Spinal cord injury occurs with an average annual incidence of 15 40 cases per million of population. The costs of treatment and rehabilitation in the living period of patients with spinal cord injury are very high. Prevention, therapy and rehabilitation of spinal cord injury have become a major subject in medical science. The aim of this article is to summarize the statistics of incidence, etiological factors, clinical characteristics and complications in patients with spinal cord injury.
3.Effect of fetal transplants on functional recovery after spinal cord transecti on in newborn and adult rats

Objective To study the effect of fetal transplants on the fu nctional recovery after spinal cord transection in new born and adult rats. Meth ods The spinal cord tissue at E14 of a rat fetal was transferred into the hemise ction cavity at lumbar spinal cord in the newborn and adult rats. 4, 8, 12 weeks after the operation, spinal cord tissue morphology, combined behavioral score ( CBS), somatosensory evoked potentials (SEP), and motor evoked potentials (MEP) w ere examined. Results The transplanted tissue survived in the host spinal cord. There was a statistical difference in CBS between the newborn graft group and th e adult graft group. The peak latencies of early waves in SEPs and MEPs of the n ewborn graft group were superior to those of the adult graft group (P
4.OBSERVATION OF RAT TRACHEAL STEM CELLS DURING THE INJURE AND REGENERATION INDUCED BY 5-FU

Objective To observe the rat tracheal stem cells in situ.Methods Tracheal rings of Wistar rats treated with 5-FU to make an injure model in vitro then observing the process of regeneration in sequence time from 3*!hours to 48*!hours. Use light microscope to detect the development of tracheal epithelium,assay the level of proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA) immunohistochemistry and perform Hoechst33342 staining to search the negative staining cells. Results Twelve hours after 5-FU it could be seen that tracheal mucosa exfoliated with nuke-nucleus like cells nailed just above the basement membrane,6*!hours after removing 5-FU we could see that the tracheal rings were covered with squamous epithelium. It could be seen that PCNA immunohistochemistry negative staining cells located bordering on the positive one. Meanwhile under fluorescent contrast microscope negative cells with no Hoechst dye combinations were among most of the positive cells. 12*!hours after removing 5-FU mucous granular cells and cilia cells could be seen. After 48*!hours the whole tracheal rings were covered with pseudostratified columnar ciliated epithelium.Conclusion 5-FU is a cell-cycle specific antimetabolite cytotoxicant.It can make the cycling cells degeneration and necrosis but has little effect on the G 0 cells. Few G 0 cells which look like nuke nucleus cells randomly on the basement have the ability to efflux the dye Hoechst33342.The tracheal rings are regenerated through these cells differentiation and proliferation.
5.Effects of TSA on Cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury via JAK/STAT signal pathway in rats

Objective To investigate the protective effect of trichostatin-A (TSA) on cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury via Janus kinase/signal transducer and activator of transcription (JAK/STAT) signal pathway.Methods 36 male SD rats were randomly (random number) divided into 3 groups:shamoperated group,ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) group and TSA group.Rat model of middle cerebral artery occlusion/reperfusion (MCAO) was established using a modified filament method.No occlusion was applicated to the sham-operated group.TSA group was injected with TSA 0.05 mg/kg via penile vein,20 minutes before operation.Reperfusion was carried out 24 hours after modeling.Longa 5 score was used to assess the neurological function,and TTC staining was applied to calculate the percentage of cerebral infarction area,The expression of JAK2 and p-JAK2 proteins was detected by Elisa.Results The low expression of JAK2 was observed in each group,and there was no statistical difference between groups (P =0.266).Compared with I/R group,TSA group had lower score in cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury assessment (P=0.019),smaller area of cerebral infarction (P <0.01),reduced expression of p-JAK2 (P =0.009),all of which were of significant difference.Condusions TSA can reduce the cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury via JAK/STAT signal pathway by down regulating p-JAK2 expression.
6.Therapeutic effect of repaglinide on patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus complicated atherosclerosis

Objective:To explore therapeutic effect of repaglinide on patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) complicated atherosclerosis (AS).Methods:A total of 120 T2DM + AS patients treated in our hospital from Mar 2012 to May 2014 were selected.They were randomly and equally divided into repaglinide group (received repaglin- ide treatment)and glipizide group (received glipizide treatment).Fasting blood glucose (FBG)and 2h postprandial blood glucose (2hPG)levels before and after treatment,serum levels of high sensitive C reactive protein (hsCRP) and oxidized low density lipoprotein (oxLDL)after treatment,and patients'satisfaction on treatment were com- pared and analyzed between two groups.Results:Compared with before treatment,there were significant reductions in levels of FBG and 2hPG in both groups after treatment (P<0.01 all);compared with glipizide group,there were significant reductions in levels of FBG [(6.94±0.41)mmol/L vs.(6.05±0.54)mmol/L],2hPG [(8.03±0.74) mmol/L vs.(7.66±0.78)mmol/L],serum hsCRP [(5.75±0.26)mg/L vs.(4.71±0.32)mg/L]and serum ox- LDL [(98.30±25.05)μg/dl vs.(52.21±17.50)μg/dl]after treatment in repaglinide group,P<0.01 all.Satis- faction rate in repaglinide group was significantly higher than that of glipizide group (93.33% vs.60.00%),P<0.01. Conclusion:Repaglinide possesses significant therapeutic effect on patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus com- plicated atherosclerosis.It can significantly reduce blood glucose,blood lipid and serum hsCRP levels.
7.Clinical observation of 577 nm panretinal photocoagulation on macular foveal retinal thickness on diabetic retinopathy

