treated under endoscopy were analyzed retrospectively.
RESULT:
Fifteen patients died. The 1-year, 2-year, 3-year and 5-year survival rates were 83. 7% (36/43), 74. 4% (32/43), 69. 8% (30/43) and 65. 1% (28/43), respectively. Kaplan-Meier single-variable analysis showed that gender, T grade, TNM stage and pathological types of olfactory neuroblastoma were statistically significant prognostic factors (P< 0. 05). COX Pro-Portional hazard models showed that TNM stage was an independent prognostic factors.
CONCLUSION
Endoscopic surgery for primary sinonasal malignant neoplasms is a safe and effective minimally invasive surgical treatment, and it is an important supplement to the traditional surgery. Gender, T grade, TNM stage and pathological types of olfactory neuroblastoma might be significant prognostic factors.

Genomics, Proteomics & Bioinformatics 2021;19(2):267-281
Annotating cell types is a critical step in single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) data analysis. Some supervised or semi-supervised classification methods have recently emerged to enable automated cell type identification. However, comprehensive evaluations of these methods are lacking. Moreover,it is not clear whether some classification methods originally designed for ana-lyzing other bulk omics data are adaptable to scRNA-seq analysis. In this study,we evaluated ten cell type annotation methods publicly available as R packages.Eight of them are popular methods developed specifically for single-cell research, including Seurat,scmap,SingleR,CHETAH,Sin-gleCellNet,scID,Garnett,and SCINA.The other two methods were repurposed from deconvolut-ing DNA methylation data,i.e.,linear constrained projection (CP) and robust partial correlations(RPC).We conducted systematic comparisons on a wide variety of public scRNA-seq datasets as well as simulation data.We assessed the accuracy through intra-dataset and inter-dataset predic-tions;the robustness over practical challenges such as gene filtering, high similarity among cell types, and increased cell type classes;as well as the detection of rare and unknown cell types.Over-all,methods such as Seurat,SingleR,CP,RPC,and SingleCellNet performed well, with Seurat being the best at annotating major cell types.Additionally,Seurat,SingleR,CP,and RPC were more robust against downsampling. However,Seurat did have a major drawback at predicting rare cell populations, and it was suboptimal at differentiating cell types highly similar to each other, compared to SingleR and RPC.All the code and data are available from https://github.com/qian-huiSenn/scRNA_ cell_ deconv_benchmark.

Two new SAM-dependent methyltransferase encoding genes (fvsmt1 and fvsmt2) were identified from the genome of Flammulina velutipes. In order to make a comprehensive characterization of both genes, we performed in silico analysis of both genes and used qRT-PCR to reveal their expression patterns during the development of F. velutipes. There are 4 and 6 exons with total length of 693 and 978 bp in fvsmt2 and fvsmt1, respectively. The deduced proteins, i.e., FVSMT1 and FVSMT2 contained 325 and 230 amino acids with molecular weight 36297 and 24894 Da, respectively. Both proteins contained a SAM-dependent catalytic domain with signature motifs (I, p-I, II, and III) defining the SAM fold. SAM-dependent catalytic domain is located either in the middle or at the N-terminal of FVSMT2 and FVSMT1, respectively. Alignment and phylogenic analysis showed that FVSMT1 is a homolog to a protein–arginine omega-N-methyltransferase, while FVSMT2 is of cinnamoyl CoA O-methyltransferase type and predicted subcellular locations of these proteins are mitochondria and cytoplasm, respectively. qRT-PCR showed that fvsmt1 and fvsmt2 expression was regulated in different developmental stages. The maximum expression levels of fvsmt1 and fvsmt2 were observed in stipe elongation, while no difference was found in mycelium and pileus. These results positively demonstrate that both the methyltransferase encoding genes are involved in the stipe elongation of F. velutipes.

