Objective To explore the role of specific AT rich sequence binding protein 1(SATB1) and wnt/β-catenin signaling pathways in the regulation of trophoblast invasion and its effect in the pathogenesis of preeclampsia. Methods From March 2013 to March 2014, 20 cases of human villous tissues (early pregnancy group) from women of 8-10 gestational weeks who received artificial abortion at the First Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University, 18 cases of placental tissues (mid-pregnancy group) from women of 18-20 gestational weeks who had labor induction by water bag, 20 cases of placental tissues (normal full-term group) from healthy full-term pregnancy women and 20 cases of placental tissues (preeclamptic group) from women with preeclampsia who received elective c-section in were collected. Immunohistochemical SP method was utilized to determine the position of SATB1 and beta-catenin in villous tissues or placental tissues. Western blot was performed to analyze the expression level of SATB1 and beta-catenin in villous tissues or placental tissues. Immunofluorescence assay was used to determine the location of SATB1 andβ-catenin in HTR8/SVneo cells. Western blot was performed to detect the expression level of SATB1 and beta-catenin in HTR8/SVneo cells cultured in normoxia and hypoxia reoxygenation(H/R) condition. Co-Immunoprecipitation detection was used to evaluate the interaction between SATB1 andβ-catenin in placental tissues in preeclamptic group and HTR8/SVneo cells in H/R group. Gelatin zymography analysis was used to measure the activity of matrix metalloproteinases(MMP)-2 and 9 in placental tissues from preeclamptic group and HTR8/SVneo cells in H/R group. Results (1) In the normal full-term group, rare syncytiotrophoblastic nodule, less fibrinoid necrosis and abundant numbers of capillary could be observed in placental tissues. In comparison, there were obvious vacuolation in the cytoblast of syncytiotrophoblast, rich fibrinoid necrosis and poor numbers of villous capillary in placental tissues from preeclamptic group. (2) SATB1 could be found by immunochemical staining in placenta or villous tissues from all the groups. The staining intensity of SATB1 were more weakening in preeclamptic group than in the normal full-term group. (3) β-catenin could be found by immunochemical staining in placenta or villous tissues from all the groups. The staining intensity of β-catenin were more weakening in preeclamptic group than in the normal full-term group. (4) The protein expression levels of SATB1 in early pregnancy group, mid-pregnancy group, normal full-term group and preeclamptic group were 0.300 ± 0.009, 0.271 ± 0.015, 0.238 ± 0.018 and 0.153 ± 0.007, respectively. The protein levels of β-catenin among the above groups were 0.743±0.041, 0.648±0.021, 0.549±0.069 and 0.269±0.047, respectively. Both the expression of SATB1 andβ-catenin protein were significant decreased in placental tissues from preeclamptic group compared with the other three groups. (5) The SATB1 andβ-catenin protein was located in nucleus of trophoblast and a small amount was in the cytoplasm. The fluorescence intensity of both SATB1 and β-catenin in the H/R group were significantly decreasing when compared to the normoxia group. (6) HTR8/SVneo cells in H/R group showed a significant decrease in both SATB1 andβ-catenin protein levels when compared to the normoxia group. The protein level of SATB1 in the normoxia group was 0.213 ± 0.005, while was 0.083 ± 0.021 in the H/R group. The protein level ofβ-catenin in the normoxia group was 0.797±0.081, and was 0.543±0.131 in the H/R group. (7) There was an interaction between SATB1 and β-catenin in placental tissues from the preeclamptic group and HTR8/SVneo cells exposed by H/R. (8) The enzymatic activity of MMP-2 and MMP-9 protein were decreased significantly in placental tissues from the preeclamptic group (2.251±0.310, 1.447 ± 0.102, respectively) when compared to the normal full-term group (7.098 ± 0.451, 5.502 ± 0.197, respectively). MMP-2 and MMP-9 were significantly decreased in the H/R group (0.471 ± 0.104, 0.297 ± 0.103, respectively) when compared to the normoxia group (0.842 ± 0.209, 0.595 ± 0.100, respectively). Conclusion The expression of SATB1 decreased in the placenta of preeclampsia. This may influence the activity of MMP-2 and 9 by regulating Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathways, affect trophoblast invasion and eventually result in preeclampsia.

