2.Impact of endocrine disrupting chemicals on semen quality.
National Journal of Andrology 2011;17(10):943-946
Endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs) are natural or man-made agents that interfere in some way with human or animal normal endocrine function, and even influence the endocrine function of their offspring. There are many kinds of EDCs, which are widely present in soil, water, and even food. This review elaborates the impact of EDCs on human and animal semen quality from the viewpoint of epidemiology and biology by focusing on pesticides, plasticizers and detergents.

Chinese Journal of Tissue Engineering Research 2013;(38):6766-6772
BACKGROUND:At present, col agen as a material in periodontal tissue engineering has some disadvantages such as poor mechanical strength and rapid degradation speed. Col agen combined with chitosan can improve above-mentioned problems.
OBJECTIVE:To evaluate the biocompatibility of a novel chitosan-col agen scaffold in vitro.
METHODS:Cytotoxicity of the extract of chitosan-col agen scaffold in different concentrations (100%, 75%, 50%, 25%) was evaluated by 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide assay. Human periodontal ligament cel s at 4-6 passages were cocultured with the chitosan-col agen scaffold. Cel growth on the scaffold was observed. Changes in alkaline phosphatase activity were detected in periodontal ligament cel s before and after coculture.
RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:The novel chitosan-col agen scaffold was made up of double layers with one dense layer and another loose layer. The grade of the cytotoxicity of the scaffold was from 0 to 1. Scanning electron microscope and histological observation demonstrated that cel s grew wel on the chitosan-col agen scaffold;the dense layer could prevent cel s to migrate into the scaffold. There were no significant differences in alkaline phosphatase activity in human periodontal ligament cel s before and 24 hours after combined culture (P>0.05). Alkaline phosphatase activity in human periodontal ligament cel s was greatly higher at 48 and 72 hours after combined culture compared with that before culture (P<0.05). Above results indicated that the novel chitosan-col agen scaffold has a good biocompatibility and barrier function, and potential as a scaffold for periodontal tissue engineering.

Objective To study the clinical and pathological features of nemaline myopathy(NM) in 12 cases. Methods Clinical manifestations and pathological features of muscle-biopsy specimens were summarized and analyzed retrospectively in 12 NM cases. Results In 12 cases,7 patients with typical congenital type exhibited lower or four limbs weakness as the first symptom and benign course.Three patients with childhood onset type exhibited lower limbs weakness and progressive course, and this type of patient might have muscle atrophy. Two patients with adult onset type exhibited four limbs and throat muscle weakness, rapidly progressive course and obvious muscle atrophy, and one patient had already shown acute respiratory failure.High arched feet and elongated face were observed.Creatin kinase value in all patients was normal or mildly elevated, and all electromyography showed myogenic changes. In light microscopy, the nemaline bodies were observed in more than half muscle fibers, especially in type 1 fibers. All patients showed type 1 predominance and atrophy.Modified Gomori trichrome stains showed characteristic purplecolored rods.Muscle electron microscopy showed high electron dense nemaline bodies around nucleus and disorganized myofibrillar apparatus such as broken myofilaments, irregular myofibril and Z lines.Nemaline bodies under electron microscopy may be part of myofibril or high electron-dense bodies with no structure. Conclusions The 12 patients in this study with NM are divided into 3 types,of which adult onset type is the most severe one.The key diagnosis is based on the appearance of nemaline bodies in more than half of the muscle fibers and the muscle electron microscopy observation.

Chinese Journal of Radiology 2001;0(05):-
Objective To investigate the MR features of pituitary abscess. Methods The MR features of 14 cases of pituitary abscess proved by surgical pathology and clinical treatments were analyzed retrospectively. Results Pre-contrast MR showed hypointense heterogeneous intensity on T_1 WI in 12 cases and iso-hyperintense on T_1 WI in 2 cases, hyperintense on T_2 WI in all cases.Post-gadolinium MR showed the ring-like enhancement around the uneven edge of abscess and the surrounding enhanced meninges connecting to the focus. The normal pituitary could not be identified in all 14 cases. The MR specific findings include the fluid-fluid level, nodule on the edge and the enhanced patchy shadow. Conclusions The pituitary abscess has specific findings on MR examination, which can be used to combine with clinical symptoms to achieve the diagnosis before operation,so that the cases could be treated with antibiotic without operation.

LncRNAH19 has been implicated as having both oncogenic and tumor suppression properties in cancer. LncRNAH19 transcripts also serve as a precursor for miR-675. However, it is unknown whether LncRNAH19 and miR-675 are involved in the migration and invasion of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) cells. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect and mechanism of LncRNAH19 and miR-675 on migration and invasion of HCC cells. The migration and invasion of HCC cells were measured by Transwell migration and invasion assays after transfection of HCC cells with miR-675 inhibitors and LncRNAH19siRNA. The levels of LncRNAH19 and miR-675 were detected by quantitative reverse transcriptase real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR), and the protein expression of AKT, GSK-3β and Cdc25A by Western blotting analysis. The expression levels of LncRNAH19 and miR-675 were higher in MHCC-97H cells than in L02, Huh-7 and HepG2 cells. Transwell migration assay revealed that the miR-675 inhibitor and LncRNAH19siRNA could significantly increase the migration of HCC cells (P<0.01) as compared with the control group. Transwell invasion assay demonstrated that the miR-675 inhibitor and LncRNAH19siRNA could significantly increase the invasion of HCC cells (P<0.01) as compared with the control group. Western blotting analysis showed that the expression levels of AKT and Cdc25A were significantly increased (P<0.05), and the expression level of GSK-3β was significantly decreased (P<0.05) after treatment with miR-675 inhibitors and LncRNAH19siRNA as compared with the control group. These findings suggested that inhibition of LncRNAH19 and miR-675 expression can promote migration and invasion of HCC cells via AKT/GSK-3β/Cdc25A signaling pathway.
