1.Clinical Value of Peripheral Vessel Diagnostic System on TCM Syndrome Differentiation of Diabetes
Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine 1993;0(02):-
Objective To observe the relation between functions of vessels of lower extremities and TCM syndromes differentiation in diabetes patients. Methods Totally 168 diabetics of Type II were differentiated into 5 syndromes, i.e. 29 cases of yin deficiency with excessive heat, 41 cases of qi and yin deficiency, 30 cases of yin and yang deficiency, 37 cases of blood stasis in channels, and 31 cases of damp heat affecting the spleen, and 26 healthy people were involved in the control group. The peripheral vessel diagnostic system was adopted to get the toe photoplethysmogram (PPG) and ankle brachial index (ABI) to observe the blood perfusion of limb terminals and the functional state of lower limb arteries. The relation between function of vessels of lower extremities and TCM syndrome was analyzed. Results All the diabetic groups were related with the arterial blood supply of toe terminals. Diabetes was the main risk factor in affecting the terminal blood supply (P

International Eye Science 2015;(8):1353-1357
SUMOylation is a post - translational modification consisting of covalent conjugation of ubiquitin - like proteins called small ubiquitin related modifier ( SUMO ) . SUMO modification has been shown to significantly alter protein activity, which can modulate protein stability, affect protein-protein interactions, and modify protein localization and trafficking. This process adds another layer of control in eukaryote gene expression, and it regulates both transcriptional activation and repression. This article reviews the current situation and future development of SUMOylation in ophthalmology.

Objective To explore the influence of TAC protocol (pirarubicin, cyclophosphamide and docetaxel) and AC-T protocol (pirarubicin, cyclophosphamide and sequential docetaxel) on T lymphocytes cell subsets (included CD3+ T cells,CD3+ CD4+ T cells,CD3+ CD8+ T cells,CD3+ CD4+/CD3 + CD8+),natural killer (NK) cells and part of the quality of life in the peripheral blood of patients. Methods A total of 66 patients with breast cancer included 31 cases for TAC protocol (6 cycles of chemotherapy) and 35 cases for AC-T protocol(8 cycles of chemotherapy).Collected respectively before and after the last chemotherapy of peripheral blood, used flow cytometry technique to detect the proportion of T cell subsets and NK cells in peripheral blood, and compared the change of the part of the quality of life before and after chemotherapy. Results After chemotherapy of total of 66 patients CD3+ T cells,CD3+ CD4+T cells and NK cells of peripheral blood ((68.58± 11.03) %,(33.53 ± 8.84) %,(18.27 ± 10.65) %) significantly lower than before chemotherapy ((74.03±13.04)%,(38.42±9.79)%,(19.83± 10.19)%),the differences were statistically significant(t =4.296,3.387,4.092,P< 0.05).Grouping was TAC protocol with AC-T,T cell subsets and NK cells before chemotherapy differences had no statistical significance. But after chemotherapy,CD3+ T cells,CD3+ CD4+T cells,CD3+CD8+ T cells and Karnofky score((64.63±10.01)%,(31.19±7.41)%,(24.66±7.40)%,(68.63± 5.100)%) of peripheral blood on TAC protocol were more decreased than AC-T protocol((72.29± 10.78)%,(35.74± 9.60) %,(30.15 ± 11.12) %,(77.29 ± 4.58) %),the differences were statistically significant (t =2.99,2.15,2.35,2.237,P<0.05).CD3+ CD4+/CD3+ CD8+ and NK cells were also decreased, but without statistical significance. The body quality of 66 patients was slightly increased after chemotherapy, but without statistical significance. Conclusion The body's immune function and the part of quality of the breast cancer patient's life have declined by chemotherapy drugs in varying degrees.Compared TAC,AC-T protocol has less influence on the immunological function and the part of living quality of patients with breast cancer.

Aim To investigate the chemical compo-nents and antibacterial and nematicidal activity of en-doparasitic fungi ThF-1 1 of Tripterygium hypoglaucum (Levl.)Hutch.Methods The endophyte ThF-1 1 was isolated, purified and identified based on fungal ITS sequence. The chemical components were isolated and identified with column chromatography and NMR spec-trometer,respectively.The nematicidal and antibacte-rial activity was investigated by biological active meth-od and inhibition zone method. Results The endo-phyte ThF-1 1 was identified as Penicillium simplicissi-mum,the compounds were identified as Penicillic acid [1 ],2,4-dimethoxy-6-methylphenol [2]and 5 (6)-dihydropenicillic acid [3 ] based on spectral data. Compound [1 ]showed significant activity against Cae-norhabditis elegans in a dose-dependent manner, and had antibacterial activity to Escherichia coli,Bacillus cereus,Bacillus subtilis, Staphylococcus aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Conclusion These com-pounds are firstly isolated from endophyte ThF-1 1 of T. hypoglaucum (Levl.)Hutch.Compound [1 ]shows strong nematicidal activity and antibacterial activity, and is worth further studying and developing.

Chinese Journal of Applied Physiology 2014;30(3):208-212
OBJECTIVETo explore the effects of arecoline on hepatic insulin resistance in type 2 diabetes rats and to elucidate its possible mechanism.
METHODSForty five Wistar rats were fed with high fructose diet for 12 weeks to induce type 2 diabetic rat model. rats were randomly divided into 5 groups (n = 8): control group, model group and model group were treated with different dose (0, 0.5, 1, 5 mg/kg) of arecoline. After 4 weeks, the fasting blood glucose, blood lipid and insulin level measured , mRNA expression of liver constitutive androstane receptor (CAR), pregnane X receptor (PXR), glucose-6-phosphatase (G6Pase), phosphoenolpyruvate carboxykinase (PEPCK), interleukin-6 (IL-6) and tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha) were detected by reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR), the protein expression of p-AKT and glucose transporter4 (GLUT4) were detected by Western blot.
RESULTS1.5 mg/kg arecoline could significantly decrease the level of fasting blood glucose, blood lipid, blood insulin level and liver G6Pase, PEPCK, IL-6, TNF-alpha mRNA level in type 2 diabetes rats. 1.5 mg/kg arecoline also could significantly increase CAR, PXR mRNA level and p-AKT and GLUT4 protein expression.
CONCLUSIONArecoline improved hepatic insulin resistance in type 2 diabetes rats by increasing the mRNA levels of CAR and PXR leading to the creased glucose metabolism and inflammation related genes expression.
