Background The measurement of corneal Q value is essential for corneal refractive surgery and calculation of intraocular lens during cataract surgery.Topolyzer was often used for the measurement of Q value,and recently Topcon KR-1W and iTrace were applied in ophthalmology.However,whether the measured values are interchangeable is unclear.Objective This study was to assess the difference and consistency of corneal Q values measured by Topcon KR-1W,iTrace and Topolyzer.Methods Corneal Q values were measured on 100 right eyes of 100 healthy subjects under the approval of Ethic Committee of the Sixth Hospital Affiliated to Shanghai Jiaotong University and informed consent of each subject from November to December in 2014 with Topcon KR-1W,iTrace and Topolyzer.Three valid measurements were obtained for each device,and the average values from each device were calculated.The difference of the outcomes among the instruments was compared by repeated measures analysis of variance (ANOVA),and the consistency among the outcomes from different apparatus was analyzed by Bland-Altman plots.Results The mean corneal Q values were-0.184-±0.112,-0.117±0.167 and-0.269±0.117 from Topcon KR-1W,iTrace and Topolyzer,respectively,with a significant difference among them (P ＜ 0.001).The measured Q value by Topcon KR-1W was 0.085±0.010 larger than that by Topolyzer,and the Q values by iTrace was 0.152± 0.014 larger than that by Topolyzer,while the Q values obtained by Topcon KR-1W was 0.067±0.016 smaller than that by iTrace (all at P＜0.05).The 95％ confidence interval of the values between Topcon KR-1W and iTrace,Topcon KR-1W and Topolyzer,iTrace and Topolyzer were-0.106 to-0.028,0.060 to 0.109 and 0.118 to 0.186,respectively.Bland-Altman plots showed that 6％,6％ and 5％ values were outside of 95％ agreement of limit (LoA) between Topcon KR-1W and iTrace,iTrace and Topolyzer or KR-1W and Topolyzer,respectively,with the maximal differences of 0.28,0.43 and 0.38.Conclusions Corneal Q values measured by Topcon KR-1W and iTrace are larger than those measured by Topolyzer.Due to the poor agreements among the corneal Q values by the 3 kinds of devices,they are not interchangeable in clinical applications for the measurement of corneal Q value.

Objective To evaluate the efficacy of percutaneous vertebroplasty for treating the vertebral compression fractures and vertebral metastatic neoplasms, and to assess its clinical curative effects Methods Among 81 cases (47 men and 34 women; ages 35～84, mean age 61 2 years), 110 vertebrae with metastatic neoplasms (61 cases) or vertebral osteoporosis (20 cases) were infused with methacrylate guided by DSA Effect of the operations was observed closely after the procedures Results The procedures were successful in all the involved patients and no significant complications were noted clinically Among the 61 patients treated for malignancies, 58 showed marked pain relief and 3 moderate pain relief 20 patients with vertebral osteoporosis demonstrated complete pain relief The cement leakage observed on radiographs included slight leakage to the adjacent disc (6 of 110, 5 5%), the epidural fat (8 of 110, 7 3%), the perivertebral venous plexus (2 of 110, 1 8%), and the paravertebral soft tissues (2 of 110, 1 8%) Conclusion Percutaneous vertebroplasty can significantly relieve the pain in patients with osteoporotic fractures caused by the malignancies and the vertebral osteoporosis We suggest that slight PMM leaks, when not symptomatic, should not be considered as complications

Through scale-up cultivation of Eriobotrya japonica suspension cells using WAVE bioreactor, the cell growth and ursolic acid (UA) accumulation were studied. The comparison test was carried out in the flask and the reactor with cell dry weight (DW) and UA content as evaluation indexes. The culture medium, DW and UA content were compared in 1 L and 5 L working volumes of bioreactor. The orthogonal test with main actors of inoculation amount, speed and angle of rotation was developed to find the optimal combination, in 1 L working volume of bioreactor. DW of the cell growth and the UA content in bioreactor were higher than those of the shaker by 105.5% and 27.65% respectively. In bioreactor, the dynamic changes of elements in the fluid culture, the dry weight of the cell growth and the UA content in 1 L and 5 L working volumes were similar. Inoculation of 80 g, rotational speed of 26 r · min(-1), and angle of 6 ° was the optimal combination, and the cell biomass of 19.01 g · L(-1) and the UA content of 27.750 mg · g(-1) were achieved after 100 h cultivation in 1 L working volume of bioreactor. WAVE Bioreactor is more suitable than flasks for the E. japonica cell suspension culture, and culture parameters can be achieved from 1 L to 5 L amplification.

OBJECTIVETo explore effective approaches of treating elderly patients with distal tibiofibular fractures.

METHODSFrom August 2008 to October 2012,175 elderly patients with distal tibiofibular fractures were treated with locking compression plate (LCP) through anterior tibial. There were 112 males and 63 females with an average of 71.3 (ranged 60 to 83) years old. Of them,89 cases were treated by anterior tibial tension reduced incision with LCP,including 62 males and 27 females with a mean age of (71.8 +/- 6.4) years old. Eighty-six patients were treated by distal tibial incision with LCP,including 58 males and 28 females with a mean age of (70.3 +/- 6.7) years old. Swelling time, operation time, intraoperative blood loss, hospital stay, healing time, complications and AOFAS scores were compared between two groups after operation.

RESULTSSwelling time in anterior tension reduced incision with LCP and distal tibial incision with LCP was (5.6 +/- 1.3) and (9.7 +/- 2.1) days, healing time was (4.2 +/- 1.4) and (5.4 +/- 1.9) months,and complications were found 3 in tension reduced incision and 10 in distak tibial incision respectively;and all data shown statistically significant differences between two groups (P < 0.05). At 12 months after operation,AOFAS score was 89.0 +/- 9.7, 87.9 +/- 9.4; and there was no statistically significant difference between two groups (P > 0.05).

CONCLUSIONTension reduced incision through anterior tibial combined with locking compression plate fixation in treating elderly patients with distal tibiofibular fractures can provide good clinical effects with quick fracture healing and low complications.

A comprehensive analytical method based on ultra performance liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry has been developed for the simultaneous determination of 16 carcinogenic and allergenous dye stuffs (acid red 26, basic red 9, disperse blue 1, acid violet 49, disperse blue 3, solvent yellow 1, dispersed blue 106, disperse orange 3, disperse yellow 3, basic violet 1, basic violet 3, disperse red 1, solvent yellow 3, disperse blue 124, solvent yellow 2 and disperse orange 37).Various toy samples, including textile, leath er, paper, wood, balloon, modeling clay, limitation tattoo and aqueous liquid, were extracted under ultrason ication.Qualitative and quantitative analysis was carried out for the analyte under the MRM mode after the chromatographic separation on Waters ACQUITY UPLC BEH C_(18)(50 mm x 2.1 mm, 1.7 μm) column.The limits of quantitation(LOQ) for the 16 dyestuffs were in the range of 1.0-8.0 μg/kg.The mean recoveries at the three spiked levels of 5-100 μg/kg were 81.3%-98.6%, with the intra-day precision less than 11% and the inter-day precision less than 14%.The method is accurate, rapid, sensitive, and adapt to the inspec tion of the 16 dyestuffs in toys.
