Objective To investigate the expression and significance of Insulin like growth factor-ⅡmRNA binding protein3 (IMP3) in gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST). Methods One hundred and fifteen cases of GIST were subjected to immunohistochemical staining for IMP3 (SP method) and ki67 (iVisionTM method ). The relationship between IMP3 expression with clinicopathologic parameters and Ki67 proliferation indexes were analyzed. In situ hybridization detection of IMP3 mRNA was performed in 20 cases of GIST positive. Results The expression rate of IMP3 was 56.2%(65/115) in GIST positive. A significant correlation can be found between IMP3 expression and tumor of infiltration , coagulative necrosis , metastasis , nuclear atypia , diameter , mitotic count , risk grade of NIH (P < 0.05), while there was no significant correlation between IMP3 and gender, age, primary location, categories of cell type (P>0.05). There was positive correlation of IMP3 expression and Ki67 labeling indexes by Spearman analysis. Positive expression with IMP3 can be observed in 3 cases of recurrence. It may play important role in invasive and development and may be an important factor of prognosis in GIST.

OBJECTIVE Xingnaojing injection(XNJ)is an extracts of Angong Niuhuang Pill that is a well-known traditional Chinese medicine used for the treatment of septicemia and stroke. This study aims to investigate the effect of XNJ on intestinal mucosal barrier in septicemia and intracerebral hem-orrhage(ICH)mice models.METHODS The septicemia mice models were induced by intravenous in-jection with lipopolysaccharide(20 mg·kg-1).And the ICH mice models were made by intrastriatal injec-tion of bacterial collagenase. The septicemia animals were treated intravenously with XNJ at dose of 2.5,5,10,or 15 mL·kg-1.The ICH animals were treated intravenously with XNJ at dose of 10 mL·kg-1. Thereafter, the permeability of intestinal mucosa was assayed by FITC-D method. RESULTS Com-pared with the control group(44.72±4.30),the permeability of intestinal mucosa in the mice in septice-mia group (233.68±28.18) was significantly increased (P<0.01). Treatment with XNJ at dose of 5, 10, and 15 mL·kg-1reduced the permeability of intestinal mucosa (150.45 ± 17.52,139.21 ± 17.05,132.55 ± 18.88,respectively, P<0.01)except 2.5mL·kg-1(240.71±21.42,P>0.01);Compared with sham group (57.88±7.31),the permeability of intestinal mucosa in the mice of ICH(282.25±23.78)was significantly in-creased(P<0.01). Treatment with XNJ (10 mL·kg-1)in the mice of ICH group ameliorated the change of permeability in intestinal mucosa (148.83±15.86, P<0.01). CONCLUSION XNJ exhibits the protec-tive effect on the intestinal mucosal barrier in septicemia and ICH, which will prevent the endotoxin to penetrate the intestinal mucosa and then to enter the circulation in infections and stress.

Objective To evaluate the clinical effects of ultrasound-guided internal jugular vein catheterization in long axis plane, short axis plane and oblique axis plane,in order to identify the opti-mal axis plane for this procedure. Methods One hundred and eighty patients (male 94 cases, female 86 cases, aged 34-82 years)requiring ultrasound-guided internal jugular vein catheterization were in-cluded in this study. They were randomly divided into three groups (n =60 each),long axis group, short axis group and oblique axis group, with 60 cases in each group. The details of catheterization in-cluding the time accessing into vein, the time finishing cannulation, needle redirecting times, number of skin points of puncture, puncture successful rate and complications in the three groups were recor-ded.Results Compared with long axis plane and short axis plane, the oblique axis plane was associat-ed with decreased time for venous access and cannulation. The oblique axis plane also needed less changes of needle direction. The complication of arterial puncture in the oblique axis plane group was significantly lower than long axis plane group and short axis plane group(P <0.05).The number of skin puncture points were similar between the three groups. Conclusion The oblique plane can provide a safe and more effective route to perform the IJV catheterization with minimal risk for carotid artery puncture, which demonstrates the practical superiority over the classic short axis plane and long axis plane for critically ill patients.

AIM: To investigate the effects and mechanism of enalapril on nephritis of diabetic mice. METHODS: Diabetes was induced by injection of streptozotocin after uninephrectomy. Rats were randomly divided into three groups: control, diabetes, diabetes treated with enalapril (10 mg?kg~-1 ?d~-1 by gavage). 8 weeks after STZ injection, urine albumin excretion rate (AER) were measured, and glomerular morphology were observed by light microscopy. The levels of malonyldialdehyde (MDA) in renal tissue and urine as well as activities of superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT), glutathione peroxidase (GSH-PX) in renal tissue were determined. Immunohistochemistry for ED-1 (macrophage marker), monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 (MCP-1) and intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (ICAM-1) were performed by streptavidin-biotin complex (SABC) technique. RESULTS: Increased kidney weight, ratio of kidney weight to body weight, AER and expansion of mesangial as well as tuft areas on histological examination of the kidney were significantly attenuated by the treatment of enalapril (P
