AIM: To evaluate the changes of corneal high - order aberration (including Coma, Spab, RMSh) after laser in situ keratomileusis (LASIK) with femtosecond laser, sub- Bowman keratomileusis ( SBK ) and laser epithelial keratomileusis (LASEK). METHODS: Of 82 myopic patients ( 164 eyes ), 31 patients (62 eyes) were treated by FS-LASIK, 31 patients (62 eyes) were treated by SBK, 20 patients (40 eyes) were treated by LASEK. Sirius system was used for measuring the coma aberration, spherical aberration, and high order aberration at 1, 15d,1, 3mo after surgery. RESULTS: 1) Vision: The uncorrected visual acuity of the three groups had no differences (P>0. 05). 2) Corneal aberrations: Three kinds of surgical procedure for patients with corneal aberration had significant impact. The C7, C8, C12 and RMSh of three groups were increased significantly (P<0. 05). The C7, C8, C12 and RMSh were not recovered to preoperative levels after 3mo. But the increase of patients after FS- LASIK was smaller than the other two groups, with statistical significance (P<0. 05). CONCLUSION: Compared with SBK and LASEK, FS - LASIK has better visual acuity in the early postoperative and corneal higher-order aberrations increase is relatively small.

Objective:To observe the clinical effect of warm needling moxibustion plus acupoint sticking therapy for cervical radiculopathy.Methods:A total of 120 cases were allocated into an observation group,a warm needling group and an acupoint sticking group according to the random number table,with 40 cases in each group.Cases in the observation group received warm needling moxibustion plus acupoint sticking therapy;cases in the warm needling group received the same warm needling moxibustion in the observation group;cases in the acupoint sticking group received the same acupoint sticking therapy in the observation group.The scores of Japanese Orthopaedic Association (JOA) and visual analog scale (VAS) were recorded before and after treatment.Results:The total effective rate was 95.0％ in the observation group,versus 77.5％ in the warm needling group and 75.0％ in the acupoint sticking group (both P＜0.05).Inter-group differences in JOA and VAS between the observation group and the other two groups were statistically significant (all P＜0.05).Conclusion:Warm needling moxibustion plus acupoint sticking therapy is effective in treating cervical radiculopathy,and it can significantly alleviate pain and enhance clinical efficacy,and thus is worth clinical popularization.

Objective To investigate the effects of total flavonoids in Gingko Biloba on glucose and lipid metabolism and liver function in rats with insulin resistance. Methods Forty SD rats were randomly divided into normal control group,model group,total flavonoids in Gingko Biloba group and rosiglitazone group(positive drug control group)(n=10).Models of insulin resistance were established by high glucose and high fat diet in model group,total flavonoids in Gingko Biloba group and rosiglitazone group.After treatment for 12 weeks,serum glucose,serum lipids,and parameters of insulin resistance,liver function and anti-oxidation capability were detected in each group,and histologic observations of liver tissues were conducted with adipose staining. Objective To investigate the MR features of pituitary abscess.Methods The MR features of 14 cases of pituitary abscess proved by surgical pathology and clinical treatments were analyzed retrospectively.Results Pre-contrast MR showed hypointense heterogeneous intensity on T_1 WI in 12 cases and iso-hyperintense on T_1 WI in 2 cases,hyperintense on T_2 WI in all cases.Post-gadolinium MR showed the ring-like enhancement around the uneven edge of abscess and the surrounding enhanced meninges connecting to the focus.The normal pituitary could not be identified in all 14 cases.The MR specific findings include the fluid-fluid level,nodule on the edge and the enhanced patchy shadow.Conclusions The pituitary abscess has specific findings on MR examination,which can be used to combine with clinical symptoms to achieve the diagnosis before operation,so that the cases could be treated with antibiotic without operation.

ObjectiveTo evaluate the effect of N-acetylcysteine (NAC) on alleviating hepatorenal damage caused by combined chemotherapy using cisplatin-based regiments in elderly patients. MethodsAll 40 elderly patients with malignant tumors were randomly divided into AB and BA group in cross-over pattern. In AB group, combination of chemotherapy and NAC was administrated for 10 days first, and then combination of chemotherapy, carnine and vitamin C was given for 10 days. In BA group, combination of chemotherapy, earnine and vitamin C was administrated for 10 days first, and then combination of chemotherapy and NAC was given for 10 days, a cycle was 21 days. The hepatorenal damage degree was observed and the curative effect of NAC on hepatorenal damage was evaluated. ResultsThere were no differences in the levels of alanine aminotransferase(ALT), aspartate aminotransferase(AST) and serum creatinine(Cr) between pre chemotherapy and post chemotherapy in A cycle[(25.32±5.23) U/L vs. (29.18±5.43) U/L,(29.21±6.51)U/L vs. (32.37±7. 13)U/L, (89.87±19.56)Mmol/L vs. (95.22±20. 60)μmol/L,all P>0. 05] . In B cycle, the levels of ALT,AST and Cr were (56.76±5.53) U/L, (48.83±6.64)U/L and (137.33±21.16)μmol/L post chemotherapy, respectively, which were evidently higher than pre chemotherapy[(26.19 ± 5.51) U/L, (29.95±6.56) U/L and (88.66±18.27)μmol/L,respectively] (all P<0.01) . ConclusionsNAC has better preventive and therapeutic effects on hepatorenal damage caused by the chemotherapeutic drugs in elderly patients with malignant cancer.

OBJECTIVETo explore the protective effect of electroacupuncture (EA) pretreatment on ovarian function in rats with ovulation induction.

METHODSThirty SD female rats were numbered according to random number table. According to vaginal smear method, rats of estrus were divided into a normal group (10 rats) and cohabitated with male SD rats with the proportion of 1:1. With computer-generated random number, the remaining rats were divided into a model group and an EA group, 10 rats in each one. The model of superovulation was established with pregnant mare serum gonadotropin (PMSG) and human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG) in the model group and EA group. Before model establishment and cohabitation, rats in the EA group were treated with EA at "Guanyuan (CV 4)" and "Sanyinjiao (SP 6)", once for 15 min, for consecutive 7 days. Rats in the normal group and model group received no further treatment. The third day 23:00 pm after cohabitation, blood samples in three groups were collected to test the level of estradiol (E₂) and progesterone (P). After the rats were sacrificed, the HE staining method was applied to observe the morphological changes of ovarian tissue; the immunohistochemical method was applied to measure the expression of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and its receptor VEGFR-2; the real-time quantitative PCR technique was applied to measure the gene expression of VEGF and VEGFR-2.

RESULTSThe number of ovarian follicle in the EA group was higher than that in the model group and normal group (all P < 0.05); the ratio of corpus luteum size to ovarian size in the EA group was lower than that in the model group (P < 0.01). The ratio of plasma estradiol to progesterone in the EA group tended to be normal group (P < 0.05) and lower than that in the model group (P < 0.01). The protein expression of VEGF and VEGFR-2 in lutein granulosa cell and follicular fluid in the EA group was lower than that in the model group (P < 0.05); gene level of VEGF and VEGFR-2 in ovarian tissue in the EA group was lower than that in the model group (P < 0.05, P < 0.01).

CONCLUSIONEA pretreatment has certain protective effect on ovarian function in rats with ovulation induction, which is likely to be related to regulation of VEGF and its receptor.
