Eighty patients with T2DM hospitalized at Tongren Hospital, Beijing during June to December 2009 were chosen for survey by FFQ (food frequency questionnaire).Their daily food intake and nutrient intake were collected and percentage of energy generated from carbohydrate, protein and fat were estimated for each participant, and analyzed based on the criteria of dietary intake for T2DM, the dietary guidelines and the recommendations for dietary nutritional structure for Chinese residents.Among 80 patients with T2DM, 27 (34%) were found insufficient daily protein intake, 39 (49%) insufficient carbohydrates,40 (50%) excessive fat, and 74 (93%) insufficient dietary fiber, respectively. There was a significant gap between their daily total energy intake and that recommended for patients with T2DM ( P < 0.01 or 0.05 ).No significant difference was found in daily intake of total energy, protein, fat carbohydrate and dietary fiber among T2DM patients with varied body mass index ( P > 0.05 ).Dietary pattern and actions and selfmanagement in the patients with T2DM surveyed are not so reasonable.

International Eye Science 2007;7(3):623-625
AIM: To compare the visual effects of optimized aspheric transition zone Laser in situ keratomileusis (OAT z-LASIK )versus conventional Laser in situ keratomileusis (con. LASIK).METHODS: In a prospective study 44 patients (88 eyes)underwent OAT z -LASIK and 50 patients (92 eyes) received conventional LASIK surgery. Visual acuity, refractions、contrast sensitivity (CS),glare sensitivity (GS), and increment of Q-value after surgery were studied.RESULTS: All of operations on 94 cases were successful without severe complication after 3 months' follow-up. There was no significant difference in term of postoperative refractions between the two groups (t-test,P>0.05). The uncorrected visual acuity (UCVA), CS, GS, and increment of Q-value of OAT z group were significantly better compared to the tradition group 3 months after the surgery (P<0.05).CONCLUSION: OAT z - LASIK is a more effective procedure to improve visual quality compared to conventional LASIK.

Objective To detect genetic causes of idiopathic mental retardation/developmental delay in 20 male patients with epilepsy and to analyze their clinical characteristics of positive mutation carriers. Methods The families, consisted of the patient and his parents were recruited.Genomic DNA was extracted from peripheral blood, and candidate gene mutation screening was carried out by next-generation sequencing technology.Mutations in positive gene were verified by polymerase chain reaction(PCR) and direct sequencing. Results Three missense mutations were identified among 3 patients out of 20 cases, with a detection rate of 15%.They were:OPHN1 gene c.1996 C > G,RAB39B gene c.542 C > T and AFF2 gene c.427 A > T,none of which had been reported before. All of these mutations were likely to be pathogenic based on gene function, evolutionary conservation, variant frequency in normal population (NHLBI Exome Sequencing Project and 1 000 Genomes),bioinformatics prediction and inheritance patterns. In addition, all 3 genes disrupted were residing on the X chromosome previously demonstrated to be associated with X-linked mental retardation(XLMR),indicating that they were probably pathogenic or might serve as one of the risk factors. Conclusions Abnormal function of genes on the X chromosomal is one of the most impotent causes of XLMR.X chromosomal gene mutation screening would be recommended for male children suffering from idiopathic mental retardation with epilepsy.

Chinese Journal of Radiation Oncology 2009;18(2):149-151
Objective To study anti-radiation behavior of plasma sprayed boron carbide coatings. Methods The anti-radiation capacity of 16Mn steel which was coated with 0.1 mm plasma sprayed boron carbide were studied. The irradiation beams were 6,10,15 MY X-ray and 6,9,12,15 MeV electron emitted by accelerator, X-ray emitted by 60Co machine, fast neutron, and X-ray emitted by kilovoltage X-ray ma-chine. Results Anti-radiation capacity of plasma sprayed boron carbide coatings was not found for X-ray beams emitted by accelerator and 60Co machine. For electron beams, the anti-radiation capacity were found. The deeper of location, the stronger was anti-radiation. However, the anti-radiation capacity was not good. For fast neutron, the anti-radiation capacity was good. For X-ray emitted by kilovoltage X-ray machine, the anti-radiation was good, and only 0.1 nun plasma sprayed boron carbide had 15% attenuation. Conclusions The plasma sprayed boron carbide coatings have the anti-radiation capacity for X-ray emitted by kilovoltage X-ray machine in medical field.

Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) has become an increasingly used methodological strategy in clinical psychology. The purpose of this paper is to outline a set of procedures for the optimizing use of SEM. The steps involved: (1) clarification of the phenomenon; (2) development of the model; (3)tesing of the model; (4) refinement of the model; and (5) assessment of the model.A research on adolescents' initiation of dieting was applied to illustrate the use of SEM.

AIM: To explore the effect of protein kinase C-?(PKC-?) in U937 cell line inhibited by short hairpin RNA(shRNA) on the transcription of vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF) mRNA induced by stromal cell-derived factor-1(SDF-1).METHODS: 64 bp reverse repeated motifs of PKC-? target sequence were synthesized and inserted into the plasmid to construct the plasmid expressing shRNA-PKC-?(pSIRENp) and the pSIRENp plasmid was transfected into U937 cell line. The expression of PKC-? and VEGF mRNA was detected by RT-PCR.RESULTS: The recombinant plasmid pSIRENp was successfully constructed and it nearly completely suppressed the PKC-? expression in U937 cell line. After transfection, both basical and VEGF mRNA induced by SDF-1 significantly reduced compared to control.CONCLUSION: The results shows that the short hairpin RNA of PKC? efficiently reduces its expression in U937 cells and PKC-? may be involved in the regulation of VEGF mRNA expression.

Objective To analyze the early CT manifestation of middle cerebral artery infarction(mMCAI).Method The case-control study of 36 cases with pairs were reviewed through comparative study for mMCAI cases and controls who had acute cerebral middle artery infarction but non-malignant,the two groups severely matched at age and sex. Results As the criteria of predictable the mMCAI,such as the insular ribbon sign, hypodensity development, hemispheric brain swelling, midline shift exhibited high specificity(80 6%,88 3%,97 2%,100%,respectively),but low sensitivity(52 8%,44 4%,16 7%,25%,respectively),Youdon Index

Journal of Leukemia & Lymphoma 2016;25(3):134-138
With the recent success of the Bruton's tyrosine kinase (BTK) inhibitor, ibrutinib, and the phosphoinositide-3-kinase (PI3K) inhibitor idelalisib in the treatment of patients with relapsed or refractory chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL), a number of new agents targeting the B cell receptor (BCR) pathway are in clinical development. In the 57th American Society of Hematology (ASH) annual meeting, great interests are still focused on these two drugs, either monotherapy or combination in the treatment of CLL. On the other hand, SYK inhibitors, new BTK and PI3K antagonists are also coming to the forefront, casting a new light on the treatment of ibrutinib/idelalisb-resistant patients. The progresses of BCR pathway inhibitors in CLL will be summarized in this paper based on the reports in the 57th ASH annual meeting.
