Objective: To investigate the efficacy of acupuncture and point injection in cooperation with Tuina and reposition for treating lumbar intervertebral disc protrusion.Methods: Treatment was given by first acupuncture, then point injection and last Tuina and reposition. It was administered once daily, 6 times as a course and compared with simple Tuina and reposition. Results: Both the effective rate in the clinical treatment and the cure rate in the same period were significantly higher in the treatment group than in the control group. Conclusion: A composite treatment by acupuncture and point injection in cooperation with Tuina and reposition is better in curative effect and shorter in the course of treatment than simple Tuina and reposition.

Background Retinal hemorrhage in newborns is a common clinical finding,and serious retinal henorrhage resulting in poor prognosis.The factors affecting retinal henorrhage in newborns are unelucidated now.Identifying these factors is helpful for the early prevention and treatment.Objective This study was to explore the underlying maternal,obstetric,and neonatal clinical factors for degree of retinal hemorrhages in healthy full-term newborns.Methods A cross-sectional study was performed in the approval of Ethic Committee of Zhongshan City People's Hospital.A total of 1 311 full-term infants,with gestational age more than 37 weeks and Apgar ≥9 scores were included in this study.Infants with severe systemic diseases or any other eye diseases were excluded.Ocular fundus of the infants were examined with Ret Cam Ⅲ within 4 days of birth and were independently identified by 2 eye doctors.The newborns of retinal hemorrhage were divided into grade Ⅰ,Ⅱ and Ⅲ groups based on Egge criteria,and the infants without retinal hemarrhage served as the normal control group.Maternal,obstetric,neonatal parameters and general factors were analyzed and compared among different groups,and the risk factors that affected the newborns retinal hemorrhage were analyzed by logistic regression analysis.Results Retinal hemorrhage was seen in 28.30％ infants (371/1 311),and 152,116 and 103 infants were identified as grade Ⅰ,Ⅱ and Ⅲ,with the percentage of 11.59％,8.85％ and 7.86％,respectively.Among the factors that examined in the study,cord around fetal neck was the risk factor of aggravation of degree of retinal hemorrhage in newborns (OR =1.308,95％ CI:1.011-1.693,P =0.041).In the mode of delivery,spontaneous vaginal delivery appeared to be the positive factor of the incidence of retinal hemorrhage (OR=0.134,95％ CI:0.132-0.137,P＜0.001),but cesarean section was not a main risk factor.Conclusions Spontaneous vaginal delivery and cord around fetal neck are the potential risk factors for the aggravation of degree of retinal hemorrhage in full-term infants.Accordingly,infants with these risk factors should be paid more attention to prevent the progression of retinal hemorrhage.

?AIM: To study correcting effect and visual quality after laser - assisted in situ keratomileusis ( LASIK ) with femtosecond and posterior chamber intraocular lens ( ICL) implantation in high myopia patients.?METHODS: Fifty-five patients ( 106 eyes ) with high myopia from February 2012 to February 2015 in our hospital were analyzed. According to the different operation, patients were divided into the observation group( using ICL implantation, 27 cases with 53 eyes) and the control group (using LASIK, 28 cases with 53 eyes). Postoperative follow-up was 1a, to observe and analyze the visual quality, higher order aberration and complications of two groups.?RESULTS: Uncorrected visual acuity ( UCVA ) , the best corrected visual acuity ( BCVA ) , effectiveness index and security index at 1a postoperatively of observation group, were 1. 04±0. 86(LogMAR), 0. 97±0. 19(LogMAR), 104. 69± 18. 56, 108. 79 ± 17. 68, significantly higher than those of control group 0. 78 ± 0. 11 ( LogMAR ), 1. 04 ± 0. 09 (LogMAR), 93.78±15. 65, 100. 71±11. 68 (P<0. 05). And observation group in the two kinds of light and shade environment at various spatial frequency contrast sensitivity were higher than the control group. Those under the light environment at 1. 5, 3, 6, 12 c/d and under dark environment at 1. 5, 3, 6, 18 c/d compared were different between the two groups (P<0. 05). Spherical aberration and comatic aberration of observation group at 1a after operation were lower than those of control group (P<0. 05 ). The difference of trefoil between the two groups was not significant ( P > 0. 05 ). No severe complications were observed in both groups.?CONCLUSION: LASIK with femtosecond and ICL lens implantation can effectively improve the patient’s visual quality, but for patients with high myopia, ICL lens implantation effect is more significant, the safety index of ICL implantation, as well as the effectiveness index and the visual quality are better than those of LASIK.