AlM: To investigate the influences of 577nm panretinal photocoagulation ( PRP ) on the retinal thickness of macular fovea on diabetic retinopathy ( DR) .METHODS:A total of 45 eyes of 37 cases suffering from preproliferative diabetic retinopathy ( PPDR ) and proliferative diabetic retinopathy ( PDR ) undergoing 577nm PRP were enrolled in this study. The alterations of the retinal thickness of macular fovea measured by optovue optical coherence tomography( OCT) before and 1, 3, 6mo following PRP were comparatively analyzed.RESULTS: The macularfoveal retinal thickness after 1, 3mo of PRP had significantly increased that before operation (P<0. 05). After 6mo postoperative follow-up, it gradually recovered to the level before PRP, with no significant difference (P>0. 05).CONCLUSlON: After the treatment of PRP, it appeared a transient increase on the retinal thickness of macular fovea, but after 6mo following-up, the macular foveal retinal thickness decreased nearly to the levels before PRP.
8.Preliminary study of rabbit model with corneal neovascularization after thermal burn under the constant temperature

AlM:To explore the suitable conditions in rapid model of corneal neovascularization ( CNV ) after thermal burn under different constant temperature in rabbit.
METHODS: Total 45 New Zealand white rabbits were divided randomly into five groups ( A, B, C, D, E ) . A groups:100℃ ( n = 10 ) , B groups: 200℃ ( n = 10 ) , C groups:300℃ ( n=10 ) , D groups: 400℃ ( n=10 ) , and E groups:control group ( n=5 ) . All left eyes of rabbits in A,B,C,D groups were induced corneal neovascularization by constant temperature burning device. The growth of CNV was observed by slit lamp microscope and the area of CNV were recorded on 4 th , 7 th , 14 th , 30 th days postoperatively. SPSS 19. 0 statistical package was used for data analysis, and the data was recorded by mean ± standard deviation. Comparison by analysis of variance was made by repeated measures in the area of neovascularization at each time point in groups. Statistical tests were considered significantly when P values were less than 0. 05.
RESULTS:On postoperative 4 th , 7 th , 14 th , 30 th days: no neovascularization was found after corneal thermal burn in A group, but only a few nebula left (n=2);the area of CNV were (9.16±1.45)mm2, (37.73±5.49)mm2, (62.44± 7. 54 ) mm2 , ( 40. 28 ± 7. 39 ) mm2 in B group respectively;and (11.45±1.04)mm2, (44.51±4.64)mm2, (66.13±4.13)mm2, (43.04±2.33)mm2 in C group respectively; and (13.23± 0.86)mm2,(47.26±4.59)mm2,(67.57±4.56)mm2,(45.59± 4. 44 ) mm2 in D group respectively, and part corneal carbide ( n = 4 ) was observed as well as corneal perforation ( n= 6 ) were found on 3d in D group. No neovascularization was found in normal control group. Comparison of the areas of CNV at each time point between groups was statistically different, P < 0. 05. Statistical differences were found among B, C, D groups, P<0. 05.
COCLUSlON:ln 4 to 7d, the higher the temperature is, the more the neovascularization area of CNV are. lt has no significant difference in 14 to 30d. But corneal carbide and corneal perforation are often found in 400℃ group, so its modeling failure rate is high. lt is between 200℃ and 300℃ that repeatability and uniformity of the corneal neovascularization model of rabbit are superior.
9.The relationship of ultrafiltration with diurnal rhythm of blood pressure and cardiac function in hemodialyzed patients

Objective To investigate the relationship among ultrafiltration (UF), diurnal rhythm of blood pressure (BP) and cardiac structure and function in hemodialyzed(HD) patients. Method 42 hemodialyzed patients were studied. Intensified UF during routine HD were given to them for 4 weeks. Before and after 4 weeks, everyone received 24 hours ambulatory blood pressure monitoring and cardiac doppler and recorded diameter of left atrium (LAD) ,left ventricle (LVEDD), thickness of posterior wall of left ventricle during end stage of diastolic period (LVPWT) ,thickness of interventricular septum(IVST) ,ejection fraction (EF). Result In hemodialyzed patients, non-dipper hypertension was much more than dippers (P < 0.05). There was significant difference between nocturnal BP and cardiac structure before and after 4 weeks of hemodialysis ( P < 0.05 ). Conclusion Nocturnal hyperten- sion of hemodialyzed patients is related to hypervolemia. Intensive ultrafihration can improve nocturnal hypertension and eardiac function.
10.The role of nuclear factor-κB pathway on carcinogenesis and therapy of thyroid cancer

The incidence rate of thyroid cancer is increasing very rapidly during the past years.131I treatment for DTC is an effective method.However,DTC refractory to 131I treatment or therapeutic failure is not uncommon.High level expression of nuclear factor-kappa B (NF-λB) in thyroid cancer is closely related with carcinogenesis,progression,anti-apoptosis and therapeutic resistance.NF-κB inhibitor was effective for the treatment of thyroid cancer.Combined NF-κB inhibitor with131I may improve the therapeutic efficacy.
