As a multifunctional cytokine,transforming growth factor-?(TGF-?) has many biological effects. It controls the extracellular matrix synthesis in trabecular meshwork cells and enhances the contractility of trabecular cells,which may increase the resistance of aqueous outflow. It can also promote the formation of the bleb scarring after filtration surgery. TGF-? is likely to play an important role in the pathogenesis and mechanism of primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG). The inhibitions of TGF-? may be used as an auxiliary agent for inhibiting the formation of the bleb scarring after filtration surgery.

Objective To study the contraction of artery in colonic cancer.Methods Arteries in the cancer part and the cancer ambient part of patients with colonic cancer,the concentration-contractile curves induced by the noradrenaline(NA),sarafotoxin 6c(S6c) and endothelin-1(ET-1) in cumulative application were recorded by myograph.Results The E_(max) and pD_(2)of normal colonic artery contraction induced by NA were(97?19)% and(5.94)?0.17.The E_(max)and pD_(2) of contraction in colonic cancer artery was lower than that in cancer ambient artery(P0.05)).Conclusion The ?-adrenoceptor and ET_(A) receptor are main receptors mediating contraction in colonic cancer artery.

AIM: To investigate the clinical features of acquired immune deficiency syndrome ( AIDS) patients associated ocular diseases in Urumqi and the relationship between ocular fundus manifestations and CD4+T cell count.
METHODS: The fundus of 93 AIDS patients were examined by indirect ophthalmoscopy. The clinical symptoms and CD4+T cell count of those patients with fundus changes were analyzed.
RESULTS: Thirteen patients were found having fundus changes which occurred in one eye of 4 patients and two eyes of 9 patients, respectively, and the total detection rate was 14. 0%. Seven patients had vision changes, and the main clinical features of retinal lesion were cotton wool spot and hemorrhage of retina. Four patients were diagnosed as retinitis with cytomegalovirus ( CMV ) infection and 9 patients were diagnosed as HIV related retinopathy diseases. Seven patients among 37 patients with CD4+T cell count ≤100cell/μL had fundus changes related AIDS, and the detection rate was 18. 9%; while 6 patients among 56 patients with CD4+T cell count >100cell/μL had fundus changes related AIDS, and the detection rate was 10. 7%. There was statistical difference between the two detection rates (P<0. 05).
CONCLUSION: No specificity was found of those patients with the clinical manifestation of HIV- related retinopathy, and those patients are easy to be missed diagnosis. A number of AIDS patients have fundus changes without any vision changes. Therefore, it is very useful for AIDS patients to be carried out the routine fundus examination for the early diagnosis and treatment.

To obtain the key genes for chlorogenic acid biosynthesis of Lonicera hypoglauca, four new genes ware obtained from the our dataset of L. hypoglauca. And we also predicted the structure and function of LHPAL4, LHHCT1 , LHHCT2 and LHHCT3 proteins. The phylogenetic tree showed that LHPAL4 was closely related with LHPAL1, LHHCT1 was closely related with LHHCT3, LHHCT2 clustered into a single group. By Real-time PCR to detect the gene expressed level in different organs of L. hypoglauca, we found that the transcripted level of LHPAL4, LHHCT1 and LHHCT3 was the highest in defeat flowers, and the transcripted level of LHHCT2 was the highest in leaves. These result provided a basis to further analysis the mechanism of active ingredients in different organs, as well as the element for in vitro biosynthesis of active ingredients.

