Objective: To explore the relevant factors of acquired swallowing disorders in adult patients after cardiac surgery. Methods: A Jiatian water swallowing screening test was conducted for adult patients after cardiac surgery in our hospital from 2015-03 to 2015-09. There were 32 patients with acquired swallowing disorder deifned as Case group and meanwhile 420 patients without swallowing disorder at the same word deifned as Control group. Non-conditional Logistic regression analysis was applied to study the relevant factors for acquired swallowing disorders. Results: The overall incidence of acquired swallowing disorders was 7.08%. Multi Logistic regression analysis presented that duration of endotracheal intubation (OR=1.060,P<0.001), pre-operative arrhythmia (OR=2.780,P=0.019), NYHA grade (OR=1.789, P=0.033) and Euroscore (OR=1.216,P=0.040) were the relevant factors for the occurrence of acquired swallowing disorders in adult patients after cardiac surgery. Conclusion: Medical professionals should pay special attention to patients with above mentioned risk features at post-operative drinking to reduce the complications of acquired swallowing disorders.

BACKGROUND:It is confirmed that the absence of hypoxia-inducible factor-1α (HIF-1α) accelerates the degenerative process in the intervertebral discs, and microRNAs have an important role in degeneration of the intervertebral discs.
OBJECTIVE:To evaluate the changes of microRNAs in the intervertebral discs of HIF-1α-deficient (HIF-1α-/-) mice which may mediate the signaling pathway of HIF-1α in the intervertebral discs.
METHODS: As previously reported, HIF-1α-/- mice were established. HIF-1α-/- mice and HIF-1αflox/flox mice (control mice) aged 4 weeks were used. MRI and histological staining were used to evaluate the degeneration of the intervertebral discs. Total RNAs were extracted from the intervertebral discs tissues by Trizol, and the differential expression profile of microRNAs was harvested by significance analysis of microarrays and Cluster, based on microarray screening. Real-time quantitative reverse transcription-PCR was applied to verify the reliability of microRNA array results.
RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:The number of nucleus pulposus cels in the intervertebral discs of HIF-1α-/- mice was decreased, the cels presented with smal size and the color deepened in the cytoplasm. Finaly, differential expression profile of microRNAs (n=10) was obtained, seven of which were upregulated and three were downregulated. In conclusion, the loss of HIF-1α may cause the imbalance of some important miRNAs, which may result in a large amount of dead nuclear pulposus cels and mediate disc degeneration in HIF-1α-/- mice.

Objective To explore the imaging features of liver tumors with real-time tissue elastography. Methods Eighty-five liver lesions in 67 cases were scanned with conventional ultrasonography and elastography using HI-Vision900 system and then assessed with grade scores. Results on ultrasound were compared with those on pathology. Results Majority of lesions with grade a-b on elastography were identified as benign on pathology, while most of masses with grade c-e on elastography were confirmed as malignant on pathology. The sensitivity, specificity and accuracy were 93.5%, 87.0% and 91.8% for elastography to detect malignant lesions,74.2% ,73.4% and 74.1% for conventional ultrasound. The Kappa value of two doctors on elastography in group Ⅰ (the depth of the lesion ≤10cm) was significantly higher than group Ⅱ (the depth of the lesion >10cm).Conclusions Real-time tissue elastography of liver tumors provides a new convenient,non-invasive diagnostic methods, contribute to identify the benign and malignant live tumors.

Due to the importance of molecular mechanisms of drug actions, network pharmacology has become a new perspective on drug mechanism research and novel drug discovery. Drug target prediction using computational methods, is one of the key research topics in network pharmacology. This paper reviewed the related research on drug target prediction methods. Furthermore, general principles of drug target prediction methods and key steps of them in recent years were summarized. Given the diversity of Chinese medicine ingredients, the network controlla-bility of herbs and the lack of high-quality pharmacological data, the network regulation mechanism of Chinese herb research will meet even more difficulties than modern drug research. Therefore, this paper also discussed main is-sues and research trends of Chinese herb target prediction. Finally, combining with the actual consolidated network data of Chinese herbs, chemical structure similarity computation and link prediction methods, the network-based herb target prediction method was proposed to demonstrate key research steps. Furthermore, we discussed the most significant research topics that we should addressed to enhance the high quality results of herb target prediction.

Objective To investigate the incidence and clinical presentation of breast milk transmitted cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection among preterm infants with birth weight≤1500 g.Methods Preterm infants enrolled in this study met the following inclusion criteria: birth weight≤1500 g, fed with CMV-positive breast milk and admitted into Neonatal Intensive Care Unit of Children's Hospital of Fudan University within 72 hours after birth from October 2015 to July 2016. And those with congenital digestive tract malformation or congenital CMV infection were excluded. Breast milk and infants' urine samples were regularly screened for CMV DNA by fluorescent quantitative polymerase chain reaction. Symptoms and laboratory findings in infants with CMV infection transmitted via breast milk were documented and analyzed. Differences in relevant parameters were analyzed usingChi-square test, Fisher's exact test,t test or Mann-WhitneyU test where appropriately. Results Sixty preterm infants breastfed with CMV DAN-positive milk were recruited. Among them, 19 (31.7%) developed breast milk-acquired CMV infection as their urine samples were positive for CMV DNA, while the others were negative for CMV DNA (infected group:n=19; non-infected group:n=41). The average CMV copies in breast milk, gestational age and birth weight of the infected group were all significantly higher than those of the non-infected group [3.76 (3.18-4.50) vs 3.47 (3.00-4.88) Log10 copies/ml,Z=-2.042;(30.4±2.1) vs (28.4±2.3) weeks,t=3.175; 1290 (750-1500) vs 1110 (575-1480) g,Z=-2.837; all P<0.05). Fewer infants in the infected group than in the non-infected group received blood transfusion [5/19 vs 56.1%(23/41),χ2=4.627,P<0.05]. Ages of the infants with CMV infection ranged from 26 to 164 days (median age of 92 days). Six out of the 19 infants had clinical symptoms concurrent with viral excretion in urine and the ages of these symptomatic infants of infection were earlier than those of the asymptomatic ones without significance [(72±34) vs (97±28) days,t=-1.710,P>0.05]. Four infants (21.1%, 4/19) had severe organ damage and/or positive IgM antibodies to CMV in serum, and were treated with antiviral therapy. Two had mild symptoms and were not given antiviral therapy. All of the six symptomatic infants were followed-up for one to six months, during which time the complete blood cell count and results of biochemical test and fundus examination were back to normal. Conclusions The incidence of breast milk-acquired CMV infection among preterm infants with birth weight≤ 1500 g was 31.7%, and no severe symptoms were reported in this study.

West China Journal of Stomatology 2013;31(1):107-111
The human resident microorganisms constitute the second genome of human body. Oral microbiome is closely related to the oral and systemic health and diseases. Implementation of high-throughput gene chip and second-generation sequencing has gained in-depth characterization of the oral microbiome, changing our view on host-microbe interactions. In this review, we summarized the latest progress in oral microbial metagenomics and addressed its potential value in the prevention and treatment of oral diseases and other systemic disorders.
