To observe the diopter after cataract surgery for vision gain in high myopia and its effect on visual outcomes.METHODS: Sixty ( 120 eyes ) high myopia combined with cataract cases received phacoemulsification and intraocular lens implantation in our hospital were retrospective studied. The patients were divided into three groups based on postoperative diopter: -1. 0 ~ -2. 0D (group A), -2. 25~-3. 0D (group B) and -3. 25 ~-4. 0D ( group C ) . The uncorrected distance visual acuity ( UCDVA) , best corrected distant visual acuity ( BCDVA) , uncorrected near visual acuity ( UCNVA ) and questionnaire of Activities of Daily Vision Scale ( ADVS ) were collected to assess the vision gain at 3mo after cataract surgery.RESULTS: At 3mo after surgery, UCDVA of group A was better than that of group B, and UCDVA of group B was better than that of group C. There were no differences in BCDVA among groups. There were significant differences between the three groups' UCNVA, it was best for the group C, followed by the group B, group A was the worst. For questionnaire, no difference was observed in patients' satisfactory for surgical results, but a significant difference was detected in postoperative glasses wearing frequency between groups.CONCLUSlON: For cataract surgery in high myopia combined cataract, postoperative diopter should be calculated based on patients' daily requirements. For patients had not used to wearing glasses and near distant working condition, it's appropriated to reserve a minor degree of myopia. Conversely, for patients require near distant working and received wearing moderate and low hyperopia mirror, higher degree of myopia can be reserved.

Objective To clarify the correlation of alpha fetoprotein (AFP) half-life (T1/2) with relapse or/and metastasis of primary hepatocellular carcinoma (PHC) after treatment. Methods Determination of AFP content in serum with two steps double McAb sandwich ELISA.Calculation AFP T1/2 of the sufferers treated with intervention and radiofrequency ablation (RFA) according to T1/2=0.3 dT/log(AFP1/AFP2). Results When AFP T1/2>11.5 days, the sensitivity, specificity and accuracy of predicting the relapse or metastasis of PHC after treatment were 87.5%, 89.3%, 88.5%, respectively. Intervention group was 82.35%, 83.3%, 82.75%, respectively and RFA group was 93.3%, 93.75%, 93.5%, respectively. During 200 days, there was very significant difference of AFP T1/2 (P<0.001) between non-relapsed/ non-metastasized and relapsed, metastasized and died. Conclusions AFP T1/2 can be used as a predictive index for relapse, metastasis of PHC after treatment. It is not only a reliable parameter for the later stage treatment, but also a useful index for the evaluation of effect.

Objective:To investigate the effect of RNA-mediated interference EGFR (epidermal growth factor receptor) expression on the apoptosis of muitidrug-resisitant ovarian cancer cell line SKOV3/DDP. Methods: Small hairpin RNA (shRNA) targeting EGFR was synthesized and recombinant plasmid containing pEGFR-shRNA was constructed, pEGFR-shRNA was tansfected into SKOV3/DDP cells by liposome system, untransfected cells and SKOV3/DDP cells tansfected with nonspecific-shRNA (Ctrl-shRNA) were used as control. Expression of EGFR mRNA and protein in SKOV3/DDP cells was examined by RT-PCR and immunocytochemistry after transfection, respectively. The apopototic rates and cell cy-cles of SKOV3/DDP cells were detected by flow cytometry. Results: Compared with Ctrl-shRNA-transfected cells, the ex-pression of EGFR mRNA and protein in pEGFR-shRNA-transfected SKOV3/DDP cells was significantly inhibited. Flow cytometry results showed that cell cycle distribution in pEGFR-shRNA-transfected SKOV3/DDP cells was dramatically changed, and the apoptosis rate was significantly increased after further treatment with cisplatin for 24 h. Conclusion: EGFR-targeted interference RNA can inhibit the expression of EGFR in SKOV3/DDP cells, thereby regulating the cell cy-cle and increasing apoptosis of multidrug-resistant SKOV3/DDP cells.

Objective:To study the antihyperglycemic effect of water soluble polysaccharides (MCW) and alkaline soluble polysaccharides (MCB) from Momordica charantia L. on streptozotocin-induced diabetic mice. Method:Twelve mice were selected randomly as control, while the other l08 mice were injected with STZ 200 mg/kg?bw to induce diabetes. The diabetic mice were divided into 4 groups, the model, MCW (300 mg/kg bw), MCB (300 mg/kg bw), Gilbenclamide (15 mg/kg bw). The above components were administered intragastrically for 10 d and then blood samples were taken to determine concentrations of serum glucose and insulin. Results: The blood glucose levels could be obviously decreased by MCW and MCB in the diabetic mice. MCB has the best antihyperglycemic effect, in terms of improving the serum insulin level and decreasing the blood glucose level of diabetic mice. Conclusion:The polysaccharides from Momordica charantia can repair the injured pancreatic islet tissues and enhance insulin secretion so as to reduce blood glucose level of the diabetic mice.
