Journal of Environment and Health 1992;0(04):-
Objective To investigate the effects of DDT (dichloro-diphenyl-trichloroethane) residuals in the surrounding environment of a pesticide plant on the health of women and children. Methods 50 pairs of children aged 6-10 years and their mothers were investigated during Jan-Jul, 2005. The venous blood samples were collected, the levels of DDT and its 4 metabolites (p,p’-DDE, p,p’-DDT, p,p’-DDD and o,p’-DDT) were determined by GC-ECD and the biochemical indexes of blood were assayed. Each participant completed a questionnaire for information on health history and lifestyle and underwent a prenatal health examination. Results The blood lipid levels were abnormal in 18 percent of mothers. The level of blood total DDT in mothers and children was 8.42 and 11.98 ng/ml respectively. o,p’-DDT and p,p’-DDD were not detected. The level of p,p’-DDE and total DDT in children’s blood was higher than that in the women’s. Conclusion DDT has been accumulated in some degree in the blood of women and children in the area.

China Journal of Orthopaedics and Traumatology 2014;27(5):437-440
Bone marrow mesenchymal cells (BMSCs) are regarded as donor cells in cell transplantation therapies for spinal cord injury (SCI) for they have the ability of favourable proliferation and multi-directional differentiation, and are easily isolated and culturd and have less immunological reaction. It has been confirmed that subarachnoid space injection is the most ideal delivery technique of BMSCs. Bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells transplantation is safe and its reconditioning role is certain for SCI in early clinical application. The mechanism of BMSCs promoting functional recovery after SCI is probably concerned with vicarious function, nerve trophism, immunosuppression and promoting axonal regeneration by BMSCs.

Dopa preparations are currently first choice for the clinical treatment of Parkinson' s disease. With the application time extension and the dose increase of dopa preparations, the therapeutic effect is smaller and smaller, while the side effects are more and more significant, which have become the main problems affecting their clinical application. The current researches showed that the combination of traditional Chinese medicines and dopa preparations can improve the efficacy, decrease the dose of western medicines, reduce the adverse effects and so on. The paper reviewed the progress in the combination of dopa preparations and traditional Chinese medicines in the treatment of Parkinson' s disease in recent ten years.

Objective To explore the value of phase-contrast magnetic resonance imaging (PC-MR) in diagnosis of secundum atrial septal defect (ASD) in pediatric patients. Methods Totally 42 patients (aged from 9 months to 15 years) with secundum ASD proved with tansthoric echocardiographic (TTE) were evaluated with PC-MRI. Images of the flow through ASD were obtained with PC-MRI. The distances of ASD rim to superior vena cava (SVC), inferior vena cava (IVC), atrioventricular valves (AVV) and right upper pulmonary vein (RUPV), as well as the entrances of the vena cava and right upper pulmonary vein (RUPV) were assessed. Results The sizes of ASD and distances of ASD rim to the adjacent structures (SVC, RVC, AVV and RUPV) at PC-MRI were well consistent with those of TTE in 42 patients (P<0.001). PC-MRI results in 26 patients correlated well with surgical results (P<0.001). With different velocity encoding, compared with surgical results, measurements of ASD's sizes were more accurate when setting velocity from 50 to 70 cm/s than 90 cm/s. Conclusion The shape of ASD can be virtually depicted with PC-MRI. PC-MRI can accurately assess the defect size, number, rim distances to adjacent structures, therefore providing a new method for depiction of congenital heart anomaly.