Aim To investigate the effect of Dicranostiga Leptodu (Maxim) Fedde (DLF) on experimental liver injury induced by Calmette Guerin bacillus vaccine (BCG) and Lipopolysaccharide (LPS) in mice. Methods Experimental liver injury was induced by Calmette Guerin bacillus vaccine and Lipopolysaccharide in male mice by injecting via tail vein (50 ?g?kg -1 ), and administering LPS (10 ?g?mouse -1 ) 10 d later. Therapeutic groups were given respectively with DLF (0 5,1 0,2 0 g?kg -1 ) before administration of LPS. The level of ALT, AST and LDH and the concentration of ALB and GLB in serum were measured by automatic biochemistry analyzer, and MDA in liver plasma was measured by TBA method and the level of SOD was measured by pyrogallol auto oxidation method. Pathological morphological changes in liver tissue were observed. Results The three experimental groups were found with significant decrease in the elevation of serum GPT and LDH level and the content of MDA in the liver plasma. The liver tissue damages were also ameliorated. Conclusion DLF has protective effect against the experimental liver injury induced by BCG and LPS in mice.

BACKGROUND:So far, engineered myocardium is stil facing many problems. Research has demonstrated that bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells can be differentiated into myocardial cells. Polyglycolide and polycaprolactone are commonly used artificial polymers, which have good biocompatibility.
OBJECTIVE:To observe the growth of the poly(glycolic acid)/poly(e-caprolactone) copolymer patch in vitro in normal myocardium and infarcted myocardium.
METHODS:Bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells in Sprague-Dawley rats were separated using adherent separation and selection method, cultured in vitro. The third passage was labeled with DAPI. The bone marrow mesenchymal stem cellsuspensions (2×106/cm2) were produced and planted on poly(glycolic acid)/poly(e-caprolactone) copolymer scaffolds to form poly(glycolic acid)/poly(e-caprolactone) copolymer patch. After culturing for 48 hours, the specimens were observed under electron microscope, stained with hematoxylin and eosin, and then observed under light microscope. Rat models of myocardial infarction were established by ligating left anterior descending coronary artery. Poly(glycolic acid)/poly(e-caprolactone) copolymer patch was implanted into the normal and infarcted myocardium for 5 weeks. The survival of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells was determined by the detection of pathology.
RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:Results of light microscope and electron microscope demonstrated that bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells grew three-dimensional y on poly(glycolic acid)/poly(e-caprolactone) copolymer patch. cells and patch were adhesive wel . Under laser confocal microscopy, compared with the first week, bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells were marked by DAPI in the myocardium at the fifth week. There were bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells marked by DAPI in the infracted area. Results of hematoxylin-eosin staining exhibited that bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells were detected in the infarct area. These results suggested that bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells adhered to the poly(glycolic acid)/poly(e-caprolactone) copolymer stent wel . The complexes of poly(glycolic acid)/poly(e-caprolactone) copolymer and bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells can be used for reparation of myocardium.

ObjectiveTo study tear film functions of diabetes mellitus with pterygium before and after surgery.MethodsNinety patients with single side pterygium were divided into 3 groups with 30 cases each:simple pterygium (treatment group A ),pterygium combination with type 1 diabetes mellitus (treatment group B) and pterygium combination with type 2 diabetes mellitus(treatment group C).Ninety patients without pterygium were divided into 3 groups with 30 cases each:normal (control group A),type 1 diabetes mellitus (control group B) and type 2 diabetes mellitus (control group C ).Tear film functions were compared in each group before surgery,while tear film functions in treatment group B and C were compared between before and after surgery.ResultsBefore surgery,there was no significant difference among each group in lacrimal secretion test.Every group's tear film break-up time(BUT) was abnormal except control group A.Cornea fluorescein staining (CFS) score in treatment group B compared with control group B,and treatment group C compared with control group C were significant differences [ (9.08 ± 0.48 ) scores vs.(3.43 ± 0.51 )scores and (10.31 ±0.94) scores vs. (7.91 ±0.51 ) scores,P＜0.05].There was significant difference in mucus fern test(MFT) between treatment group B and control group B (P＜0.05).Tear clearance rate (TCR) were all abnormal except control group A.Before surgery compared with after surgery between treatment group B and treatment group C,there was no significant difference in lacrimal secretion test (P＞0.05 ),but there were significant differences in BUT,CFS score and MFT,the TCR were normal.Conclusion Diabetes mellitus with pterygium will aggravate damage in tear film functions,and these damaged functions could be recovered through pterygium surgery with conjunctival limbal autograft.

