Objective:To investigate the effects of static ultrasound elastography on the elastic modulus of normal breast tissue. Methods: (1)Fifteen cases of normal breasts was tested by static ultrasound elastography at the same locations. Intercepted two pictures each time with one stress-free and the other compressed the maximum amount. For these two cases we measured the breast thickness and calculated the minimum stretch ratios(λ). (2)Fifty breasts with no breast nodules were prospectively enrolled in the study. Intercepted two pictures each time with one stress-free and the other compressed to the minimum stretch ratios(λ). For these two cases we measured the Elastic modulus (E0, Em, kPa). Calculate the elastic modulus change ratio (Rm/0).Results: (1)The minimum stretch ratio caused by static ultrasound elastography was 0.74±0.07. (2)The elastic modulus change ratio of static ultrasound elastography was 4.38±1.72. Conclusion: The normal operation of static ultrasound elastography caused 74 percent deformation in normal breast tissue. There was 4.38 times elastic modular increasing caused by 74 percent deformation in normal breast tissue.

BACKGROUND: We have previously reported that marine algae polysaccharide derivant can significantly promote bone cell growth.OBJECTIVE: To observe the effect of marin algae polysaccharide derivant in treatment of osteoporosis.METHODS: Sixty female Wistar rats were randomly divided into control group, treatment group and model group. There were 20 rats in each group. The rats in treatment group and model group were respectively treated with retinoic acid to induce osteoporosis. The rats in treatment group were gavaged the marine algae polysaccharide derivant 10 mg/kg, and the rats in model group were gavaged the glucose 10 mg/kg orally for 14 days. Changes of rat femur bone histological examination and histomorphometry parameters were observed.RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: The mean Trabecular Number (Tb.N), the mean Trabecular Thickness (Tb.Th) and the percent Trabecular Area (Tb.Ar%) were significantly decreased in the model group compared with control group. The mean trabecular separation (Tb.Sp) was greatly increased. After intake of marine algae polysaccharide derivant, Tb.N, Tb.Th and Tb.Ar% of the treatment group were significantly more than that of the model group. The Tb.Sp was obviously reduced. These indicate that marine algae polysaccharide derivant can increase bone mass and have a therapeutic and preventional effect on the osteoporosis.

Journal of Biomedical Engineering 2015;32(3):656-661
Intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) is widely used in coronary artery examination. Ultrasonic elastography combined with IVUS is very conspicuous in identifying plaque component and in detecting plaque vulnerability degree. In this study, a simulation model of the blood vessel based on finite element analysis (FEA) was established. The vessel walls generally have radial changes caused by different intravascular pressure. The signals at lower pressures were used as the pre-deformation data and the signals at higher pressure were used as the post-deformation data. Displacement distribution was constructed using the time-domain cross-correlation method, and then strain images. By comparison of elastograms under different pressures, we obtained the optimal pressure step. Furthermore, on the basis of the obtained optimize pressure step, the simulation results showed that this method could effectively distinguish characteristics between different component plaques, and could guide the later experiments and clinical applications.

AlM:To observe the effects of double incision combined surgery of single - stab trabeculectomy and phacoemulsification.
METHODS: Totally 28 cases ( 30 eyes ) with glaucoma and cataract undertook the modified combined surgery of single - stab trabeculectomy and phacoemulsification. After traditional phacoemulsification, cut the bulbar conjunctiva and Tenons capsule from the 11 o'clock to 1 o'clock, then puncture into the anterior chamber in 2mm behind the corneal limbus with 3mm tunnel knife, shaping a 3mm wide, 1/3-1/4 thickness scleral tunnel. Getting into the trabecular tunnel, bite off 3 pieces of trabecular tissue about 1mm × 1mm size. The changes in the imtraocular pressure ( lOP ) and the visual acuity before and after the surgery as well as filtering bleb ( OCT confirmed) and complications were carefully observed in 3-6mo postoperatively.
RESULTS: The postoperative visual acuity in 1wk postoperatively less than 0. 1 was found in 3 eyes, from 0. 1 to 0. 3 was found in 6 eyes, from 0. 3 to 0. 6 in 13 eyes, from 0. 6 to 0. 8 in 8 eyes. One eye had malignant glaucoma, and 8 eyes had cornea edema and slightly fibrin exudation in the pupil area; ln all cases maintained function conjunctival blebs of filtering, OCT confirmed this. lOP remained normal in 28 eyes in 3-6mo follow up, lOP of 2 other eyes could be controlled by anti-glaucoma eye drops.
CONCLUSlON:Double incision combined surgery of single- stab trabeculectomy and phacoemulsification is effective and safe, reduces the postoperative complications and is worthy of promotion.

Abstract?AlM: To investigate the effect of zebularine ( Zeb ) loaded Poly ( ethylene glycol ) - block - poly ( ε -caprolactone) methyl ether ( MePEG-PCL) nanoparticles ( NPs) on the viability, attachment, and apoptosis of in vitro cultured lens epithelial cells ( LECs) .?METHODS: In vitro cultured infant human lens tissue HLE B-3 immortalized cells were distributed randomly divided into six groups. Each group was administered with free Zeb 50μmol/L ( ZebF1 group ) , 100μmol/L ( ZebF2 group) , Zeb -loaded MePEG-PCL NPs 50μmol/L ( ZebNP1 group) , Zeb -loaded MePEG-PCL NPs 100μmol/L ( ZebNP2 group) , MePEG-PCL empty NPs( NPs group) or blank medium (group C) respectively. A tetrazolium dye assay ( MTT) test and modified MTT test were performed to determine cell viability and cell attachment. DNA ladder was used to detect the cell apoptosis.?RESULTS: Determined by MTT colorimetric method:Cell proliferation rate of LECs were suppressed by all Zeb administration groups in a concentration-time dependent manner (P<0. 05). Compared with the free Zeb groups, the viability of LECs were suppressed more effectively by the same dose of Zeb loaded MePEG-PCL NPs after 24, 48, 96h ( P < 0. 05 ). Determined by improved MTT colorimetric method: The attachment of LECs were decreased in all Zeb administration groups, Zeb loaded MePEG-PCL NPs had better effect on suppressing the attachment of LECs than the free Zeb groups with same dose (P<0. 05). The DNA ladder confirmed that after administration of 96h, group C, NPs group and ZebF1 group showed no DNA fragment, however the DNA fragment were performed in ZebF2, ZebNP1, ZebNP2 groups and displays the trend of ZebNP2> ZebNP1>ZebF2 (P<0. 05).?CONCLUSlON: Zeb loaded MePEG-PCL NPs had better effect on suppressing the viability and attachment of in vitro cultured LECs than the free Zeb groups , as well as enhancing the apoptosis.

Objective To investigate the clinical value of contrast-enhanced ultrasonography(CEUS) in evaluating treatment response of hepatocellular carcinoma after interventional therapy. Methods One hundred and three patients with 136 lesions of hepatocellular carcinoma confirmed by pathology were examined by common color ultrasound (US), contrast-enhanced CT, CEUS and DSA pre- and post-interventional treatment respectively. Results The sensitivity, specificity and accuracy of CEUS for focus judgment after interventional therapy were 95.8%, 95.6% and 98. 5% respectively. The sensitivity, specificity and accuracy of US in detecting tumor deactivation and residue were 92.3% ,77.4% and 83.1% respectively. CEUS were highly consistent with the results of enhanced CT/DSA (Kappa = 0.93) and significantly higher than those of US (Kappa = 0.66). Conclusions CEUS is useful to monitor the efficacy and guide treatment after interventional therapy.
