Objective To assess the clinical value of MRI in evaluation of acute spinal cord in-jury. Methods A total of 50 patients with acute spinal cord injury were examined with magnetic reso-nance (MRI), X-ray and CT. Of all, 15 patients for spinal MR imaging were examined with axial and sngittal spin-echo and fast spin-echo imaging and 17 with coronal imaging. All imaging was performed on 1.5T superconducting system (GE/SIEMENS) with spine surface coil. Results Among 50 patients with acute spinal cord injury, spinal cord edema was detected by MRI in 16 patients, by CT in four but none by X-ray. Intraspinal cord hemorrhage was detected by MRI in 21 patients, by CT in 11 but none by X-ray. Compression and dislocation were detected by MRI in 34 patients, by CT in 15 but none by X-ray. Incomplete and complete transection of spinal cord was found by MRI in 10 patients, by CT in three but none by X-ray. Conclusion MRI is superior to CT scanning and X-ray in detection and evaluation of a-cute spinal cord injury and is the optimal method for examination and diagnosis of acute spinal cord injury.

Objective To evaluate the X-ray diagnosis value of intestinal malrotation in adults. Methods The X-ray findings of 16 cases with intestinal malrotation confirmed by surgery were analyzed retrospectively. All of them were taken X-ray plain films, 11 cases were taken alimentary tract barium meal, and 5 cases were taken barium enema. Results Eight cases were found incomplete obstruction of the duodenum, and 2 cases were found low small intestine obstruction on the X-ray plain films. The alimentary tract barium meal showed 4 cases with dilatation and incomplete obstruction of the duodenal bulb to horizontal segment, and the distal end of narrowing intestine appeared as a rat tail,7 cases showed the abnormal duodenal location and shape, called "strip" sign. Four cases were found abnormal duodenojejunal flexure by barium enema examination. Conclusion The alimentary tract barium meal and barium enema examination has great diagnosis value for intestinal malrotation in adults.

Hemichorea associated with non-ketotic hyperglycemia(HC-NH)is a rare complication of diabetes mellitus. It is characterized by sudden and spontaneous non-repeating movements. Clinically, it presents as irregular dance-like movements in the distal parts of one limb, with unilateral involvement being more common and bilateral involvement being rare. Early diagnosis and treatment could improve the prognosis. We report a patient with hyperglycemia who developed bilateral involvement. It highlights the need to consider this condition in diabetic patients who present with secondary involuntary limb movements. Early treatment may lead to reversal of the symptoms.

OBJECTIVE To evaluate the bioequivalence and safety of two k inds of Nadroparin calcium injection in healthy Chinese volunteers by subcutaneous injection. METHODS According to the block randomization method ,24 Chinese healthy adult volunteers were included and divided into TR (test preparation-reference preparation )group and RT (reference preparation-test preparation)group at a ratio of 1∶1. A randomized ,open-labelled,single-dose and two-cycle crossover study was designed ,the fasting subjects of two groups were given test or reference preparation 6 150 AⅩaIU subcutaneously on the first day of each cycle and exchanged in the second cycle ,and the wash-out period was 7 days. The blood samples were collected at different time points before and after administration. The activity of anti-coagulant factor Ⅹa(Anti-Ⅹa)and Anti- Ⅱa in human plasma were determined by chromogenic substrate method ,and the pharmacodynamic parameters were calculated according to the non-atrioventricular model and the bioequivalence was evaluated. The occurrence of adverse events (AEs)was recorded. RESULTS After administration ,the main pharmacodynamic parameters for Anti- Ⅹa activity of test preparation and reference preparation were as follows :t1/2 were(4.87±1.06) and(4.03±1.00)h,tmax were 4.50(2.00,8.00)and 5.50(2.50,8.00)h,Anti-Ⅹamax were(0.66±0.12)and(0.56±0.11)IU/mL;main pharmacodynamic parameters of Anti- Ⅱa activity of two preparations were as follows :t1/2 were(3.64±1.60)and(5.74±7.23)h,tmax were 4.00(2.50,8.00)and 4.00(2.00,8.00)h,Anti-Ⅱamax were both (0.10±0.03)IU/mL. The values of 90%confidence interval of geometric mean ratio of Anti- Ⅹamax,AUEC0-t and AUEC 0-∞ were 110.98%-123.50%,112.11%-121.24%and 111.57%-120.00%, respectively. During experiment ,14 subjects reported 19 cases of mild AEs ,among which hematoma ,purpura and maculopapular rash may be related to drugs ;no serious AEs were observed. CONCLUSIONS The domestic Nadroparin calcium injection is bioequivalent to the reference preparation ,and both of them show good safety.

Objective To explore the influence of gender and age on auditory startle reflex in healthy adults. Methods A total of 150 healthy volunteers (92 males and 58 females) aged from 18 to 60 years were recruited for this study.A modified startle reflex paradigm was adopted.Furthermore,gender-age differences on startle magnitude, habituation, perceived spatial co-location induced prepulse inhibition (PSC-PPI) and perceived spatial separation-induced prepulse inhibition (PSS-PPI) in healthy volunteers were analyzed. Results ① There was no significant difference in amplitude and habituation of startie reflex between males and females (F=0.29,P=0.593;F=1.57,P=0.212).PSC-PPI and PSS-PPI were significantly higher in males (PSC-PPI:(34.68± 20.81) %,PSS-PPI:(44.56 ± 23.19) %) than those in females (PSC-PPI:(23.11±22.43)%,PSS-PPI:(35.21±25.09)%) (F=9.48,P=0.002;F=4.76,P=0.031).② There was a negative correlation between startle magnitude and age (r=-0.29,P<0.01),however,no obvious correlations between age and PSC-PPI or PSS-PPI as well as habituation were observed.③Bivariate analysis of variance showed that no interaction between gender and age was found to the indexes of startle reflex(F=0.71-1.36,all P>0.05).Conclusions There are differences for gender and age in the indexes of startle reflex. In detail, age chiefly influences startle magnitude, while gender mainly affects the prepulse inhibition.