Objective To compare the effects of three kinds of fixative solutions on paraffin section of mouse lens tissue and optimize the fixing?method of paraffin section in mouse lens tissue. Methods Three kinds of conventional fixatives were selected for the test ,including the conven?tional Davison’s solution,modified Davison’s solution and 10%neutral buffered formalin. Mice eyeball tissues were fixed with three different fixa?tives,embedded,sliced and then stained with HE method. The paraffin slices were observed under the light microscope. Results The structures of lens and retina fixed in conventional Davison ’s fixative solutions were clear and intact ,and the cells were arranged regularly and compactly. There was no eyeball distortion,contraction and retinal detachment in the eyeballs fixed in modified and conventional Davison’s fixative solution. However,the ones fixed in 10%neutral buffered formalin showed eyeball distortion and contraction,space and spherules. Conclusion The mice lens slides made from tissues fixed by conventional Davison ’s fixative solution are better than fixed by modified Davison ’s fixative solution and the 10%neutral buffered formalin fixed ones.

BACKGROUND: Now, dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry is international y recognized as gold standard for the diagnosis of osteoporosis, but the errors can be found in the measurement results due to the heterotopic ossification and bone hyperplasia exists in the measurement part. OBJECTIVE: To investigate the clinical significance of bone metabolic markers in the diagnosis and treatment of elderly patients with osteoporotic fractures, and to research its correlation with the changes of pathological histology and bone mineral density. METHODS: Four bone biochemical markers in 50 elderly patients with osteoporosic fractures were measured preoperatively. According to the results, 25 patients had significantly increased tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase 5b (considered as the increased tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase 5b group), and 25 patients had increased bone alkaline phosphatase (considered as the increased bone alkaline phosphatase group). During operation, the bone tissues of eight patients in each group were treated with hematoxylin-eosin staining and electron microscopy scanning in order to detect the pathological changes. After operation, the patients in the increased tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase 5b group received salmon calcitonin anti-osteoporosis treatment, and the patients in the increased bone alkaline phosphatase group received the anti-osteoporosis treatment of bone peptide injection. The bone mineral density and the four bone biochemical markers were detected again at 6 months after treatment. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: There were no significant differences in the preoperative bone mineral density and four biomechanical markers between two groups (P > 0.05). The pathological examination results of bone tissue on the fracture site showed that the number of osteoblasts was reduced and the number of oeteoclasts was increased in the increased tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase 5b group; while in the increased bone alkaline phosphatase group, the pathological examination results showed the number of osteoblasts was reduced; the trabecular bone/bone area ratio was decreased in two groups, and there was a significant difference in the decrease degree between two groups (P < 0.05). The electron microscope scanning showed that the osteoclasts of two groups were more active than that of the normal group. The sloppy of trabecular bone in the increased tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase 5b group was more obvious than that in the increased bone alkaline phosphatase group, and the absorption vacuoles were increased. There were significant differences in the bone mineral density and four biomechanical markers between two groups before and after anti-osteoporosis treatment (P < 0.05). The detection of bone metabolic markers could help us to make it clearly that the main function of osteoblast reduce or osteoclast increase in bone tissue of patients, and guide us to use anti-osteoporosis drugs in target. Pathological histology examination can better reflect the condition of osteoblasts, osteoclasts and trabecular bone in bone tissue on the fracture site. Target application of anti-osteoporosis drugs in the osteoporosis patients can effectively improve the efficacy and reduce the relative complications.

BACKGROUND:Autologous peripheral blood hematopoietic stem cell transplantation,as the current latest therapy is widely used in the treatment of autoimmune diseases,however,the treatment on myasthenia gravis is still in the primary stage.OBJECTIVE:To create the model of myasthenia gravis with autologous peripheral blood hematopoietic stem cell transplantation in rats and to observe clinical manifestation,attenuation rate of repetitive nerve electric stimulation action potential and titer of serum acetylcholine receptor Ab in the models.DESIGN,TIME AND SETTING:The randomized control animal experiment was performed at the Human Anatomy Laboratory,Medical College of Zhengzhou University between July and December 2007.MATERIALS:Totally 50 female Wistar rats were randomly assigned into four groups,a normal group(n=10),an adjuvant control group(n=10),a stem cell transplantation group(n=15),and a model control group(n=15).METHODS:Rats in the normal group were intact.Rats in the adjuvant group were subjected to the same volume of saline and cyclophosphamide.Rats in the stem cell transplantation group were used to make experimental autoimmune myasthenia gravis by intraperitoneally infusing with serum of myasthenia gravis patients.Bone marrow stem cells were mobilized by granulocyte colony-stimulating factor.Autologous peripheral blood stem cells were collected and then were transplanted via tail vein injection after the pretreatment regimen of cyclophosphamide.Rats in the model control group were treated with an equal volume of peripheral blood,and with other procedures as the stem cell transplantation group.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES:Swimming time and survival rate of rats from each group after stem cell transplantation;attenuation rate of repetitive nerve electric stimulation action potential and titer of serum acetylcholine receptor Ab were measured at 4 and 9 weeks after stem cell transplantation.RESULTS:The survival rate was higher in the stem cell transplantation group than in the model control group(P