Objective To explore the effect of apolipoprotein E (ApoE) gene polymorphism on brain volume in healthy young adults.Methods One hundred and ninety-three healthy young volunteers (age:20-40 years) were recruited in Shengjing Hospital of China Medical University between August 2013 and May 2014.Two milliliters of peripheral blood were collected for the determination of ApoE genotype using direct sequencing of polymerase chain reaction (PCR) products.Brain MRI scans were performed using three-dimensional T1-weighted turbo field echo imaging sequence.The diffcrences of brain morphometry between the ε4 carriers group (ε3/ε4 and ε4/ε4 genotype) and the ε4 non-carriers group (ε3/ε3 genotype) were analyzed using voxel based morphometry (VBM).Results The ε4 carriers accounted for 14.51％ (28/193) of the total population.Twenty of ε4 carriers and 45 of ε4 non-carriers were included in the final images analysis.VBM analysis showed that the ApoE ε4 carriers had 10 atrophic brain areas compared with the ε4 non-carriers (P ＜ 0.005,uncorrected,10 continuous voxels),which mainly located in the right anterior cingulate,the bilateral caudates,parietal lobes and lateral temporal lobes.Conclusions The influence of ApoE gene polymorphisms on brain volume has appeared in the youth.The ε4 gene is related to the reductions of the gray matter volume in multiple brain areas.

Objective To investigate the population genetic polymorphisms of 24 Y-STR loci in unrelat-ed individuals in Eastern Chinese Han population, and to compare the difference of Han group between Eastern China and Guangdong.Methods The population genetics of 24 Y-STR loci in 268 unrelated Han individuals from Eastern China were analyzed by GFS 24 Y-STR amplification kit. The allele fre-quencies in Eastern Chinese Han population were compared with the data in Guangdong Han population, and the difference analysis between two groups was performed.Results Among the 24 Y-STR loci of 268 unrelated Han individuals from Eastern China, 235 alleles and 267 haplotypes were observed. GD value ranged from 0.5649 to 0.9668. The difference between 12 loci(DYS622,DYS552,DYS443etal.) of Han population in Eastern China and in Guangdong was statistically significance.Conclusion GFS 24Y STR amplification system shows favorable polymorphisms, which can be used in patrilineal genetic relationship identification.

Objective: All-trans retinoic acid(ATRA) is a classic drug that can induce tumor differentiation,and its influence on the aberrant methylation of cancer cells has been studied insufficiently.The objective of this study was to observe the influence of ATRA on the methylation of the RARa gene promoter in ovarian cancer cell line COC2 and its relationship with the RARa expression.Methods: The ovarian cancer cell line COC2 was treated with different concentrations of ATRA for different times.Methylation specific PCR(MSP) and bisulfate sequencing methods were used to detect the changes in the methylation of the RARa promoter after ATRA treatment.RT-PCR was employed to observe the changes in the expression level of RARa mRNA.Results: Aberrant methylation of the RARa gene promoter was found in the ovarian cancer cell line COC2.ATRA treatment decreased the number of RARa promoter methylation sites in COC2 within a certain scope in a concentrationand time-dependent manner,and increased the expression of RARa mRNA.Conclusion: Aberrantly high methylation of the RARa promoter exists in the ovarian cancer cell line COC2;ATRA can partially reverse the methylation and increase the RARa mRNA expression.

Objective To resolve the difficulty in controlling the transfusion speed by medical personnel.Methods By using liquid drop sampling module,pulsing signals of liquid drop were obtained,and then they were enlarged,shaped and the wrong signals from the top and bottom surface of every drop were excluded before the standard triggered signals were sent out to SCM processing circuit,from which the real-time liquid drop speed and the average drop speed in every minute were obtained.Results Anti-interference and portable transfusion-drop counter could show the real-time liquid drop value and the average liquid drop value in every minute.Conclusion Anti-interference and portable transfusion-drop counter is convenient with simple structure and has been used in clinic.

Objective To design and implement a portable electrocardiogram (ECG) monitor for multiple users. Methods Multilevel menu on liquid crystal displayer(LCD) for switching among users based on digital signal processor(DSP) was developed. Record header in ECG records for different users was appended, and communication protocol between monitor and hospital center was made. Results This monitor could record three users’s ECG signal and transmit the ECG records to remote hospital center via digital communication method. The hospital center could receive and file the ECG records of different users. Conclusion This monitor can be used for three users and is more efficient in the application of ECG monitoring.