Objective To address the neural basis of Chinese idioms processing with different kinds of stimuli using an event-related fMRI design. Methods Sixteen native Chinese speakers were asked to perform a semantic decision task during fMRI scanning.Three kinds of stimuli were used: Real idioms (Real-idiom condition);Literally plausible phrases (Pseudo-idiom condition, the last character of a real idiom was replaced by a character with similar meaning);Literally implausible strings (Non-idiom condition, the last character of a real idiom was replaced by a character with unrelated meaning).Reaction time and correct rate were recorded at the same time. Results The error rate was 2.6%,5.2% and 0.9% (F = 3.51,P0.05 )for real idioms,pseudo-idioms and wrong idioms, respectively.Similar neural network was activated in all of the three conditions. However, the right hippocampus was only activated in the real idiom condition, and significant activations were found in anterior portion of left inferior frontal gyrus (BA47)in real-and pseudo-idiom conditions, but not in non-idiom condition. Conclusion The right hippocampus plays a specific role in the particular wording of the Chinese idioms. And the left anterior inferior frontal gyms (BA47)may be engaged in the semantic processing of Chinese idioms. The results support the notion that there were specific neural bases for Chinese idioms processing.

OBJECTIVETo identify patterns of hand, foot and mouth disease (HFMD) incidence in China during declining incidence periods of 2008, 2009, and 2010.
METHODSReported HFMD cases over a period of 25 months were extracted from the National Disease Reporting System (NDRS) and analyzed. An interrupted time series (ITS) technique was used to detect changes in HFMD incidence rates in terms of level and slope between declining incidence periods of the three years.
RESULTSOver 3.58 million HFMD cases younger than 5 years were reported to the NDRS between May 1, 2008, and May 31, 2011. Males comprised 63.4% of the cases. ITS analyses demonstrated a significant increase in incidence rate level (P<0.0001) when comparing the current period with the previous period. There were significant changes in declining slopes when comparing 2010 to 2009, and 2010 to 2008 (all P<0.005), but not 2009 to 2008.
CONCLUSIONIncremental changes in incidence rate level during the declining incidence periods of 2009 and 2010 can potentially be attributed to a few factors. The more steeply declining slope in 2010 compared with previous years could be ascribed to the implementation of more effective interventions and preventive strategies in 2010. Further investigation is required to examine this possibility.

OBJECTIVETo explore the effect of new model for tuberculosis (TB) control and management, and provide a scientific basis and justification for making TB control strategies in rural communities.
METHODSAmong those townships with low TB service accessibility by the county TB control institute in Guangxi Xingye county (population of 679 thousands), four townships with total population of 152 518 and inconvenient transportation, were selected as the experimental group to conduct a new model research project.Based on the accessibility for community services, setting diagnosis and treatment management centers in township hospitals, employing family treatment supporters to supervise the treatment process. The TB cases of the base-line and the project expiration of the experimental group were 44 and 117. Meanwhile, three townships including Dapingshan, Longan and Gaofeng in the county with the similar condition and total population of 133 303 were selected as the control group. The control group conducted the provisions of national TB control program in the county TB clinic management. The TB cases of the base-line and the project expiration of the control group were 56 and 110. By double-direction comparison method, the effect of the new model was evaluated through TB patients detection, treatment outcomes and TB control management data. SPSS 13.0 statistical software was adopted and Chi-square test was used for analyzing technical data.
RESULTSAfter two-year project research implementation, in the experimental group the detection rate of new smear-positive TB patients increased from 16.39/100 000 (25/152 518) to 51.14/100 000 (78/152 518) (χ(2) = 27.281, P < 0.01), the cure rate of new smear-positive cases increased from 71.4% (15/21)to 91.1% (51/56) (χ(2) = 4.812, P < 0.05), and the completing treatment rate in newly diagnosed smear-negative cases improved from 23.5% (4/17)to 71.4% (15/21) (χ(2) = 8.622, P < 0.01); the loss rate of newly diagnosed smear-positive cases dropped from 23.8% (5/21) to 0.0% (0/56) (χ(2) = 10.608, P < 0.01), and the loss rate of newly diagnosed smear-negative cases decreased from 64.7% (11/17) to 4.8% (1/21) (χ(2) = 15.624, P < 0.01). Meanwhile, the cure rate of new smear-positive cases in the experimental group, 91.1% (51/56), was higher than the control group, 72.0% (36/50) (χ(2) = 6.531, P < 0.05). The loss rate of newly diagnosed smear-positive cases in the experimental group (0.0% (0/56)) was lower than the control group (16.0% (8/50)) (χ(2) = 7.534, P < 0.01). During the project implementation, in the experimental group the on time rate of taking medicine, 91.5% (107/117) and receiving medicine, 100.0% (117/117), the reexamining sputum ratio, 83.6% (98/117) were higher than that in the control group: 81.8% (90/110), 92.7% (102/110) and 64.5% (71/110). The differences were statistically significant (χ(2) = 4.589, 8.820 and 11.005, P < 0.05).
CONCLUSIONThe new management model had been proved effective. It can improve TB case detection and cure rates, reduce the loss rate of patients, and improve patient treatment and management conditions as well.

