Objective To observe the effect of cyanin on the expression of L-glutamate/ L-aspartate transporter (GLAST) in high glucose cultured retina Müller cells. Methods The retinal tissue of SpragueDawley (SD) rats was collected at postnatal 10 day, and Müller cells were isolated and cultured according to literature. The Müller ceils (2nd-4th generations) were treated with five different medium as normal group (group A), high glucose control group (group B), high glucose+30 μmol/L cyanin group (group C), high glucose+60 μmol/L cyanin group (group D) and high glucose+100 μmol/L cyanin group (group E). Cell relative survival rates (A value) were measured by MTT assay at 570 nm. The GLAST protein expression in M011er cells was observed by Western blot. Results MTT assay showed that the A value of the five group were 0. 450 8±0. 020 4, 0. 270 1±0. 031 4, 0. 332 0±0. 023 2, 0. 428 3±0. 017 2, 0. 361 9±0. 027 0,the cell relative survival rate were 100. 0%, 59. 9%, 73.6%, 95%, 80.3% respectively. Western blot showed that the GLAST protein expression of group B was lower than that of group A (t=5.25, P<0. 05) ; there was no obvious changes of GLAST protein expression in group A, C, D and E (F= 2. 979, P>0.05).Conclusion Cyanin can rescue high glucose-induced GLAST reduction.

Objective To investigate the role of Gly82Ser polymorphism of receptor for advanced glycation end-products (RAGE) in the genesis and progression of colon cancer in Chinese population.Methods Using the method of PCR-restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP),the Gly82Ser genotype of RAGE were examined in 90 colon cancer patients and 78 control subjects age and sex matched.Analyses stratified by TNM and tumor differentiation were conducted to check the associations of the Gly82Ser gene polymorphisms in RAGE and development of colon cancer.Results The genotype distribution was in agreement with that predicted under Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium for both patients and controls (both P ＞ 0.05).With the GG genotype as reference,the odds ratio (OR) for heterozygous GG and carriers with S allele (GS and SS) were 2.037 (95％ CI:1.207-3.438) and 2.022 (95％ CI:1.275-3.208),respectively,which had a significantly higher risk of colon cancer.Moreover,the elevated colon cancer risk was especially evident in patients with TNM (Ⅲ + Ⅳ) and/or patients with poor differentiation by stratification analysis (OR,3.575,95％ CI:1.495-8.550 and OR,3.580,95％ CI:1.390-9.217,respectively).Conclusions The RAGE Gly82Ser polymorphism may confer not only an increased risk of colon cancer but also with invasion of colon cancer in the Chinese population.

This study compared the efficacy of non-penetrating trabecular surgery and trabeculectomy for the treatment of open angle glaucoma. We searched the Cochrane Library, PUBMED (1966 to 2009), Embase (1980 to 2009) and CMB-disk (1979 to 2009) for the randomized clinical trials (RCT) concerning the two treatment strategies. The reports, including the papers listed in bibliographies, were evaluated against a set of quality criteria and the RCTs that satisfied the criteria were selected and subjected to Meta analysis by employing the Cochrane Collaboration's RevMan 4.5 software package. A total of nine RCTs were included in the study. The analyses of the reports showed that, 12 months after surgery, there was significant difference in the reduction of interocular pressure (IOP) between non-penetrating trabecular surgery and trabeculectomy (Z=6.05 P<0.00001). There also existed statistically significant difference in the reduction of IOP at the censored time between the two procedures (Z=4.92, P<0.00001). Difference in the success rate was also found between the two surgeries (Z=3.82, P=0.0001). It is concluded that, compared with the non-penetrating trabeculectomy, the traditional trabeculectomy could reduce IOP more and had higher success rate while the non-penetrating trabecular surgery is associated with lower postoperative complications.