BACKGROUND: Insufficient bone mass in the posterior maxilla region often increases the difficulty of dental implantation. The application of maxillary sinus floor elevation successfully solves this problem. In the surgery bone grafting can be used to obtain sufficient bone mass. However, nonuse of graft materials can shorten the cycle of patient's treatment and reduce trauma and cost. OBJECTIVE: Combining the latest relevant research trends, to review the advances in the study of maxillary sinus floor elevation with and without bone grafting. METHODS: The first author searched PubMed, VIP, WanFang and CNKI databases using computer for relevant articles published from January 1985 to August 2018. The key words were "dental implant, maxillary sinus, bone augmentation, bone substitute" in English and Chinese, respectively. Finally, 78 articles were included in result analysis after screening and summarizing. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: Ideal results can be achieved in the maxillary sinus floor elevation with or without simultaneous bone grafting In addition, the nonuse of grafting materials have the advantages of simplifying surgical procedures, shortening treatment cycles, reducing trauma and pain, reducing treatment costs, reducing complications and failure rates, thus gaining the favor of doctors and patients. Therefore, the maxillary sinus floor elevation without simultaneous bone grafting will be the primary choice of the doctors engaged in dental implantation in the future.

OBJECTIVE:
To explore the killing effect of pAdKDR-tk/GCV suicide gene therapy system combined with 60Co radiotherapy on human nasopharyngeal carcinoma in vivo.
METHOD:
The pAdKDR-tk/GCV suicide gene therapy system and 60Co radiotherapy were used separately or in combination for human nasopharyngeal carcinoma in vivo to compare their effects. The tumor growth curve and inhibition rate of tumor to the cure effects of the combination of the pAdKDR-tk/GCV suicide gene therapy system and 60Co radiotherapy.
RESULT:
The inhibition rate of gene therapy alone and radiotherapy alone in curing the transplanted tumor in nude mouse subcutaneously was 58.43% and 70.88% respectively, and the combined application of gene therapy and radiotherapy exhibited stronger therapeutic effects (the inhibition rate was 84.39%, P<0.01), the mean tumor volume of the combination group was only 13.5% of the mean tumor volume of compared group, and it was obviously lower than the mean tumor volume of gene therapy alone and radiotherapy alone in the twenty-first day.
CONCLUSION
The combined application of gene therapy and radiotherapy has an obviously higher curative effect than simple therapy. This method would establish a theoretic and clinical basis for the research of combination of suicide gene system tumor vascular targeting treating and radiotherapy.

Sichuan Mental Health 2023;36(3):266-270
BackgroundIn public health emergencies, medical staff undertake many important tasks. Having a good mental health status and capability in popularization of science can improve the work efficiency of medical staff, and thus enhancing the public's trust and support for medical care. ObjectiveTo investigated the anxiety, insomnia and security level of medical staff under the public health emergency, and to explore the correlation between anxiety and capability in popularization of science of them. MethodsFrom June 1 to September 1, 2020, a total of 588 medical staff in Sichuan Province were investigated through the Questionnaire Star platform. The survey included a self-designed general information questionnaire, the Psychological Security-Insecurity Questionnaire (S-I), Self-rating Anxiety Scale (SAS), Athens Insomnia Scale (AIS) and science popularization questionnaire during the COVID-19 epidemic. Pearson correlation analysis was used to examine the correlation among SAS, S-I and AIS scores, as well as the correlation between SAS and the science popularization questionnaire during the COVID-19 epidemic. ResultsDuring the public health emergency, the S-I score of the medical staff was (27.46±9.20), with 21 cases (3.57%) having a low level of security. The SAS score was (44.21±9.57), with 208 cases (35.37%) having anxiety symptoms. The AIS score was (11.40±5.25), with 450 cases (76.53%) suffering from insomnia. Correlation analysis showed that SAS score was negatively correlated with S-I score (r=-0.640, P<0.01), while positively correlated with AIS score (r=0.618, P<0.01). There was a negative correlation between the degree of usage about medical staff's science popularization tool and SAS score (r=-0.501~-0.185, P<0.01). The use of science popularization channels was negatively correlated with anxiety (r=-0.510~-0.232, P<0.05 or 0.01). There was a negative correlation between the level of trust to popularization of science and medical staff anxiety (r=-0.548~-0.338, P<0.01). ConclusionUnder the public health emergency, the detection rates of anxiety symptoms and sleep disorders among medical staff are high, and anxiety is negatively correlated with medical staff's capability in popularization of science.