OBJECTIVETo assess the effects of ambient air pollutants on hospital outpatient visits for allergic disease and pollinosis.
METHODSThe monitoring data of daily air pollution (SO(2), NO(2) and PM(10)) in 8 national monitoring and controlling sites of Beijing air quality, airborne pollen in 4 monitoring sites of Beijing, and daily meteorological data, along with the daily numbers of outpatients visits for allergic disease and pollinosis at the Allergy Department of Beijing Shijitan Hospital from April to September in 2004 were collected. Associations between the levels of air pollutants and outpatient visits for allergic disease and pollinosis were estimated by time serial analysis using a generalized addictive model (GAM), considering lag effect and the influence of multipollutants.
RESULTSDuring the study period, the average daily ambient concentrations of SO(2), NO(2) and PM(10) were (20.9 ± 12.9), (58.6 ± 13.6) and (126.8 ± 64.1) µg/m(3), respectively. The mean daily pollen count was (163.8 ± 209.0) grains/1000 mm(2), while the average daily numbers of doctor visits for allergic disease and pollinosis were (16.3 ± 5.3) and (3.5 ± 5.0), respectively. Time serial analysis showed that significant positive associations were found between levels of airborne pollen and doctor visits, with an excess risk (ER) of 2.44% (95%CI: 0.75% - 4.13%)for allergic disease and 6.58% (95%CI: 3.82% - 9.34%) for pollinosis per 100 grains/1000 mm(2) increase in pollen, in single-pollutant models. There were associations between ambient air pollutants (SO(2), NO(2), PM(10)) and doctor visits with lag effects. A 10 µg/m(3) increase in NO(2) was associated with a 3.14% (95%CI: 0.42% - 5.85%) increase in doctor visits for allergic disease at lag 6 d. For pollinosis, the highest ER was observed for 10 µg/m(3) increases in SO(2) at lag 1 d, NO(2) at lag 6 d, PM(10) at lag 3 d. However, this association was not statistically significant (RR (95%CI) were 1.0460 (0.9640 - 1.1280), 1.0325 (0.9633 - 1.1017), 1.0079 (0.9942 - 1.0217), respectively). The associations enhanced slightly in multi-pollutant models with an ER of 2.56% (95%CI: 0.80% - 4.31%) for allergic disease and 6.81% (95%CI: 3.91% - 9.71%) for pollinosis per 100 grains/1000 mm(2) of pollen.
CONCLUSIONSOur results suggest that level of airborne pollen may have a stronger effect than ambient air pollutants on allergic disease and pollinosis.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the methods of preoperative diagnosis and differentiation of different pathological tissue in middle ear and mastoid.
METHODSThe temporal bone lamellar CT findings in 106 patients with chronic suppurative otitis media (including cholesteatoma) were retrospectively analyzed. The CT value of pathological tissue were measured for 183 times and were compared with the surgical findings and postoperative pathological findings to definitude the CT value range of different pathological tissue. Sixty patients taken from 106 patients at random were analyzed and made the diagnosis again by the same doctor team according to the CT value of the different pathological tissue and surrounding histoclasia resulted by pathological tissue. The diagnose accordance rate was compared with the routine diagnose report from radiology department. The predetective diagnosis was made in 10 patients with chronic suppurative otitis media according to clinical manifestation (pathological changes of tympanic membrane, nature of otorrhea, character of hearing), temporal bone lamellar CT finding (CT value of pathological tissue, surrounding histoclasia) to validate the value of this study for preoperative diagnosis and differentiation of different pathological tissue in middle ear and mastoid.
RESULTSThe CT value of cholesteatoma, granulation tissue, cholesteatoma combined with granulation tissue, effusion, calcified tissue, thickened and polypoid membrane was respectively (46.6 +/- 10.3) Hu, (26.6 +/-7.4) Hu, (42.1 +/- 11.4) Hu, (- 24.6 +/- 9.2) Hu, (223.6 +/- 63.7) Hu, (23.8 +/- 8.5) Hu. The diagnose accordance rate in 60 patients who were analyzed and made diagnosis again according to the CT value of the different pathological tissue and surrounding histoclasia resulted by pathological tissue raised from 68. 3% to 81.7% ( P < 0.05) . The predetective diagnose accordance rate reached at 90% according to clinical manifestation, temporal bone lamellar CT.
CONCLUSIONSIt was not reliable to diagnose and differentially diagnose different pathological tissue in middle ear and mastoid only by the CT value, however, the CT value could still be considered to be a very significant information. The accurate rates of diagnosis and differentiation of different pathological tissue in middle ear and mastoid obviously raised by synthetically analyzing various kinds of pathological tissues in middle ear and mastoid according to clinical manifestation, temporal bone lamellar CT finding.