Objective To study the hepatotoxicity of cyclosporine-A, tacrolimus and other immunosuppressive drugs in patients with renal transplantation. Methods In 346 cases undergone renal transplantation, ALT, AST, BILT and BILD levels of venous blood 1-90 days after operation, and treatment methods and outcome were reviewed, in order to evaluate the effectiveness of the treatment of hepatotoxicity. Results In CsA group, the occurrence rate of liver dysfunction was 26.9%, in whom ALT, AST and BILD increased apparently (P0.05). Objective To compare the effects of classic intrafascial supracervical hysterectomy(CISH)and laparoscope-assisted vaginal hysterectomy(LAVH)on structure and function of the pelvic floor in women.Methods From March 2003 to December 2005,totally 35 cases of CISH and 44 cases of LAVH were performed in our hospital.The patients were followed up for 22 to 38 months after the operations.During the period,they received physical examination and life quality questionnaire,by which the degree of pelvic organ prolapse and pelvic floor function were evaluated.Results The incidence of cystocele in CISH group was significantly lower than that in LAVH group [11.4%(4/35)vs 34.1%(15/44),?2=5.481,P=0.019],whereas,no significant difference was found in the incidence of rectocele between the two groups [17.1%(6/35)vs 13.6%(6/44),?2=0.186,P=0.666].Seven(15.9%)patients in the LAVH group developed cervix prolapse,while none of the CISH group had such a situation(P=0.016).Life quality questionnaire showed that 5 patients in CISH group and 16 patients in LAVH group were satisfied with their sexual life [14.3%(5/35)vs 38.1%(16/42),?2=5.456,P=0.019].Conclusion CISH is superior to LAVH in protecting the structure and function of the pelvic floor.

Objective To observe the effect of neuropeptide Y(NPY) on the levels of serum interleukins(ILs)in guinea pigs with experimental allergic encephalomyelitis(EAE).Methods 30 guinea pigs were divided randomly into normol control group,EAE group and NPY group.The NPY was injected into the intracerebroventricular in NPY group one week before the EAE model be made.The EAE molders were made by injecting the homogenate of rat's spinal cord into the plantar of guinea pigs in groups EAE and NPY.Then,the neurological deficits score was observed everyday,the incidence and the delitescence of EAE were observed too.The levels of serum IL-1?,IL-2,IL-4,IL-6 and IL-8 were detected,and the neuropathological examination was used when symotoms peak period of EAE models.Results(1)The incidences of the EAE in groups EAE and NPY were 100% and 90%,the delitescences of EAE were(10.0?4.8)d and(25.4?12.6)d,the neurological deficits scores at the symotoms peak period were(3.60?0.52) and(1.80?1.14),respectively.There were significantly differences between the two groups(all P

Objective To observe the effect of the combined therapy on headache after craniotomy.Methods 30 patients complained severe headache after craniotomy were divided into the treatment group (n=15, received the combined therapy mainly including nerve block) and control group (n=15, received professional medicine). The visual analogue scale (VAS), admission days after surgery, and medical fees of the patients in two groups were compared.Results The VAS scores of the patients in the treatment group decreased significantly after treatment ( P<0.01), the admission days after surgery significantly shortened ( P<0.01), and the fees of examination, medicine, and ward bed significantly decreased compared with the control group.Conclusion The combined therapy mainly including nerve block is effective on headache after craniotomy.

Objective:To assess the ability of axillary reverse mapping (ARM) to identify and preserve the arm lymphatics drainage as well as determine its ability to reduce lymphedema. Methods:A total of 300 breast cancer patients who underwent axillary lymph node dissection (ALND) from June 2009 to May 2011 were enrolled in this study. Methylene blue dye (2 mL to 3 mL) was injected into the ipsilateral upper inner arm along the medial intramuscular groove to map the upper extremity lymphatic drainage system prior to ALND. The blue lymphatic and lymph nodes were identified and preserved during the operation. The change in the arm circumference was the selected method of measurement. The difference in the bilateral upper arm circumference was recorded after 2 months (difference≥2 cm is defined as lymphedema). Results:The ARM was performed successfully in 195 (65%) of 300 patients. The incidence of lymphedema was significantly lower in the successfully mapped patients than in the failing mapping patients, with statistically significant difference during follow-up at 6, 12, 18, and 24 months post operation. Conclusion:The ARM technique can identify and preserve the arm lymphatics drainage and prevent upper extremity lymphedema after breast cancer axillary lymphadenectomy.
