The effect of saliva contamination on the shear bond strength of orthodontic brackets, at various stages of the bonding procedure using a new self-etch primer was studied. The samples were divided into 4 groups according to 4 different enamel surface conditions: Group A: dry; Group B: saliva contamination before priming; Group C: saliva contamination after priming, and Group D: saliva contamination before and after priming. Stainless steel brackets were bonded in each test group with a light-cured composite resin (TransbondXT 3M). The shear bond strength was determined in the first 30 min after bonding. The analysis of variance indicated that the shear bond strengths of the 4 groups were significantly different (F = 11.89, P < 0.05). Tukey HSD tests indicated that contamination both before and after the application of the acid-etch primer resulted in a significantly lower (=4.6 +/- 1.7 MPa) shear bond strength than either the control group (=8. 8 +/- 1.9 MPa) or the groups where contamination occurred either before ( = 7.9 +/- 2.0 MPa) or after (= 6. 9 +/- 1.5 MPa) the application of the primer. It was concluded that the new acid-etch primer could maintain adequate shear bond strength if contamination occurred either before or after the application of the primer. On the other hand, contamination both before and after the application of the primer could significantly reduce the shear bond strength of orthodontic brackets.

Objective To study the role of pro inflammatory cytokines tumor necrosis factor?(TNF ?),interleukin 1beta(IL 1?),interleukin 6(IL 6) and anti inflammatory cytokines interleukin 4(IL 4),interleukin 10(IL 10),interleukin 13(IL 13) in acute lung injury(ALI). Methods Wistar Rats (200?50g) were randomly divided into the oleic acid(OA) and Lipoplysaccharide(LPS) induced lung injury experimental group and the only OA induced lung injury control group. The LPS(2mg/kg) was injected in rat's tail vein at the 1, 4, 12 and 24 hours after administration of OA(0.2ml/kg, iv). Reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction(RT PCR) were used to detecting the expression of TNF ?, IL 1?, IL 6 and IL 4, IL 10, IL 13 mRNA in the lung tissue of rats in two groups. Results The results showed that the peak expression of TNF ? and IL 1? mRNA at one hour after first hit by oleic acid, and IL 6 mRNA at four hours were observed. Others, such as IL 4, IL 10 and IL 13 mRNA, the highest levels in lung tissue at four hours after lung injury induced by oleic acid. Conclusions The results suggested that TNF ? and IL 1? are presenting early phase of ALI, and that IL 6 played its important role in delayed development. The over expression of anti inflammatory cytokines IL 4, IL 10 and IL 13 may be as a promoters rather than protectors in inflammatory amplification.

It is revealed that noninvasive examining fetal cells from peripheral blood of pregnant women for diagnosis of sex-linked inherited diseases is significant valuable.

Objective To investigate the clinicopathological features of central nervous system hemangioblastoma in von Hippel-Lindau syndrome.Methods The data of 10 patients with central nervous system hemangioblastoma in our hospital since 2013 were analyzed retro-spectively,and the clinicopathological features of central nervous system hemangioblastoma in von Hippel-Lindau syndrome were summarized. Results The macroexamination result showed that most tumor lesions were found in the cerebellum and medulla oblongata,with cystic chan-ges,size from 1 cm to 5 cm,the average size was (3.1 ±0.2)cm,clear boundary,intracapsular yellow cyst fluid.The microscopy result showed tumor foci with a rich blood supply,endothelial cell proliferation and hypertrophy in vascular,which arranged in nests or lobulated mesenchymal cells,the cytoplasm of stromal cells was abundant and lightly stained,a rich lipid was seen,with vesicular or foam.Conclusion The von Hippel-Lindau syndrome is usually cystic lesion,the microscopic examination shows tumor foci with rich blood supply,endothelial cell proliferation,hypertrophy and other changes in vascular.

?Objective: To study the methodology of the culture of Schwann cells derived from degenerated peripheral nerve. Method: Sciatic nerve of adult rats was surgically cut. 14 days after operation, the degenerated nerve tissue was obtained and treated with trypsin and collagenase typeⅡ to prepare single cell suspension,the cells were purified by different speed of attachment and digestion, and incubated on ZQ membrane in the presence of 10 -5 mol/L cytosine arabinoside. The growth of the cells of passage 2 was studied by MTT assay. Schwann cells were identified with anti S100 immumohistochemistry. Results: The cultured cells were spindly in shape and 95% of them were S100 positive. The population doubling time of passage 2 cells was 72 h.The cells attached and stretched on ZQ membrane as well as on the culture vessel surface. Conclusion: Schwann cells can be cultured and purified by predegeneration of the peripheral nerve,different speed of attachment and digestion and the presence of cytosine arabinoside. The cells can grow well on ZQ membrane.

Objective:To observe HSP70 expression during experimental tooth movement in rats.Methods:Orthodontic appliance was placed between the maxillary right first molar and maxillary central incisors of 30 adult SD rats.The rats were killed at 1,3,5,7,14 d after orthodontic force application,samples of experimental teeth with periodontal tissue were prepared for immunohistochemical examination of HSP70 expression.Result:Strong expression of HSP 70 in periodontal ligment was observed at 1 and 3 d after orthodontic force application,positive at 5 d and weak positive at 7 and 14 d.Conclusion:HSP 70 is expressed in periodontal ligment at different levels in different stages during orthodontic tooth movement.

[Objective]To evaluate short term clinic results of prosthetic disc nucleus(PDN)replacement for the treatment of lumbar disc herniation.[Method]Twenty cases of lumbar disc herniation(including one case of recurrent lumbar disc herniation)were treated with PDN from June 2003 to November 2003,including 13 males and 7 females with average age of 40.5 years.All cases were implanted with a single PDN,in which 7 cases with PR725,8 cases with PW725,and 5 cases with PDN-SOLO-7 respectively.[Result]After surgery,one patient accepted the revision operation to remove the PDN because of device migration,the others experienced pain relief.The nineteen cases were followed-up for 23～29 months(mean 26.4 months).Compared with preoperative height of intervertebral disc,it gained increase of 17.2%(P
